Overpaid for such a long and dull play
This play was way too long and the characters Harley had any props. The acting quality was good, but it was just too long. I have seen better shorter and more entertaining at the independent theaters in Chicago. I cannot believe this won best play.

Too long
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
I feel like many parts of it could have been more concise, and I was disappointed that there was nothing on the 2008 financial crisis… however, I do understand that “The Lehman brothers” were no longer involved.

Superb
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
Don't let the three fifty-five minute acts deter you from attending this production. The play was so intense that the time will fly. The three performers were excellent. Set was excellent. Would see it again.

I left after the first act!
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
This was not my cup of tea. Although I thought it was clever in it's production, I would rather read a book than sit through someone reading it to me.

Positive recommendations were true
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
I had heard very positive things about the show and they were true. I am very pleased I made the time and that cheaper tickets opened up at the last minute for the Friday show in Chicago considering it closed on Saturday. The two main actors were really good and the show, a bit longer than normal, never lagged. And, in the show I saw, Brian Fimoff filled in, and he did a wonderful job, seriously. If The Lehman Trilogy comes to a stage near you, make the time and effort. You will not be disappointed.

Least enjoyable play experience, ever
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
I love theater. I love all kinds of theater. I'm love musicals, as well as thought-provoking drama. I love low-key plays with just dialogue and little action. I love good character development. Sadly, this play had none of these qualities. The show was extremely tiresome and dull. It's was a factual diatribe. We were lectured to for over three hours. My husband and I both fell asleep! (First time that's ever happened to me!) The characters spoke in the third person; there was no direct dialogue. There was no emotional content, so we could not root for or identify with a character. There was no change of costume. There was no tension. This was the least enjoyable theater experience of my life. p.s. Wear your heaviest sweater - theater is freezing! I wore my heavy winter coat the entire time.

Perfect except for the guy chewing ice cubes
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
Friendly and helpful staff. Seamless entry system. The play (Lehman Trilogy) was outstanding. The theatre should rethink selling drinks people bring back to their seats if there are ice cubes involved. Guy behind me started crunching ice during the third act, which detracted from my experience.

Fantastic Play!!
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
This is one of the best plays I’ve seen in years! Very interesting, creatively written and staged, and the acting - all done by 3 actors playing all the roles - was superb!

Great Performances but More on 2008 Collapse Needed
Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago
Actors were great. History lessons abound. While already long, playwright should have spent more time at end explaining downfall due to speculation on predatory mortgages.
THE LEHMAN TRILOGY, winner of the 2022 Tony Award for Best Play, weaves together nearly two centuries of family history in an epic theatrical event charting the humble beginnings, outrageous successes, and devastating failure of the financial institution that would ultimately bring the global economy to its knees. Told in three parts over one evening, THE LEHMAN TRILOGY is the quintessential story of western capitalism, rendered through the lens of a single immigrant family. On a cold September morning in 1844, a young Jewish man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is soon joined by his two brothers, and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they establish--Lehman Brothers--spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy, triggering the largest financial crisis in history.
TimeLine Theatre's production of THE LEHMAN TRILOGY is its Chicago premiere. The Broadway production of THE LEHMAN TRILOGY was met with extraordinary international acclaim. The Guardian proclaimed it "a kaleidoscopic social and political metaphor" and "an intimate epic about the shifting definition of the American Dream." The Chicago Tribune praised it as "a masterwork" and The New York Times as "a vivid tale of profit and pain." Vanity Fair raved that it is "true blockbuster theatre that will hold you captive until the final curtain call," with Time Out New York saying "it leaves you dazzled." And The Wall Street Journal declared that THE LEHMAN TRILOGY "surpasses all praise."
