About
As the creation of Curtis Everett Pawley, a pillar of New York's downtown music scene,
The Life has quickly gained recognition since releasing their debut single "Grace" in
early 2023. Their modern take on alternative music has not only earned The Life critical
acclaim from publications like NME and The FADER, but everyone from Interview to
The New York Times hails Pawley as one of the most influential New Yorkers on the
scene today.
Pawley is committed to preserving the DIY scene of New York and has thrown
unforgettable parties and performed in unique venues such as Chinese restaurants on
Wall Street, Russian Tea Rooms, and even a former president's residence.
Pawley fully embodies the spirit of the city's underground arts scene and showcases
new talent through not only live events, but also his acclaimed podcast The Ion Pack,
which has featured guests ranging from movie stars like Jonah Hill, cult icons like Paul
Schrader, and new up and coming artists.
This summer, The Life will embark on a series of performances in Europe, which
includes; opening for The 1975, headlining shows, and DJing with Interpol. The band
will also release their second single "Strong Spirits," which Pawley describes as a "an
ode to apathy and exhaustion, here to get you through the summer."
Whether he's hosting Kaufman-esque interviews, hauling amps up abandoned shopping
malls, curating film screenings, or DJing alongside Diplo at the Pornhub Awards (yes
that really happened), Pawley is up to something... and right now, it’s The Life
soundtracking your summer.
