About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Amazing live show

Nothing short of spectacular. Just amazing live as they are on an album. They really got the crowd into it. It was a great experience and I'd definitely see them again.

Great venue, first time there. Every detail was first class. The setting for an intimate concert was so awesome! We love the band and the venue was so relaxing! Great job by the whole the venue and

  • Another awesome night with THATH

by Mmmgood80 on 11/5/23Hart Theatre at the Egg - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

2019 was the last time I had been able to see the Head and the Heart. I was long overdue for a show, and the band certainly made up for lost time. The new album in the setlist mix, the new jams... this band just gets better and better. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors were great openers and you do not want to miss them!

  • Bravo!

I cannot put into words how amazing this show was- but I’ll try. The theatre was very cozy, and small enough that you could feel the music in your core. And the lighting was great. Lights would turn on at the most perfect time during the songs; it really heightened the experience. I LOVED the opening band, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. I not ashamed to say I am now a diehard fan. Very funny, and outstanding music. They did a good amount of crowd work as well. The Head and the Heart were amazing! Perfect song lineup. Everyone was getting into the music and it was a great environment. The only criticism I have is that I wish they would’ve interacted with the crowd a bit more. Matt Gervais was getting into it and walking out into the crowd, but he was the only one. Only a few words throughout the show from the band. Overall amazing experience! Great staff and ambience. Would definitely recommend and will be returning for more shows!!!

  • Great band, mixer needed a retrain

by dreamwebber on 10/31/23Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

I am a huge fan of the band. I listen to them all the time and I was really excited that they came to my town. I had never seen them in concert other than watching videos of their concerts online. I don't know if it was the Memorial Auditorium staff and equipment, or the band's but the person handling the mixing that night had the bass and the keyboard/piano microphones too hot. Then pushed the singers mics so hot to compensate and they sounded muffled and overmodulated. It was especially an issue with Thielen's mic and Johnson's. The bass was so loud at points that it was almost painful to stand and listen, but everyone was standing so you couldn't sit to listen. In the future I think I will see them in an outdoor setting. I was a little disappointed in the set too. It just seemed that they didn't put much effort in the asthetics. I will still continue to love the band, but was disappointed with the mixing.

  • Fantastic

by Crimedogg on 10/30/23Savannah Civic Center - Johnny Mercer Theatre - SavannahRating: 5 out of 5

We had such great seats in Savannah to see The Head and the Heart. They are such a fantastic group. They sound better in person than they do on recordings. They really have fun doing what they do and I recommend them to anyone who loves music. A must see.

  • Amazing!

  • Indie folk to Indie rock

by Cr on 10/30/23Savannah Civic Center - Johnny Mercer Theatre - SavannahRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show. Tight arrangements, well practiced, mixed it up nicely btw folk & rock. Excellent sound system. The crowd was completely immersed, like a Greatful Dead show. There was dancing in the aisles!

  • The Head & the Heart - Chattanooga

by Wicked Obsessed on 10/28/23Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. Have seen this band twice now. Previously seen at Moon River Festival. They never fail to deliver a fantastic show. The Head & the Heart is the band I listen to most and would love for them to return to Chattanooga next year. They kill it with their most popular songs as well as all their others. I have never heard a bad song live or on any of their four CDs. All are great with fantastic harmony.

  • Fantastic night of music

by Brandi on 10/28/23Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

THATH never disappoints. I've seen them 5 times and every single show is fabulous. We enjoyed Amanda Shires as the opener. Such a fun night.

  • Sheer Perfection

by catz on 10/28/23Saenger Theatre Mobile - MobileRating: 5 out of 5

This band put on a show! From the second they came on stage until the last note of the final song they were amazing! I was gobsmacked by their energy, kindness to the audience and talent beyond words! Having seen them once before when they were my favorite at a festival in TN, they proved the second time around was equally as great!

  • Super Show!

I'll preface by saying that my wife and I had never seen The Head & The Heart before, and we weren't that familiar with their songs. We were blown away at how tight and engaging the band was - phenomenal show. The lyrics to many of their songs hit home and the way they performed are so uplifting. Easily a top 3 show we've seen at the Saenger Mobile. Really incredible - count me as a big fan now!

  • I love them so I let it go

by Christy on 10/27/23Saenger Theatre Mobile - MobileRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great. I felt like the acoustical music sounds were too loud and somewhat distorted. I had a hard time hearing the words to the songs I’m not as familiar with. Over all they were amazing. Their energy shined and they put on a fabulous show. The unique voices and words that seem to come from the heart get me every time.
