About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Great group, but....

by RaleighOwl on 3/23/12The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart are wonderfully talented and proved that again with their performance at the National. There were two preliminary bands. The first one was not great by any means, and was mediocre at best. The second band was truly awful! They were totally unworthy of the venue and the endorsement that opening for TH&tH implied. Even with one's mood somewhat depressed by enduring the second opening act, the main event was great--creative, energetic, varied, inspiring. The Head and the Heart will be one of the great bands of this era.

  • The Head and the Heart was absolutely phenomenal!!

    by Lucy19824298317 on 3/23/12The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

I love The Head and the Heart and when I heard that they were coming to the National I freaked out! The stage was beautiful, the opening bands were awesome and when the band actually came out the music was even better live than recorded, which I thought was impossible! I even cried during Rivers and Roads because it was so beautifully song. Excellent concert!

  • Once again, THATH claims my heart

by CastleForest on 3/23/12The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

My second time seeing the band live, this was a great performance. The evolution in the past few months has been a great one; new lighting, even greater stage presence, the addition of more new songs. This has renewed my anticipation of the second album. Now get to recording already!

  • The Head and the Heart was awesome

    by concertgoer23228 on 3/23/12The National - RichmondRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart put on an amazing show. The crowd was really into it and the band played off that energy. Very interactive show. The second opening band (The Pastor's Wives) was horrendous. It was by far the worst opening act I've ever seen and was painful to sit through. The signer even compared himself to Johnny Cash - not even close!

  • The Head and the Heart

    by Pattieladie on 3/21/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The band was beyond great. They interacted with audience. They stopped the show to announce pictures and video were alright by them. Brilliant musicians. A twenty minute encore. The only drawback of the evening was the venue at Terminal 5. It's close to impossible to find a good viewing spot. I found this terribly annoying. We searched high and low until accepting the view was awful.

head and the heart was great! however the bands that opened for them were terrible. they really should consider dropping them from their act

  • by Anonymous on 3/21/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

For a Sunday night, there was no reason to have 2 openers who each played a full set.. After the last opener, the band took about 30 minutes to actually go on stage. We waited 2 hours before the band actually went on which is really rude on a Sunday night. The 2 openers were the most terrible bands I have ever heard. They were just screaming and sounded awful. Not even in the same ballpark as the head and the heart. We were really dissapointed with them, why are the Head and the Heart touring with these tools? Once the Head and the Heart actually went on they were great but we could only stay for 2 songs because it was 11 by the time they actually started playing. What a disappointment. Will never be going back to terminal 5 ever again.

  • Fantastic show!

Have loved this band for awhile and was so excited to see them live. Their show exceeded my expectations. Fantastic sound live. Great energy! GO SEE THEM!

  • Sick show

Show was excellent, love the venue, rooftop bar is sick.

  • Simply amazing.

    by Nads15 on 3/21/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

After seeing The Head and the Heart at Bonnaroo last summer, I fell in love. Their music is amazing and this show was a testament to that. I would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

  • No words

    by tootiefrootie65 on 3/20/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

My vocabulary is not broad enough to fully describe how brilliant this show was. For me it was fun, entertaining, some of the best music I have ever heard and it was almost a spiritual awakening how good these performers were. I was a fan before, after this show I'm going to see them every chance I get.

  • Perfect Live

    by Krawczod on 3/20/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I loved every single song whether it was old or new. They played everything in the perfect order and with perfect harmony and I was extremely pleased with my experience.

  • by Anonymous on 3/20/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart were incredible, but Drew Grow and the Pastors' Wives (the second opening act) really, really needed to cut the last 2/3 of their set.

  • Took too long to come on stage

    by Anonymous on 3/20/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

Doors opened at 7P. They didn't come on stage until 10P. It was a Sunday night. I had to be up for work at 5A. I'm sure it would've been good if I hadn't had to leave after only seeing them an hour. :-(

  • by Anonymous on 3/20/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Was the best show I've seen in years. Place was electric. Great band. Good opening bands. Great venue. Great price ticket. Easy to get to and park.

  • Can't get their songs out of my head

The band was fantastic. I liked hearing their new material. They had a lot of energy.

  • The Head and the Heart show was ridiculously....

by Traftune on 3/19/12State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

FABULOUS! The band had a ton of good energy, the crowd had a ton of good energy, the sound was good (once I moved down from the balcony) and the harmonies gave me serious goosebumps. So awesome to have such great live music here in Portland Maine

  • I like their album and love them live.

by Gardiner on 3/19/12State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The drumming's more rousing and the piano a stronger part of the sound when H&H are live. I wanted to crawl into a couple of their songs (songs whose studio versions I enjoyed but wasn't overwhelmed by) and live there for days.
