A great tribute to a classic! From the orchestra to the singing, dancing, and costumes, well done! Our family enjoyed every minute.
The performers all sounded fatigued in their singing and in their choreography. Don't allow it to be a community run show again.
Staging minimal but very sufficent. Acting great. Music wonderful. Thanks to all for their time spent to entertain us.
I attended 2 of the 5 performances of the "Music Man" at Morrison Center at the end of Boise Music Week. To say I was impressed is an understatement! The members of this production were cast from local talent, and they rose to the level of most professional musicals out there. I was thoroughly in grossed, thoroughly pleased and thoroughly entertained with what I saw and heard.
The Music Man was very enjoyable. Good family entertainment. I really enjoyed the 7 year old that played Winthrop. Very good production.
Boise Music Week ! What a great production to celebrate your 100th year. The leads and cast were fantastic! Great job!
I have been attending musicals for almost nine decades now and always enjoy the times in the seats! However, this edition of Music Man was more fun than you can imagine! The cast was fabulous, the principals were terrific and the staging set a new standard of excellence. To think that this was offered at no charge to a completely filled house, by 2000 volunteers for the Boise Music Week was beyond comprehension! Kudos to all and keep up the wonderful work you all do!
Our family went to the Music Man production and we all loved it! The actors were great and the orchestra members performed beautifully as well! All around an AMAZING evening! Thank you for providing family friendly entertainment that all ages can enjoy!
Boise was blessed by the Music Man during Boose Music week - a solid cast from top to bottom - an energetic convincing Harold Hill and the beautiful voice of Marion Pardoo made for a great pairing in the lead roles - so many memorable chararcters - the Shinns - the quarter - Winthrop - Tommy...well everbody really - we are blessed to have so much local talent!
It was great. A real trip. Saw the original and this was terrific . Great job by all involved.with the production including musicians and cast.
The play and venue where great! My husband and 3 kids loved it. My 4th child was grumpy and him and I left early. My 2 complaints 1- that I could only purchase 4 tickets so my family of 6 had to be split up. 4 say on the floor and 2 in the mezzanine. Would have been nice to sit together. 2- it was hard to hear at times and those of my group who sat further away said it was even worse for them. Everything else was great!
A fun show which didn't disappoint. Amazing how much local talent resides in Boise.
From the outstanding Contemporary Youth Orchestra to the fabulous voices of the singers/actors - this was an afternoon of delight! So great to see and hear the accomplished young musicians, the moving solos, the barbershop quartet, and the community participation from the youngest tykes to the senior citizens. First rate! Let's hope this type of show comes back to Cain Park next year.
The Music Man was performed in front of the orchestra without props and was absolutely WONDERFUL! Every part of the performance was professional and delightful!
This was a unique type of presentation with a 40-piece orchestra and a cast of 60 presenting "The Music Man" in concert. The music was beautiful and the acting evoked strong emotional connections with the audience. The Cain Park venue is lovely and added to the charm and beauty of the presentation.
Overall it was a great show. Loved seeing Shirley Jones in person. The only thing that was kind of "off" was the fact that the women were dressed in formal gowns, not 1912-style dresses. The formals just didn't fit the small-town Iowa setting. The men wore period clothing; why not the women?
The real reason to see this show is simply Shirley Jones. As she tells her story about the making of The Music Man and working with Robert Preston you find yourself enjoying the great songs from the film as more of a celebration of their hard work so long ago. This concert of the Music Man is a different kind of stage production, it has a more intimate feel to it and you are easily drawn in to the performances by Shirley Jones, her son and all of the well chosen cast. This show is colorful, touching and exhuberant.
My son and I attended the Music Man concert hosted by Shirley Jones w/ her son Patrick Cassidy. The show was wonderful. Ms. Jones narrations and stories between the scenes brought back a lot of wonderful memories for me. I am so grateful that my son got to see Ms. Jones on tour and develop a love for Broadway musicals.
We loved the show and Maumelle Arts Center is wonderful. Does not look like there is a bad seat in the house. Shirley Jones was great and the entire cast was so taleted.!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I loved this revue. Wonderful music, wonderful cast and a chance to see Shirley Jones ! And she is marvelous ! To hear her stories about the making of the Music Man was amazing and very interesting. Her son, Patrick, did a great job as the Professor. My only regret is that the show only toured for 4 weeks. Believe me, this will play well anywhere in the country. So very, very special !
