  • The Musical Box was GREAT

    by Slipperman123 on 12/14/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I saw the original Genesis production in 1975, and these guys did a fantastic re-creation of that show. I have seen them do this show now twice, and both times they were great. Don't miss this show.

  • Nothing comes close !!!

Flew from Caracas - Venezuela to see the show with my wife and a couple of friends. There are no words that can explain the atmosphere and the quality of the show. Highly impressed with all musicians, but specially with the guitar and drums player.....I can almost swear that I saw Gabriel, Collins, Rutherford and Banks play in front of us. Just DO NOT miss these guys if they happen to stop by your town. Congrats and many thanks to all the TMB gang for the magic moments ! Keep the good work guys !

Fantastic recreation of classic Genesis. Great show. If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed by these guys. Absent a reunion, this is close as you will get to hearing Genesis live.

  • Musical Box Rocks!

by WalrusM on 11/25/12Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I never got to see Genesis pre-departure of Peter Gabriel, but seeing The Musical Box was the next best thing!. This particular show was of The Lamb Lays Down On Broadway, and the musicianship was right on. The Lamb isn't actually one of my favorite Genesis recordings, but does have some good songs. I was pleased that for the encore they played Watcher of the Skies which is one of my all time favorite Genesis tunes, and a perfect way to end the show.

  • Great show!

The Musical Box did real justice to Genesis and "The Lamb" - not an easy feat to pull off but they did it remarkably well. Thanks Canada for a great band!

Right down to the very last minute detail this show was awesome and spectacular for any Genesis fan that is. If you do not like Genesis music you should not go.

What a wonderful déjà view experience! Authentic costumes. A theatrical experience. Music was dead on.

What a show...this is the best tribute to classic Genesis, hands down!

  • Sherman, set the Wayback Machine to 1974

by DoktorDyper on 11/25/12Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This tribute band does justice to one of Gensis' most complicated pieces. With skill combined with a stage presence (with no glitches, unlike the original) The Musical Box brings you into a slice of NYC Rael-y seen. Mesmerised the entire time by Denis Gagné as Peter Gabriel and blown away by the musicianship of François Gagnon as Steve Hackett, Sébastien Lamothe as Mike Rutherford, Michel Cloutier as Tony Banks, and Marc Laflamme as Phil Collins. It is rumored that they may be retiring this show and I for hope not, it was glorious!

Musically perfect, vocals at time were excellent, but most of the time they were hard to hear & understand despite knowing the words music was way too loud.

All I can say is, if TMB is performing, I will be there. Bless them for carrying the torch of "The Lamb" for Genesis. Every note and visual of the show is dead on- it's hard to believe you're actually hearing it live. I am a prog and TLLDOB has always been one of my all-time favorite works. Suffice to say TMB rips my head off every time they perform it.

A truly amazing performance of one of progressive rocks greatest moments. I have seen The Musical Box perform TLLDOB multiple times and will continue to follow them as long as they perform. They are spectacular!

  • Performance was spot-on!

    by CQEarl14 on 11/23/12Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen every Genesis and Peter Gabriel show since the early '70s, but this was my first time seeing The Musical Box. Their performance of the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was identical to that of the original group during their 74/75 tour at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia. The lead singer and theatrical wizard of The Musical Box has early Gabriel's voice, gestures and mannerisms spot-on. I am looking forward to their next performance and would highly recommend them to a friend.

  • Closest you'll ever get to Gabriel-era Genesis!

by Spradlinn on 11/20/12Wilbur Theater - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Had no idea what to expect, seeing a 'tribute band' of my favorite band ever, Genesis. I was skeptical. But, The Musical Box was impeccable. These guys nailed The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, a pretty much impossible album to cover! Every member was top notch and the lead singer sold the whole event, as Peter Gabriel. He has PG's voice down to a T, as well as his mannerisms, stage moves, costumes and even between-song banter, even softly clearing his throat between sentences, as Gabriel does to this day. The one word that comes to mind with this band is 'reverence'. Every member uses the identical instruments (ARP synths, mellotrons, Rickenbacker basses, Gibson Les Pauls, Premier drums and Collin's percussion battery, various pedals and effects, etc.) the original band did in 1975. And they play every part lovingly, faithfully and confidently. But the feeling I got is these guys love Genesis and are devoted to recreating this music with the passion the original band did. They weren't just mimicking Genesis, they were channeling them, and bringing the power of that music back to our ears, today. I'm pretty sure The Musical Box will blow you away if you're a fan of Genesis. Give them a shot. Bravo, boys!

I was 2 rows from the stage- the incredible talent of these musicians blows my mind. They are perfect- every note was a pleasure to watch!

This is truly a fantastic band that really recreates the music and style of Peter Gabriel was he was the lead man for Genesis. The sounds and costmes and set list was very well done.
