The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

I wasn't impressed one bit, maybe that's all their concerts are but it didn't fill my bill. I wanted to hear songs not a lot of instrument solos.I wouldn't have bought a shirt if they were located at the exit instead of entrance. The Wizard

This was the WORST concert we have ever been to. To begin with, this should have been considered a cover band, NOT the original Marshall Tucker Band because only ONE of the band members was an original member. My wife and I have both seen Marshall Tucker in concert before and this was a complete let down. They had sound problems for the first few songs which they did apologize for. The lead singer was horrible and couldn't keep up with the tempo. We walked out after about an hour/hour and a half because we could no longer listen to the singer sing. How can we go about getting a refund since we did not get what we paid for ?

  • Marshall Tucker Band was the very worst concert

by Anonymous on 11/17/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

This concert was laughable! It is the very worst concert we have ever seen! The sound equipment was way off. The lead singer has lost his voice. They walked off stage after 30 minutes giving no reason to the audience, guess it was sound problems. We went to the concert to hear Desert Skies, my favorite song. When they attempted to play it my husband had to tell me what song it was! Really, really bad. They opened the back of the room to people with no tickets, next time that is what we will do. Thunder Valley should screen their bands....this was not worth any amount of money to see.

Horrible show! I admit some of the guys still have it but the lead singer needs to retire now.

  • Band was great

Thunder Valley needs to control crowd in back of room. Too much talking over the music.

  • disappointed

by king568 on 11/17/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

Was disappointed by Doug Gray. He can't sing very well anymore. When other band members sang it was better. Time for retirement.

  • Weak

by Gambler45 on 11/17/14Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

The band's voices have faded, but still fun to hear some of the old songs. The group was not pleased with the audio set-up at Thunder Valley and basically walked off the stage at one point. They did come back, but a pretty weak performance.

    by Buddyboy15 on 10/25/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

Had never seen the band live although I have been a fan of their music for over 40 years, brought back some sweet memories and was somewhat sad in a way that Toy and Tommy are gone but the band played on!

These guys are awesome & down to earth! They put on a great show and keep you entertained. So what if he's 66 years old, he can still show you a good time! Love seeing them every year.

  • bad

I was there for music but it turned out to be old men calling to young girls in the audience that were my daughters age...very unclassy!!

by Choochabubba on 9/11/14Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 2 out of 5

Terrible show. We go to Indian Ranch at least 4x a year... this has been the worst show we have ever seen. If I wanted to see and old man oogle at a young girl, i could have just stood outside .. The band is tight for the most part but the lead singer needs to find another job. I know he has history with the band and all that, but he is much to interested in hearing himself talk (and try to sing) - I didn't come to watch a garage band jam, i came to see Marshall Tucker... what a disappointment. Not sure of his name, but the guitarist with the long blond hair is phenomenal - best voice in the band. Very talented. Enjoyed watching him. Other than that - i would never spend the money to see them again. Save yours.

  • MTB rocked it at Indian Ranch

    by Gia1234 on 9/10/14Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 5 out of 5

Was a great concert and venue. So many talented band members and guests. Marcus Henderson was just amazing - he played flute, keyboard, sax, and was lead singer on a few tunes. Way to go MTB - keep on rockin it.

They just get better and better with age. Combine their performance and the setting that is The Indian ranch, you have the makings of a great music experience. , .

  • Awsum show 2nd row back!

by ramjett on 9/10/14Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing and talented band worth seeing. Beautiful day and great seats except for over perfumed and annoying woman in front row.

  • by otis485 on 9/10/14Indian Ranch - WebsterRating: 1 out of 5

The show was late in getting started, the music was so load that you could hardly make out the singer voices, and their selection of songs to play was pore. A no name country band played first and was a 5. And I’m not into country that much.

  • Marshall Tucker--Great Show

by eyesontheprize on 9/2/14Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show. Great mix of practiced chops and light jamming. They had the audience dancing in their chairs and singing along with most of the songs. We LOVE this venue, and have thoroughly enjoyed every show we've seen there.
