  • The Musical Box MGM Northfield Park

by Erik on 11/1/21MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 4 out of 5

The band is great as always. The first set was mostly "newer" Genesis from Phil Collins as lead singer. Denis struggled a bit. When I saw The Musical Box last time at Playhouse Square I didn't notice this as much. The second set and encore was spot on. Denis has the unique Peter Gabriel voice down pat. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is because the acoustics at the MGM Northfield are not the best.

Easy entry! Great show! A really great experience!

If you're a fan of Genesis, especially the Genesis of old with Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins on drums, you will love this band. They are the ultimate cover band. Excellent musicians dedicated to reproducing the magic of Genesis. Absolutely astounding. Great place to see them as well (MGM Northfield).

This was a great show! Missed the theatricals of past shows. Was disappointed that more people weren’t in attendance. Is there a problem with MGM getting the word out about concerts at their venue! The box office should be open before a show especially with seats available. Give the seats away, just fill the venue!

  • Almost better than the real thing

by Aly Jobs on 10/31/21MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

This band is one of the best bands (not only cover bands) I've ever seen and heard. The whole band jelled, not a wasted note, not a note that wasn't required. The music of early Genesis is brilliantly recreated - these guys have created (not to be overly dramatic) a masterpiece.

  • Excellent show

Great show. Good setlist. Long show with 20 min intermission

Set List was incredible, definitely a must see show

  • Disappointed

by JoyceZ on 10/31/21MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 3 out of 5

Not what we expected since that was my generation. We had hoped that this tribute band sang well-known popular songs when Phil Collins was with the band before breaking out solo. That was our favorite era. The band members are quite talented, but the music too rock and it was very (((LOUD))).

  • Wonderful show

by Jim on 10/31/21MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen The Musical Box more than 10 times. I did miss the costumes this go-around, hoped for at least the encore ("Supper's Ready") having the theatrics (I believe they did pull out stuff for the encore "The Musical Box" in the first Extravaganza show. That said, it was amazing hearing stuff I had not heard them do, like "The Fountain of Salmacis," "Looking for Someone," and the instrumental parts of Wind and Wuthering ("... Unquiet Slumbers . . . " and "Wot Gorilla." Perfect blend of Gabriel era and the first two albums of the Collins era. I will see them again here or at Playhouse Square. The mix on the 666 part was a bit off, didn't hear the vocals well. Also, I would have preferred Supper's Ready to end the show, THEN do an encore. But that's nitpicking, and other than that, perfect.

Firth of Fifth and Ripples were as good as Genesis

  • Amazing as always

by KevinDB on 1/13/20The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn’t sure what to expect this time around, but the first half of the show was focused mostly on Genesis “the quartet“ and the second half was the “classic” line-up, including a couple of Trespass numbers. The band never fails to impress. Their attention to detail and musicianship is breathtaking! I can’t wait to see them again

  • an off night for this incredible band

by Av on 1/13/20The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Last time they were in Toronto for volume 1 of the extravaganza, it was literally one of the best concerts I ever experienced. Others I spoke to felt the same, and were literally blown away. So last Friday, I came in with high expectations, and was let down... everything just seemed to be off. It was still a great show overall, but they were nowhere near as tight or in flow as before. Given I've seen them 10 times, no biggy, every band has its off nights...

  • Not to be missed!

by Teepster on 12/30/19The Canyon Agoura Hills - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing band in every Rey respect! The musicianship is off the charts and for anyone who never got to experience Genesis in the Peter Gabriel days it’s an absolutely mind blowing evening! Can’t recommend any stronger! Not to be missed!!!

  • Carrying on the tradition of great live music

    by Tony B on 12/27/19The Rose - PasadenaRating: 5 out of 5

So impressed and inspired by The Musical Box performance at The Rose. So much great music played so well. I've heard/seen them many times before and I hope to hear/see them many times again.

  • Unbelievable!

If you are a hard core Genesis fan and closed your eyes you would swear you were with the original band. Beautifully rendered.

In my clique I was a late Genesis bloomer, didn't get on board until around 1980 and Seconds Out was about it, an incredible outstanding live album. The thought of ever seeing it performed live has been none existent until now. I'm very grateful that there are Tribute Bands of the Caliber of the Musical Box bringing the Live experience that's 40 years+ gone to fans young and old. I saw every tour Led Zeppelin did except the last, they at one show did 3 encores at the Inglewood Forum. To see THAT Led Zeppelin or the Seconds Out Genesis is just not going to happen, the Musicians have moved on but the Tribute Bands are filling that void. I'm incredibly pleased and will seek them out again.

  • Epic!

by Ben Dover on 12/23/19The Rose - PasadenaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 4th time I’ve seen them perform and I can say with utmost certainty that this was their best performance ever! And and extra added bonus was seeing Paul Whitehead recreate the paint of the Foxtrot album cover right before my eyes.

Great show again!! They are a must-see for old Genesis fans!

  • Wonderful Surprise!

by Papa Owl on 6/10/19Sony Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a fantastic performance i truly was not expecting such quality and in-depth show. It truly sounded like good Old Genesis! This is a definite repeat for me in the future. The hall was intimate and perfect for the nostalgia injection.

  • Phenomenal

by Geez on 6/7/19Center Stage Theater - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

After short bursts of Wind & Wuthering and Trick of the Tail pieces, they did a lot from The Lamb, then shot back for some Nursery Chryme and Trespass, even obscure titles like Can Utility and the Coastliners. My two favorite Genesis songs ended the show: Cinema Show for the regular set ending, and The Musical Box for the lone encore. WIth intermission, the block of time was eleven minutes shy of three hours. Wow.
