The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

  • Excellent concert experience

by JohnH on 12/2/25Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

They played all the favorites: Fire On The Mountain, Heard It In a Love Song, and of course the Toy Caldwell penned classic Can't You See, to enthusiastic response from the crowd. I heard before I even purchased tix for the concert that Doug Gray the original vocalist, was taking medical leave of the tour as recommended by his doctors. However, the other vocalist gave a seamless performance, and "liked the warm, fuzzy reception madison gave the group."

  • Good but certainly older.

by JG on 11/10/25Barrymore Theatre - MadisonRating: 3 out of 5

The MTB consisted of only 5 people, 3 on guitars, 1 on drums and only one guy who had to play saxophone, flute, and keyboard. There was no one who played violin, piano, or steel guitar. While the guy who played flute and saxophone was good, the overall experience was underwhelming. Too much reliance on electric guitar. It didn’t help that we were next to 6 women who talked throughout the entire concert.

  • Other reviews make sense

by LKo on 11/4/25Rating: 1 out of 5

Read many of the 1-2 star reviews with some blaming the venue acoustics or the lack of sound check. Actually, the loud volume and extensive instrument solos are a contrived cover-up to hide that the lead singer can no longer sing - he can only talk his way through songs that are slowed WAY down. When he can’t talk, he wants the audience to sing. It’s sad. I loved them once. Now I’m mad that I wasted so much money on such an awful, phony concert.

  • Mezzanine

by MJ on 10/29/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

The Marshall Tucker Band was great!!! However the lights from the stage are blinding when you are sitting in the mezzanine. If you have health issues that are triggered by bright lights then the mezzanine isn't for you. I thought that the lights in the mezzanine were a fluke when I went to Allman Brett Family Reunion however not so. I'll go back the the Paramount again great place for concerts - just not in the mezzanine.

  • Not what I was expecting

by Kh on 10/29/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

I was disappointed that they didn’t play more of their old songs. I wasn’t expecting all of the guitar jam sessions They are very talented musicians.

  • Poor vocals. Short show.

by Ks on 10/29/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

The vocal representation of the original bands music is poor. They try. The show was just barely 1.5hrs. Was my favorite band when in my teens.

  • Good night out

Have followed the band since 1974, have been to many shows and never been disappointed, this one was as good as any, for the venue size it could have been turned down maybe a notch or two on the sound board, but overall great to hear all the old songs live.

  • The band was incredible very talented
