My wife and I really enjoyed the King and I. The sound was low but that is the theater's fault.
The cast, the music, the venue, etc. etc.etc. were all superb. The suite package was definitely well worth it! Fantastic orchestra.
Wonderful show with a talented cast with great chemistry. The kids in the cast were also great!
The music was lovely and the theater was absolutely beautiful. Great show!
Great show with important messages. Appropriate for mostly all audiences.
Truly a wonderful theatrical experience! King and Anna both were phenomenal. Having seen another production of King and I about a year ago, I would say this event surpasses that production! Truly loved each act and sing. Bravo! Brava!
We loved "The King and I" at the Oriental Theater. I went with my two daughters (19 and 14) and my husband. Everyone agreed it was a beautiful production. The cast was amazing, and the sets were gorgeous. There is a reason why these songs are classics!
Fantastic show. The actors were both funny and incredible singers.
The classic movie is a favorite and seeing it live on stage just truly special. The voice talent is amazing and although the beginning is a bit slow, the show starts picking up and earns it's entertainment appeal.
Enjoyed the music. The singing was wonderful. So enchanting.
The King and I was better than expected. Excellent story, easy to follow, superb acting. We all came away very impressed.
Though I'm not typically that into musicals or theater, I took my niece for her birthday, and we had a great time. It was her first big theatrical experience. When I asked her on a scale of 1 to 10 how much she liked it, she said "This was a 9 3/4." Haha And a new theater fan was born. While not all the songs were strong, the ones that were more than compensated and you really felt you saw something special.
Outstanding production. Perfect setting for this show.
Having had the opportunity to see the original, I can honestly say this was as good, if not better. From the moment the show started, the audience was drawn into the story. Each character was true, the music was fabulous, and the scenery, while minimal, led the audience into the world of Siam. While the entire cast was marvelous, Anna (Laura Michelle Kelly), the King (Jose Lana), Tuptim (Manna Nichols), and Lady Thiang (Joan Almedilla) were simply wonderful. Kudos to all of the children (Jaden D. Amistad, Kayla Paige Amistad, Adriana Braganza, Amaya Braganza, Mindy Lai, Rylie Sickles, Noah Toledo, and CJ Uy) for their effortless timing and spunk! If you haven't had the privilege of seeing " The King and I," see them before their run is done.
The Oriental theater was gorgeous! Our seats were in the balcony and a good view!
From the moment it started we were captivated!!! The acting, the costumes, the dialogue ... oh and the music!!! FANTASTIC! The only thing we are bummed about is that it didn't stay long enough for us to see it again!!! Please bring it back. It was simply wonderful!!!!
This show was a very enjoyable experience and the performance and story, while still the classic focuses on lesser storylines which make it more relevant today. While the first act moved a little slow at times, the second act was great with the Uncle Tom's cabin scene being a highlight. I would recommend this show
I don't have anything to compare it to since this was our first musical but we loved it! The costumes the props the singing and acting all get a five star from us! We are looking forward to going again. The Oriental theatre was gorgeous!
Came in with high expectations since the King and I is a classic Broadway show. However, something was off in this production. It was like they were "phoning it in". The costumes were nice and the set design was amazing, but the singing and acting was lackluster. It was like they didn't have any coffee that day or something. It just seemed tired. We ended up leaving during intermission which is something we have never done before. It's a shame.
My wife and I treated ourselves to a night out while our girls saw another show. I feel that we saw the best on. The Oriental Theatre is an amazing place and our seats were center balcony two rows up. It had been some time since I had seen the play or the movie but it all came back quickly. Such talent, from the youngest to the most veteran actor, it was charming and funny and thought provoking throughout. I would highly recommend seeing this production to anyone!
