  • Selling England by the Pound! Need more be said?

by wgnyc on 3/4/15NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen all of the different shows that they perform, so obviously I enjoy them. I've been to see Genesis with and without Gabriel and also have seen Phil Collins, Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel as solo artists. Although not Genesis, they are endorsed by some of the band mates, and use some props and a synthesizer from the original band. They do always play the music spot on, which allows you to close your eyes and relive the past, although, the vocals were a bit washed out at this venue. Go listen and enjoy.

  • The Musical Box was spot on!

Performing the Selling England By The Pound concert tour, The Musical Box was as good as it gets short of seeing Genesis in 1974. Sound mix was very good. Love this MB lineup.

  • Close to perfect but off by a beat

by Hillerlee on 3/4/15NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 4 out of 5

Nothing better than a live Old Genesis sound - even when it's not old Genesis reproducing it. It's probably better this way since the originals might not be able to create this themselves (except Steve Hackett??) My only issue is that, as great as the drummer was - and he was awesome, I felt he was rushing the sound - up by a fraction of a beat for about 1/2 the show. When I asked a few others how they felt, they heard the same thing - so it wasn't my imagination. It was actually a little annoying and detracted from the show. Aside of that, and of course the singing fans all around us, it was as close to perfect as you could expect. Thank God for The Musical Box.

  • Musical Box

by randyeye on 3/4/15NYCB Theatre at Westbury - WestburyRating: 5 out of 5

Prog heaven!.....almost exact replication of early Genesis shows with Peter Gabriel, before they sold out and went commercial. Amazing musicians, stage presence , effects and projections. Seen them 4 times, and always great. After seeing this show , you will truly realize how todays music totally sucks.

  • The Musical Box was a trip back in time.

Unforgettable concert. True to Genesis. The only complaint was that we could hardly hear the vocals.

  • Excellent Show

by JoeyBock on 8/28/14Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

This show was awesome! Really Really great. Would like to say the concert of a life time of being a real Genesis fan. I have always loved the Selling England By the Pound disc. It is better than ever with The Musical Box performing it that evening. So lucky to have seen the show. Would love to see them again!

  • These guys are awesome

by BeDa on 8/2/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

No wonder why Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins went to see them, they are really fantastic and reproduce amazingly the Genesis we loved to hear and see. Pity that they don't come more often to NJ, I would come see them every time.

  • Absolutely Wonderful

by Alwaysanoriolefan on 7/31/14Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 1st time I had seen this band. The painstaking effort that they put in to duplicating the Genesis 1973 tour was simply marvelous! The band was very talented, especially the ones who represented Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, and Phil Collins! I highly recommend seeing the Musical Box!

If you are a fan of early Genesis music, you will really enjoy this show. The Musical Box does three shows: Foxtrot, SEBTP (Selling England By The Pound), and (The) Lamb (Lies Down On Broadway). It appears that they are not doing Lamb right now. I have seen Foxtrot and now SEBTP and am amazed at their ability to sound, look, and feel like Genesis in the early 70's. They open with Watcher Of The Skies, which sets the tone for the rest of the show - Gabriels strange art form and his costumes, plus his little stories to introduce the songs.

  • Musical Box - an impeccable musical time machine!

If you love 70's Genesis with Peter Gabriel, GO SEE THIS BAND. period.

  • Excellent Show

by YesGenesis on 7/28/14Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

Music was amazing. I enjoyed the set list of this performance more than the previous tour of the "Lamb". Parker Playhouse was a better venue for this band than the Hard Rock. Look forward to the next time they are in South Florida.

  • Musical Box - Never Disappoints

by jetfanmac on 7/28/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Opinion is biased as I am a big fan of the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis. The Musical Box are spot on - they are marvelous musicians. The crowd was very enthusiastic which adds to the enjoyment. A must see for any early Genesis fan

Great show, outstanding musicians and fantastic recreation.... The best thing apart from going back to 1973....

  • Time Warp to 1973

    by JerryP2 on 7/28/14Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Although I am 43 and too young to have seen the original, I have enough DVD footage of early Genesis performing the songs of this show which allows me to give an opinion. Incredible would be one word. In Ft. Lauderdale, almost every song received a standing ovation. I think that people were most likely in shock at first after Watchers of the Sky and didn't react as such. I was fortunate enough to catch these guys in Dallas when they did The Lamb. This set list of Selling England by the Pound and earlier songs was mesmerizing. The stage act of "Peter Gabriel" with props and poetry was fabulous. I almost drove to Orlando the following day for the next show. I will see the Musical Box again.

  • The best of both worlds

    by bdg1123 on 7/27/14Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

For "old school" Genesis fans, this group is your best, if not only, way to recreate the past. As if the move for move stage show of the original concerts wasn't enough, the music is a spot on recreation of the albums. Close to perfection.

  • Much better than even I imagined

by TMNickname on 7/27/14Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Phil Collins has been quoted as saying that Musical Box play these songs better than Genesis ever did, and after seeing them, that would not surprise me. They were in command of these songs, never let up, and nailed each and every one. It's a real treat to see the songs in the context of actual sets and set lists from 40 years ago. This was my first time with this band, who probably are the best tribute act out there. One night I saw the Selling England show, and the next night I saw the Foxtrot show. Either is excellent and highly recommended.

Better than the band's original concerts! Superlative effort
