The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Marshall Tucker Rocked The Canyon Club!

    by AngelRocks805 on 9/3/13The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 4 out of 5

My husband has been a fan since 74, so when I heard they were coming to the Canyon Club, I had to get tickets. Our friends came with us and we had a ball! They still can Rock & they make sure everyone is having a great time! It was a great evening!

  • Marshall tucker band was disappointing

by Rosalynne on 8/16/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 1 out of 5

I have loved this band since the 70's and was excited to go see them perform at Indian Ranch. i still love live music but these guys had a warm up band that did covers of other artists work, and then they came out and for an hour and a half tops, and other than a couple within the show, didn't play their hits until the end. really- if you expect to keep fans coming out after 40 years, give 'em what they came for. Leave MTB relegated to your past and iPod mix. I guess you can't go back.

Concert was great! Love, love being able to sit outside and listen to fabulous music! It would be even better if we didn't have to pay $20 to park!!!

Love MTB. Have since 1975. Always will. For the most part, the current MTB fires on all cylinders. Unfortunately, Doug Gray's vocals do not anymore. This makes the second time in the past couple of years that I've seen MTB and Doug has soured. He is getting up there in age, which I can appreciate. We all are!

  • Great show in a great venue!

by CountryChris on 8/14/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 5 out of 5

I was lucky enough to score front row seats for this show. It was amazing, we were literally 3 feet away from the band. I can honestly say that there are very few "bad" seats, so I assume I would have enjoyed it from anywhere. The band was real receptive to the crowd and syed a lot of great music.

  • The Marshall Tucker band was beyond my expectation

by kattell on 8/14/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 5 out of 5

Listening to marshall tucker since the early 70's . Was not disappointed very impressed with the whole band. They played an hour past the time when they could have walked off the stage. the concert was suppose to end at 4:30 p.m. they played till 5:30 p.m.

  • terrible

    by cassiegirl3 on 8/14/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 1 out of 5

Marshall Tucker stunk. They played only 2 old songs and the rest of the stuff we have never heard of. Way too much of nothing. I will not go to another concert by them again. Was really looking forward to the old stuff as that is our generation. The opening band was better!

  • MTB was Awesome

My first experience at the Indian Ranch and what a great time I had, I would recommend VIP parking, tailgate from your vehicle which we did and it was nice to eat lunch then go in and take in everything going on before the Event....will be doing this again Sept 1st, 38 special can't wait...

  • Total enjoyment...

I read a lot of the reviews prior to going to the show, and it seems that other's reviews are largely a function of what people 'wanted to see'. If you want to see the MTB from the 70's and hear Toy jamming (RIP), or even Doug (the only orignial member still in the band) belting out 2 hours of soulful southern rock anthems, DON'T GO. This ain't that. You'd be better off finding a tribute band to listen to, or dusting off your LP's. But if you want to lose yourself in the nostalgia of some really great music, and see a musical legend still taking the stage to front some amazing talent flanking him, then you won't be disappointed. Southern honey like this never gets old, and these guys can deliver it. I have to agree with some who griped about too much audience singing, but Doug is clearly only able to do so much up there, and this is a tried and true mechanism to get the audience in to it. It worked for the most part. Of course we'd all have preferred the old Doug delivering for 2 hours, but folks, those days are gone forever. And if you enjoyed MTB on their first pass, look in the mirror - you're no spring chicken either !!! The flute and sax work was amazing, and everyone on stage (except the drummer, who wasn't miked) had a great set of pipes too. Read the reviews - decide what you want out of this concert - and if you are nostalgic, have an ear for the southern rock, and resonate with it, then you won't be disappointed. MTB was special, and this group still carries the torch IMHO.

  • I really wanted to like the show

    by jack2335 on 8/14/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 3 out of 5

Waited years to see MTB and I have to say I was disappointed. Long winded diatribes by Doug Gray before each song and "jams" turning 4 minute songs into 9 minute songs resulted in too few songs played and a sense of boredom from the crowd. "Midnight Promises" - the highlight of the afternoon!

  • Opening Bands were great too!!!!

    by ape2369 on 8/14/13Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 5 out of 5

We were at Marshall Tucker this weekend at Indian Ranch, always a great venue with great bands. The big surprise were the opening acts, especially Darryl and the Derelicks, what a great singer and a cool groove!!! I hope I see them there again, a very nice surprise at what is usually a strong Country only place. I love the blues!!

  • Marshall Tucker Sound Was Awful

by DLGW on 8/8/13Ocean City Music Pier - Ocean CityRating: 2 out of 5

The sound was so loud as to be distorted. The mix was terrible. The vocalists were muffled and could barely be heard over the muddiness of the instruments. It was disappointing.

  • The Marshall Tucker Band was great!!!

by DickDastardly on 8/8/13Ocean City Music Pier - Ocean CityRating: 4 out of 5

The MTB was really a good show!!! It was strange not having a drink at a concert (Ocean City, NJ is a dry town) & the venue was a bit like sitting at church, but I am so happy my dad & I got to see them together!!!

  • What was I thinking?

by JAC420 on 8/8/13Ocean City Music Pier - Ocean CityRating: 1 out of 5

Worst show I have ever seen. I have seen cover bands that played Marshall Tucker songs better. But since there is really nobody left from the original band, except the lead singer who cannot even sing....what was I thinking when I purchased the tickets? Since I think they realize he cannot sing, they all end up doing group singalongs or taking turns singing......really bad. Just some guys who wear cowboy hats and boots who call themselves Marshall Tucker who poorly play Marshall Tucker songs....time to hang it up guys....

  • From Spartansburg South Carolina...

  • Marshall Tucker Band

by Ljso on 8/8/13Ocean City Music Pier - Ocean CityRating: 4 out of 5

No opening band but then i did'nt think there would be but clearly other people thought thete would be so they were late. For anyone who listened to them in the 70's plan to have a night of memories. Great

  • Marshall Tucker Band at Margaritaville

by ssiegmund on 7/30/13Margaritaville Resort Casino - Bossier CityRating: 4 out of 5

Well I was really sorry to see the lead singer Doug Gray, the only remaining original member, has lost his chops and probably needs to hang it up. The rest of the band was phenomenal though. The flutist/saxaphonist Marcus Henderson just stole the show. Great guitar work by Shane Pruitt who apparently sits in regularly. Margaritaville has a perfect small venue, perfect acoustics, not a bad seat in the house. I'll be back.
