The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • NO SHOW-SHOWROOM

by GAZI on 2/28/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

Concert was great, really enjoyed seeing them back in action. MTB is the best even with some new members, and not to mention lead singer at 75 years old. Many concert goers! Was dissapointed that they did away with the showroom , and put us in a ballroom with chairs. Bought 6 tickets thinking we were in the showroom as advertised. Ticket master should have posted the ballroom at Talking Stick!

  • Blue Ridge Mountain Perfection

by Craig on 2/28/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

WOW! What a fabulous evening with the Marshall Tucker Band!! Master-class musicians brought lengthy jams and breathed new life into their most classic tunes, stunning the crowd and thrilling this long-time fan! The teeny tiny banquet chairs assured we were packed into the flat-floored Talking Stick Ballroom venue where sight lines aren't the best; luckily we were right up front and the sound and amazing showmanship took center stage! Only original member Doug Gray has assembled a band that has no equal in their talent and country/rock/jazz genre. Love them!!

  • Somewhat disappointing but okay

by Old Southern Rocker on 2/28/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

This legendary band is still rockin' after all the years and the inevitable changes that have taken place. Loved the guitars, the flute and sax and the drummer was phenomenal. The venue, Talking Stick Ballroom was far from ideal for the show and the acoustics were not good at all. The sound system was terrible. It sounded like they were pushing for all the volume they could get, at the cost of any sound quality. Could barely hear (or understand) the lead vocalist, but that may have been my 60 year old ears (after a lot of concerts in my younger days). Overall, an enjoyable show. Even though they only played for 1.5 hours

  • Marshall Tucker at Talking Stick

by Dog on 2/28/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

Music much too loud, seating way too crowded. Left early

  • Worst show in my 50+ years of Concerts

by JoeMaMa on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

My Wife and I left this show after 3 songs. I have never left a show that early. Someone dropped the ball on the sound check. The music was oppressively loud. Marshall Tucker band created a lot of good music. It is over now. The singer’s voice is shot. The ballroom at the talking stick is not a good venue for a concert. The seating being on one level makes it difficult to see from the back rows.

  • Minor Disappointment

by DodgerDan on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

Have seen the Marshall Tucker Band since the 70's - this will probably be my last time - lead singer Doug Gray can only sing at about 50% - the rest of the band has to take up the slack and play long instrumental songs to fill up the concert - minor disappointment

  • great musicians

by jhb on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

They played great. the guitar rifts were excellent. Henderson was awesome. The singer butchered a few of the songs, but had a great time!!

  • Too old

by Long time concertgoer on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

The experience was a disappointment the lead singer is too old to sing anymore The lead singer should turn the vocals over to an younger singer in all my years I have never experienced a flute performance like that very very talented the guitar players were also awesome playing the chords just as I remember them on the albums

  • The band was great, but the venue…

by Tim on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 4 out of 5

The band was excellent, true to their roots musically, with voices not affected by age. The venue was awful. A ballroom at the resort/casino had terrible acoustics and seating that was “convention-style” padded chairs. At least it was reserved seating.

  • Terrible Sound

by Me on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 2 out of 5

So disappointed in this concert!! Terrible sound….waay too loud. Base speakers needed something, anything! We put paper in our ears. The lady next to us handed my husband ear plugs. Where was the sound check in the audience?????

  • Very disappointing

by GB on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

I didn’t know what to expect with only one surviving band member, glad I didn’t have any expectations, wish it was better. Very disappointed, quite frankly it was more like a flute concert 😕. The guitar players were excellent the “concert” was far from it.

  • Sound

by Nicki on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 2 out of 5

The band was good but the concert was way too loud. I have never left a concert early but had to. The sound guys definitely dropped the ball.

  • WAY TOO LOUD

by Pam on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

ONE PERSON IN MY PARTY LEFT. THE REST OF US HAD TISSUE IN OUR EARS.

  • Terrible Venue and Acoustics

    by Avalon1005 on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

The sound system and acoustics in the Ballroom at Talking Stick are absolutely terrible. Second time I've been there and was hoping for a marked improvement. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Stayed for 2 songs and left. Tremendously disappointing as I had looked forward to seeing the band one more time.

  • Saving the eardrums

by Cat V on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

The sound system was so loud and muffled that most of the audience had their fingers in their ears. We left after the second song. Others left before us. Not sure how many left after.

  • Great show; superb musicianship!

by Daddyo on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Other than it being too loud, this was a terrific concert. Though Marshall doesn't quite have the voice anymore, his band more than made up for it.

  • Disappointed

by Debbie on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

Was soooo looking forward to seeing Marshall Tucker. Great memories and great songs. Unfortunately the lead singer's voice has seen better days. (In his defense he's the the only original member left!). The band spent way too much time on drum, guitar, and flute solos. Would have much preferred hearing more of their iconic songs.

  • Terrible.

by Steve on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 1 out of 5

The music was too loud. You couldn’t hear the words to the song. At times the music made my chair vibrate. Walked out during the second song. The venue wasn’t what we were expecting. This was nothing more than a large hall with portable chairs. All in all a very bad experience.

  • WAY TOO LOUD

by RMC on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 2 out of 5

Marshall Tucker Band was never a "loud"band, as I remember them back in the 70s. But this concert... either the room sucks accoustically, or the guy running the board is deaf, because I am almost deaf now, too. Many older (than me) people there covering up their ears or turning their hearing aids off. I had ear protection and it was still too loud. I'm gonna say it's the room because Little River Band (last year, also a "pop"band) was a similar experience. The really weird thing is that the videos I made with my iPhone sound fine. Wish I could give a better rating. Probably my last indoor concert other than jazz.

  • Lived a Good Life

by Hursty on 2/27/24Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleRating: 3 out of 5

The poor original lead singer, he could barely sing half the songs, his voice just is not able to perform. Give him credit for still being out there and in good spirits. Rest of the band, especially the flute/sax player were top shelf. The night brought back lots of good memories, still glad we went!
