The Last Rockstars on Tour

Four staples from the Japanese rock scene are joining forces to take the world by storm with The Last Rockstars. Members Yoshiki, Hyde, Sugizo, and Miyavi have such influence in the J-Rock scene that after premiering just two songs, the group announced an international tour. Spanning across Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles, The Last Rockstars Live Debut 2023 tour is already sold out across the four Tokyo shows and both American stops with an additional show at the New York Hammerstein Ballroom added due to high demand. In December 2022, the super group released their first single "THE LAST ROCKSTARS (Paris Mix)" via Ingrooves Music Group and immediately shot up to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Rock and All Genres charts in Japan. The song helped set the tone for what will assuredly be a high-energy, upbeat and emotional live show experience. A few weeks later in January of 2023, The Last Rockstars released a music video for the song, which skyrocketed to over a million views on YouTube within the first three days.

The Last Rockstars Live in Concert

Leading the band from the drums and piano is Yoshiki, a Japanese rock icon who previously led X Japan. During his time with X Japan, Yoshiki performed on some of the biggest stages in the world, such as Coachellal, Madison Square Garden and Wembley Arena. Along with his achievements with X Japan, Yoshiki was also a member of S.K.I.N. and has composed Hollywood film soundtracks as well as being awarded the Medal of Honor from the Japanese Government for his philanthropy. Covering vocals for the group is Hyde -- an internationally recognized vocalist for L'Arc-en-Ciel, and Vamps, with more than 40 million albums sold worldwide -- who has headlined shows at Madison Square Garden. Hyde has also seen success as a solo artist and has toured internationally as a solo act. On guitar is Sugizo, who was also a member of X Japan but also played with Luna Sea. Sugizo is also known for writing trance and psy trance, a genre of electronic dance music, as a member of the group Juno Reactor. Also on guitar is Miyavi, known for his "finger-slap" style of playing guitar for Dué le Quartz and S.K.I.N. with Yoshiki. Not only is he known for his music talents, but Miyavi has also appeared in the hit films Unbroken, Kong: Skull Island and Stray.

    Fun and safe

by anne on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

I got to be up at the very front, so I was able to see safety/security staff at work. I was really thankful for them. Oh! Only huge issue was that someone wrapped the line incorrectly and messed up some people’s time :( felt bad for all that. They transposed the middle section incorrectly and mixed in the last people with them.

The. Best. Concert. The Last Rockstars!

by Rudie on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Loved it sooo much! The set list was great and the show was great!!. Yoshiki, Hyde, Sugizo and Miyavi were all outstanding — individually, and as a band. So energetic and excited! Lighting was superb. Band-Maid, opening band, were very good. I went to this concert especially to see Yoshiki! Wow!!! Can’t wait to see him and the band again. Would have liked to have assigned seating at this venue instead of SRO.

It was my first time seeing The Last Rockstars. I’ve been to a few of Miyavi’s concerts and he’s just so awesome. The Last Rockstars really rocked the stage that night in LA. It was an unforgettable experience for me.I’m still hyped up about that concert. I will definitely see them again if they’re ever in the US.

    waiting was too long!

by Little stars on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

The venue was nice, but the performance didn’t not start until 9:30pm even though the gate open was supposed to be 7pm. We are standing and waiting in a crowd such a long time, so we were so tired. It would be nice they at least announced estimated wait time, then we could walk around and go get drinks and bathroom while waiting so long.

though Honey was the only song I’m very familiar and could sing along, the show itself was so accomplished and they were so cute and glamorous👍✨

    Waited 17 years for this.

by Saint on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

After seventeen years of listenership and fandom of each individual artist in The Last Rockstars, I am completely overwhelmed with my experience. This meant so much to me, and for this to have been my first time at The Palladium, my first time seeing Miyavi, Hyde, Sugizo and Yoshiki, at an entirely sold out event, there were NO kinks in my experience. I am so grateful for the availability of upgrades, I sure tf paid $180 extra for this once in a lifetime experience. The staff was amazing, and they handled us all like true professionals. Not a conflict in sight, all evening. I brought my eleven year old self to this concert, and she had a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone!

    Concert of a lifetime

by Umbra on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Seeing these legends come together to create a show that was so incredible was breathtaking to say the least. Despite technological hiccups and poor management on the part of the venue (Hollywood Palladium), these guys still did wonderfully at keeping the energy up and putting on an awesome show. 10/10! I just hope they come back to the west coast so I can buy tickets to see them again soon!

    Great band, terrible venue

by Sad on 2/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

First things first, it took so long to get inside that we missed the opening band completely despite lining up more than an hour in advance. The main floor is largely flat with some smallish platforms neae the back, so since we couldn't see anything other than the drum set, so we paid for a VIP upgrade with the promise of a view. Only then we were just in a pricier area and still couldn't see anything. I don't expect a perfect view at every show, but we tried everything. Near the stage, back of the floor, up by the bar, up by audio, VIP... and just nothing. I saw a glimpse of the vocalist's hair once. We felt like we didn't even go to a concert, just a solo drum expo. It was disappointing over all. We want more Japanese bands here, but venues like this make shows hard to show bands support.

    An Emotional and Uplifting Ride

by DarkMiyavizm on 2/9/23Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

Didn't know what to expect going into it but Visual Kei and JRock, being a major fan of Miyavi over the years and my 2nd time seeing him after 15 years. The playlist is very catchy, making you want to get up and dance as well as a lot of audience participation to get the crowd roaring. You can tell from the way they play, how much they enjoy sharing their music with you. Not knowing much about Yoshiki, he definitely hosted the night with heartfelt messages on why they do the things they do. Instantly became a fan and look forward to his music as well as the bands going forward. They really love all their fans. In this concert you'll experience new songs as well as few songs respective each member's previous groups (they are a super band after all!). Highly recommend going for the experience if you can! My favorites are definitely their main song The Last Rockstar and the song Yoshiki wrote named SHINE.

    Exciting, dynamic, just perfect!

by Jun on 2/8/23Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

I loved the show! The sound was perfect, the lights were spot on. I was already a fan of each of the members individually and together they are a powerhouse! I love how classic instruments mix in with the rock vibe and how immersive the show was.
