I'm a Black Crowes fan, so I figured this would be a good show. I was right-- it WAS a good show. It could have been a GREAT show if the sound was better. The band has an excellent lead singer, but every time he stepped up to the mic all I could hear was muddied vocals that were way too loud. The instruments seemed to be a decent levels, but the vocals were painfully ear-shattering. I had earplugs in and yet I could still feel the pain, even the next day.
The music was topnotch, though. The band did a mix of original songs, with some covers thrown in. They did a cover of Pink Floyd's, "Fearless," which sounded amazing.
Very tight and well-rehearsed, I'd definitely recommend The Magpie Salute. I'll see them again, for sure.
