I thought the magpie salute was good, but their singer doesn't have a very wide vocal range. Chris Robinson is a much better singer.
This band, essentially half the personnel from the original Black Crowes, with Marc Ford, Sven and Rich Robinson in tow, is one of the very finest American rock bands still touring. They only played a handful of Crowes songs Saturday night, but I swear it didn't matter. They played the best of the original songs from the two MS albums, a few Marc Ford numbers, and also a cover or two, sprinkled in. It was a very high energy show, they were really tight and awesome. All great musicians and the singer is very very good too. Another piece of good news? They don't overcharge for tickets either. If you get a chance to see them, just go. Great, great band, I hope they are together for years to come.
Great place to see live Music. Magpie Salute is as tight as the Crowes used to be. Good old rock n' roll!
The Magpie Salute was amazing not to be missed when they tour
A band I will definitely go see again and tell my friends about.
Fantastic shows! Great set selections!!! The band is on fire these days, and could not be a better bunch of people as well!
This past weekend's Magpie Salute shows at Aura in Portland, ME, The Cabot Theater in Beverly,MA, and The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom were all absolutely amazing. I feel as if this band is the last authentic rock and roll band around - at least in terms of one that's active and making *excellent* new music. Seeing this band live is not just "live music" it's a true experience that should not be missed.
An unforgettable evening. Bandsarted withan intimate acoustic set and then grooved into a high energy set. A great blend of new material and vintage Crowe’s. My only complaint is that sometimes it was hard to hear John’s vocals. Can’t wait to see them again.
True rock n roll in your heart & your soul. Go to this show!!!!
The band gave us everything they had, despite the venue being empty. Great show. The HARMONIES! The soul!
It was a good nite of live music ! Rich has an extensive guitar collection which he uses throughout the show !
The Magpie band was terrible, the singer stood on stage yelling at the concert goers for not clapping and being on their phones and basically not being excited enough for them. This little rant went on and on for over 5 minutes, he was preaching to us and that they and he were something wonderful and that we should be honored to be in his presence. Well his little rant yelling at the people who paid to see him did nothing for most and the crowed was turned off even more. The band also had very low energy they just stood there playing, there were long silences between songs the leader has no people skills, perhaps rather then yelling at the crowd he should practice and learn how to interact with them. Talk or tell us something about the next song or something. They were a glorified cover band.
Wayland was so awesome! The magpie salute was aweful! Sound was terrible! Band members were oblivious to the crowd until we started leaving!
Excellent show. New stuff is pure Rich and Marc. As the Crow Flies was an embarrassment compared to these guys and the CRB is a totally different jam all together...good, but not at all in the vein of the Crowes. Highly recommend seeing these guys if they visit your town.
The band was fantastic and the power was exceptional. I am a long time Black Crowes fan and I was totally satisfied !
I will be traveling to hear this band as much as I can - they are amazing.
I went both nights. More crowded and a better show the second night. Just wish they would play more of Rich's solo stuff and integrate it in more often. They play a bit imo too much of the Crows which was good but have to admit i'm still adjusting to the new singer. Wish he would interact a bit more with the audience. Marc Ford was awesome as was the rest of the band. Good solid show.....
Had a magnificent time at this show. Sound was solid, had a great vantage point upstairs overlooking the stage. Cant say enough about this band! And was happy to see them pretty much sold out on the 16th.
I had the pleasure of seeing this band three times this tour. I have to say that Irving Plaza was my favorite! What a band! Cannot wait to see what they have in store for 2018!
