About

New album Always With Me out now. The Movement has been winning the hearts and minds of alternative-reggae fans since their inception in Columbia, SC in 2003. Drawing inspiration from Sublime, 311, Slightly Stoopid and John Brown's Body, they've made a name for themselves as reggae shapeshifters with a foundation of heavy drum and bass. Today the band consists of founding member, lead vocalist and guitarist Joshua Swain, bassist Jason Schmidt, drummer Gary Jackson, and keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Matt Goodwin. Their seventh studio album, Ways Of The World (2019) debuted at #1 in the Billboard Reggae Chart, and remained in the Billboard Reggae Top 10 for more than 40 consecutive weeks. The band's eighth studio album Always With Me - out July 29, 2022 on the band's R4RE Records imprint - explores new musical territory while staying true to their champion sound. Featuring collaborations from their influences-turned-peers, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, and Clinton Fearon, and contemporaries HIRIE and Soom T, for The Movement, the only path is forward; pushing the boundaries and the future of reggae.

    Great time!

by Adela on 9/14/21Greenfield Lake Amphitheater - Wilmington

Best show I’ve ever been to! The Movement is my personal favorite reggae band. They were so nice, they even had the crowd sing happy birthday to a six year old. Amazing people, wonderful show, great time! Wish it had been a few hours longer, I can’t wait to go back.

The Movement Delivered a Great Show

by Cmig on 8/25/21Bernie's Beach Bar - Hampton Beach

The tropical storm forced the show inside and none of the warm up bands made it to the show, but The Movement delivered a fantastic set. Sounded great.

Drinks were way over priced and people were too close.

by Glitter girl on 8/25/21Bernie's Beach Bar - Hampton Beach

The only good thing was the band and that they had an outdoor area for fresh air

    Great Show, Great energy

by Markus on 11/19/19Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

The show was so good. The venue (Brighton Music Hall) was amazing. Small and personal. Good Sound good service and great atmosphere . A couple people trying to start trouble got kicked out right away. The opening bands Organically Good Trio and The Late Ones were excellent. We really enjoyed them. They came out in the crowd to hang out for the last set too. THE MOVEMENT was AMAZING! They were everything we could have hoped for. They played about 18 songs. High energy and sounded great! It was everything we hoped for. After the show we waited around out front to get the album signed thati purchased from the merch booth. I was able to get all 4 band members to sign the vinyl I bought even Josh came out to talk to us for a bit! Very pleased! I just wanted to thank the entire band for taking the time to come out and talk to the fans. I can’t wait till you guys are close to Toronto again. We will definitely be coming out to see you!

    The Elovaters killed it!

by MikeMiddleton on 11/16/17Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Love the Movement since 2005. New Kingston rock d it. The Elovaters stole the show tonight. Unbelievable energy from all 3 bands. I wish I could see this again.

Saw these guys open for Slightly Stoopid on the Sounds of Summer 2017 tour. They were the first opener and I honestly think they should've been swaped around with J Boog and given a longer set. They are one of the best live acts I've probably ever seen and set a great tone for how the rest of the show would go. Absoutely a blast to watch them groove on stage while hyping up the audience. It was really a shame that they only got to play for about 20-25 minutes. Will see them again as soon as I get the opportunity to!

    The Movement setting standards!

by Sunshineeee on 8/14/11State Theatre - St Petersburg

What a show! the artists were frolicking around stage to hip reggae vibes. Pouring shots down their fans throats, and jamming out to an amazing set-list.

    Didn't get to see it!

by youngwife on 8/5/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

My 17 yr old daughter did not have a photo ID, so she was not allowed in. I don't remember seeing any warnings prior stating that a photo ID was required.
