About

New album Always With Me out now. The Movement has been winning the hearts and minds of alternative-reggae fans since their inception in Columbia, SC in 2003. Drawing inspiration from Sublime, 311, Slightly Stoopid and John Brown's Body, they've made a name for themselves as reggae shapeshifters with a foundation of heavy drum and bass. Today the band consists of founding member, lead vocalist and guitarist Joshua Swain, bassist Jason Schmidt, drummer Gary Jackson, and keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Matt Goodwin. Their seventh studio album, Ways Of The World (2019) debuted at #1 in the Billboard Reggae Chart, and remained in the Billboard Reggae Top 10 for more than 40 consecutive weeks. The band's eighth studio album Always With Me - out July 29, 2022 on the band's R4RE Records imprint - explores new musical territory while staying true to their champion sound. Featuring collaborations from their influences-turned-peers, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, and Clinton Fearon, and contemporaries HIRIE and Soom T, for The Movement, the only path is forward; pushing the boundaries and the future of reggae.

The Movement - aprty not to be missed

by George on 2/11/24White Oak Music Hall - Downstairs - Houston

This entire band is super talented and play off each other phenomenally! A must see if they are in your area, seen them in a large outdoor venue but this small indoor venue rocked like none other!

Front row to a great experience!

by Jessy on 4/4/23The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

I’m a huge fan of The Movement. My husband came along because he figured he’d enjoy a night out. After hearing them Live, he is now a fan! They sound even better Live! We enjoyed the show from beginning to end and can’t wait to see them again. I think we swayed to the music the entire 90 minutes they were on stage. One of the best shows I’ve seen… Greta energy and vibes :)

    Great Show

by Ken S. on 4/4/23The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

First off The Stone Pony is an iconic venue to see any band play. I had seen Tropidelic once before and again they didn’t disappoint. They have a unique sound with the multitude of instruments they use how they use them. It was my first time seeing The Movement. They really put on an excellent show. I look forward to their tour this summer with Sublime and Slightly Stoopid. If you get the chance I highly recommend seeing both bands if the opportunity presents itself.

The Movement is an amazing live show

by EliSabeth on 3/20/23Music Farm - Charleston

I purchased the meet and greet passes and was able to hang out during the sound check for the band. It was awesome! They are always so nice and so much fun! They took out pics with the band and let us get out stuff autographed!! The show wa an everything I had hoped. The venue (Music Farm) did a lot of work since I was there last. They used to not even have a/c! The sound awww amazing and all three bands were awesome!!! Also, they have a new menu and new peopel making the food and it was incredible!!! Will def catch them anytime they are near Charleston!!

    SOOOOO Good!!!

by RASPBandChicago on 12/4/22Thalia Hall - Chicago

The Movement are one of my favorite touring acts. It was amazing seeing them at such a small venue too!!! That's one of the benefits of being a reggae fan in Chicago. Smaller venues on even the biggest acts in the genre! The Movement continues to be on the rise and their live performance gets better and better!

    Great show, great venue

by Randum on 12/4/22Thalia Hall - Chicago

The movement is a top tier rock reggae band that never disappoints. Also the sound at this was great with plenty of places to stand or sit with a great view of the stage. The opener, Mike Love was a great show to get the crowd going. Also having reasonably priced drinks was a plus, along with friendly staff.
