About

THE KILLS IN CONCERT:

Indie duo The Kills let fans know what theyíre all about from the second they take the stage clad in leather jackets: theyíre ready to kick out their lo-fi tunes with a dangerous edge and tons of rock ëní roll swagger. Sneering frontwoman Alison Mosshart oozes pure mojo as she pounds out power chords and whispers her seductive vocals into the microphone. Guitarist Jamie Hince jumps in to deliver cutting lead lines while dancing around and conjuring bizarre sound effects from his overdriven amplifiers. They combine these hard-hitting elements with robotic drum machines to drive explosive rockers like ìNo Wowî and ìTape Songî with an insistent groove. But they can also slow the tempo on ballads like ìBlack Balloonî and ìRodeo Townî to add a melancholy bent without losing their riveting edge. In either case, each rough-and-tumble gem The Kills play on stage will leave ticket buyers breathless and begging for more.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer/guitarist Alison Mosshart first caught guitarist Jamie Hince playing a solo show when she was touring England in 2000 with her Florida-based punk band Discount. The two traded ideas through the mail for a couple years before Mosshart relocated to London in 2002 and the duo released their debut EP Black Rooster. The Kills built on the EPís success the following year with their first full-length album Keep on Your Mean Side. The unique lo-fi sound of the group caught the attention of The Raconteurs frontman Jack White, who invited them on tour. The increased exposure helped them become indie darlings with the release of critically adored albums like No Wow (2005) and Midnight Boom (2008). Both members continue to split their time between The Kills and side projects, such as Mosshartís collaboration with Jack White in The Dead Weather. But fans remain eager to see what thrilling new sounds The Kills cook up both at their raucous live shows and on their highly anticipated fifth album.

    The Kills Summit Denver

by MikeHadFun on 2/13/24Summit - Denver

Overall great show from a band that hasn’t touring since 2017/2018. Good energy, decent playing front VV & Hotel but the sound in the balcony was terrible, with vocals being lost on n the mix. Same sound issue with The Paranoyds who opened. They were very good also

Fun Kills show at a venue new to me.

by BikerTrash on 2/13/24The Union - Salt Lake City

Once we found the Union it was on! Neither my wife or I had been to an event at thls venue and spent a minute figuring out the best way to get there (not a problem in the future). We both liked the Union and look forward to seeing more shows there. The girl band Paranoyd opened the show and they were very high energy and a lot of fun. This was my first Kills show and they were a blast. Loud, manic and very entertaining. I loved their set and felt like my expectations were exceeded by their performance. I'm hoping they return to SLC soon.

    Very Disappointing

by Anonymous on 3/25/17Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I was extremely excited for this show. I thought the vocal levels were off and aside from when she played the keyboard the overall sound was poor. Not the show I was expecting at all.

    Rocked It!

by JARNYC on 9/26/16Terminal 5 - New York

What a great concert...a real mix of old and new material from start to finish. Alison Mosshart rocked the stage while Jamie Hince interjected with dirty guitar riffs and effortless cool. Highlight for me was Siberian Nights which had everyone jumping.

    The Kills Amazing Energy

by DocMag on 9/26/16Terminal 5 - New York

The Kills are an amazing recorded duo but on stage they are just amazing. Alison Mosshart has fantastic stage presence, great voice range and ability to engage the audience. She moves with the music and could not take my eyes off her. Jamie Hince is a great guitarist and his chemistry with Alison make the experience even more enjoyable. A must see show! You won't be dissatisfied.

    Awesome show. Awesome band.

by StevenJon on 9/26/16Terminal 5 - New York

After 15 years and several amazing albums, why aren't The Kills bigger than they are?! That's what I asked myself when I left Terminal 5 last Friday evening after seeing them live for the first time. Prior to that, I was only familiar with a couple of songs from their last two albums (Blood Pressures and Fire & Ice) that my 24-year-old son introduced me to (I'm 56). So to say I went in with low expectations is a gross understatement. Man was I blown away. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince own the stage with rowdy confidence. Alison, with her wild mane of (newly) blonde hair and willowy, gyrating frame, oozes a combination of sexy playfulness and raw aggression, while Jamie attacks his ax with gleeful abandon (a grin rarely leaves his face) - one of the most commanding guitar performances I've seen in some time, especially impressive since I understand he recently had to re-learn how to play following numerous hand surgeries. The show was tempestuous and the packed venue of screaming fans rapturous. Do yourself a favor and catch The Kills next time they come around. You will not be disappointed.

    The Kills killed it!!!

by Lizachick on 9/26/16Terminal 5 - New York

First time seeing this band, and they exceeded my expectations. The sound was spot on and they covered all the familiar songs as well as those from the new album. A great flow to the set, will see them again!!

    Fried my Little Brains

by douchebag on 9/23/16State Theatre - Portland

Just discovered these guys and bought every album. They've got a style all their own and flaunt it.Jamie's guitar work is singularly unique. The chemistry onstage is that of deep and total love for each other, the music and the audience.

    The Kills slayed me!

by GitanaSoy on 9/18/16Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Oh my word. I can't encapsulate how fun this show was in words. I'm still recovering from the intensity of this duo and their band. Even watching Alison perform online is transfixing, so you can imagine them playing live. So crazy to picture either of them ever getting nervous, as they've said they do before every show...I can picture myself vomiting back stage, but not these forces of nature. Glad they are getting more recognition.

by JTinAL on 9/16/16Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

I have been listening to The Kills for quite a while. I got one of my friend to listening to them also. When I found out they were going to be in Atlanta, I got tickets for all of us right away. I knew the music was going to be good; but I was blown away by how good the show was. what a great event! Must see for anyone who loves good music and a great show.
