Formed by guitarist/composer Omar Rodríguez-López and singer/lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta rose from the ashes of El Paso punk-rock firebrands At The Drive-In in 2001. Ona mission to "honor our roots and honor our dead", The Mars Volta made music that fused the Latin sounds Rodríguez-López was raised on with the punk and underground noise he and Bixler-Zavala had immersed themselves in for years, and the futuristic visions they were tapping into. The albums that followed were one-of-a-kind masterpieces, their songs of breath-taking complexity also possessing powerful emotional immediacy. After the group fell silent, a legion of devotees (including Kanye West) kept up an insistent drum-beat for their return. Now-a year after 'La Realidad De Los Sueños', aluxurious 18-LP box-set compiling their back catalog, sold out its 5,000 print run in under 24 hours-The Mars Volta are back.
Throughout their career, The Mars Volta have brought played many famous venues to capacity, like Tabernacle in Atlanta and Terminal 5 in New York.

I’ve been to over 20 concerts, and seen the Mars Volta 7 times, this was the best they’ve ever sounded, and the best show I’ve ever been too. Next level musicianship.
I've been fortunate enough to see Tool three times, attend all four days of the Aftershock festival and catch Roger Waters this year. Out of all those Mars Volta was my favorite, and I'm a tool mega fan, they sounded incredible especially on the last day they played in LA. I'm hoping to see them again at some point because vocally and instrumentally they flippin rocked my world.
The Mars Volta put on a great show on 23 October at the Hollywood Palladium. Prog rock with a dash of psychedelia and a healthy dose of Latin & jazz rhythms thrown in. What’s not to like?!?
The Mars Volta came back in full form and proved that they can still kill a set after a 10 year absence. Track transitions were seamless and the new members gave way to some great jam moments (I.e. Omar’s solo in Cygnus or the piano solo in L’Via). Absolutely must see show. 10/10
I've wanted to see The Mars Volta for YEARS. I had accepted a long time ago that would never happen. The fact that I was able to see them in a spot as intimate as the Hollywood Palladium was truly amazing. My little heart was so full. Thank you Cedric and Omar for putting this together and thank you everybody else involved for making this happen <3
Great performance, great people around amazing staff
Only seen the Mars Volta one other time but the show they put on tonight was absolutely incredible. They sounded and performed so beautifully that it just hit on a different level. This was a masterpiece and thank you Omar and Cedric so giving us a show of a lifetime. Forever TMV!!
I’m a sucker for live events so I expect certain things from all departments during . From a person who does operations in an arena environment, safety plus customer service is a must . And the palladium exceeded both of these . Easy to get in, safety was number one because you never know now a days , and the ticket takers plus ID staff were all friendly . A++
Amazing, amazing band. Crowd was also great and just an amazing experience. Have waited for these guys 11 years to see them live again and did not disappoint.
Perfect performance. Sound like their albums, no chit chat, they just play. Also, love the jam sessions in the middle of their songs.
So glad the Volta are back! Everyone was amazing! Love Teri too!!
I really enjoyed the show. The Mars Volta is an amazing band and the show was fantastic.
Hands down the best concerts this year! Maybe best shows ever. I went both nights in Seattle. Amazing, spectacular. This band is magical. Intelligent. Improvisational. Emotional.
I’ve been waiting for this gig for years! It was absolutely incredible! Can’t describe it with words. My Apple Watch started freaking out as my heart rate had gone rapidly up mid-way the show. So, that says it all!
For several years I was unsure if The Mars Volta would ever return so I jumped at the opportunity to grab tickets. This was an amazing experience. The band was great and incredibly talented. I can't help but feel like the sound was off at times. I wanted to feel the drums and percussion but they often felt washed out by guitars but that is really the only missed opportunity in my opinion. Can't wait to see them again.
You can tell that they have matured and settled down a bit. The Mars Volta now and the band they are on tour with, you feel as if each member is no better than the next. Sonically they compliment each other so well. Two straight hours of rocking tunes, eclectic jams and good vibes. This could have been in the 60's even. Excellent show.
They were outstanding. They played beautifully. The performance was great. Sound was amazing.
Amazing live. A vibe from start to finish. Wish they sold all their past CD's. I bought the bucket hat but it's a little tight. They only had one size.
