    Rock & Roll lives!

by Jbones72 on 11/19/17Irving Plaza - New York

Having seen TMPS first show earlier this year the progress they've made really shows. That first show was great but a year of touring has shaped them into a well run machine. Looking forward to the new double album and tour next year.

I saw Magpie Salute for their opening shows at the Gramercy and at the TLA, all phenomenal shows. TLA is one of my favorite venues in the city.

WOW - what a show. I urge you to see them if they come to a town near you. They do not disappoint from the Crowes Tunes to Magpie Tunes. As. Crowes fan I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Nice show but not quite the Black Crowes!

by csharplaw1966 on 10/30/17Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Enjoyed the show but it was a little bit like the Black Crowes on Thorazine. The crowd was very small (less than 1,000 people) so you could roll a tumbleweed up to the stage and not hit anyone. Rich is a very talented guitar player and I never got a chance to see him from so close with the Crowes (because it was always more crowded). He has an amazing guitar collection (its like going got a museum when you can see what each one is) but he seems to be low energy at times and the three-guitar setup that they had was a little dense at times with very little space left after they filled it all up. I prefer a little but looser sound with more space between the notes and a little more dynamics, like the Stones and the early Crowes stuff. If you are a hard-core Crowes fan like me you would definitely enjoy the show but for anyone else, it might seem a little loud and tedious at times. I would say the highlight was their cover of Little Feat's "Fat Man in the Bathtub"...

    Magpie salute - bucket list

by Dlherb2 on 10/29/17Jannus Live - St Petersburg

Unmistakeably gifted musicians. Soulful sound deeply entrenched in southern rock n blues. Fan of the Robinsons and Ford for decades. Hogg as lead singer...awesome. Perfect blend and harmonies. The wonderful backup singers were icing on the cake. It was a rare treat to finally see them live. On the bad side...the sound setup did not do them justice. Also, the band didn’t seem engaged in the event....going through the motions. Guess that can happen after 30+ years. That bummed me out and put a wet blanket on my anticipation of seeing some of my favorite musicians of all time. So much potential. I hope they can pick up the momentum and keep cranking out some great new music. Hats off to Magpie Salute.

    What a show!

by MPav1969 on 10/29/17Jannus Live - St Petersburg

The venue was outdoors, the weather was perfect, and the band was amazing! They played old Black Crowes stuff, solo stuff, unforgettable covers, and sounded oh so fine. I can’t wait to see them again. I LOVE this band!

    The Magpie Salute

by gotlostinthe80s on 10/24/17House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

thunderous statement that former Black Crowes members Rich Robinson, Marc Ford and Sven Pipien are ready to pick up where they left out.the band operates in the same soulful, rock and blues space, which isn’t too surprising considering the core of both bands are the same (the band even covers Crowes standouts “What Is Home” and “Wiser Time”). The group also benefits from the built-in chemistry formed during Crowes years that allows for the core to confidently add new musicians to the mix, and it informs the flow and cohesiveness of the outfit’s jams.

    Great band!

by Jame0 on 10/22/17Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

It will be very interesting to watch this band develop. They put on a great rock n roll based mainly on Black Crowes' tunes and a few covers. Definitely check these guys and gals out if they're in town.

    meh

    by JasonMac7 on 8/29/17Buckhead Theater - Atlanta

Long time Crowes+ concert goer. In short, Rich as solid as they come - 3 backup singers were great (Charity didn't really get to showcase prob b/c the setlist) - the singer (Hogg) filled in decent enough...screwed up lyrics here and there but good energy and did his part. The drummer and keyboardist were tucked way in back and sunk down and therefore non-existent (maybe it was the setup). Unfortunately, Marc Ford has lost a step on guitar (still good tho, don't shoot the messenger) despite Rich trying to engage with him and stir up old magic - Ford also put the crowd to sleep on the 2 songs (his songs) that he sang - just didn't fit the overall vibe of the show. Sven solid. Loved hearing some dusted off Crowes material but overall the venue/music was a tad loud and they didn't really engage with the crowd at all - there were 2-3 big opportunities to let the crowd carry out and sing the refrain outro - just pause the music and soak it in Rich. For 40 bucks, was decent show.

    The Magpie Salute in Atlanta

by McVoo on 8/21/17Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

The show was awesome. High energy the whole time. Great musicianship, as one would expect. It was loud though. I stood behind the soundboard and their decibel meter topped out at 109 dB.

Great Show! It was so good to see the guys smiling and having fun, not to mention the great show they put on. I always love watching Rich orchestrate the show and see he and Marc play off of each others guitar.

This band is tight. 30 years of music crammed brilliantly into a set. Great stage presence. Will go whenever they come close. A must see!!!

The Magpie Salute-- Something to "Crowe" About

    by Magnolia68 on 8/16/17The Paramount - Huntington

I'm a Black Crowes fan, so I figured this would be a good show. I was right-- it WAS a good show. It could have been a GREAT show if the sound was better. The band has an excellent lead singer, but every time he stepped up to the mic all I could hear was muddied vocals that were way too loud. The instruments seemed to be a decent levels, but the vocals were painfully ear-shattering. I had earplugs in and yet I could still feel the pain, even the next day. The music was topnotch, though. The band did a mix of original songs, with some covers thrown in. They did a cover of Pink Floyd's, "Fearless," which sounded amazing. Very tight and well-rehearsed, I'd definitely recommend The Magpie Salute. I'll see them again, for sure.

The Magpie Salute are what music should be about

by MarcFordfan on 8/15/17The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

What other group of talented musicians go out every night and play a different set list every show with virtually no repeats? You never know what is coming next and I love it. You can see and hear their enthusiasm for what they are doing. They are better without the cancer that Chris Robinson became with his diva attitude. The vocals are solid.
