About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • So Amazing!

by chefshannondale on 7/22/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the greatest shows that I have been to. The zoo is an amazing venue. And The Head and the Heart was very audience interactive and their music was great. I would see them again in a heartbeat.

What an amazing show! Damien was such a treat, loved that THATH watched with us on the lawn. I felt like the band really loved playing for Portland, they commented multiple times that they were thrilled to be back in the pacific NW. Great show, great crowd (singing every word to every song) and fun venue. Wish I could watch them play every night...

  • Loved the Head and the Heart, but the openers...

What a wonderful band! Amazing live! But they brought a good amount of other bands with them, so by the time Head and the Heart were on, my feet were already sore and I was tired, wondering how much sleep I could get before my early Monday morning. But I loved them very much and was glad I went! I would definitely see them live many more times.

  • their vocals blew me away

The members of The Head and the Heart have unbelievable vocal range. Fantastic energy on the stage. I would see them again if they came back to St. Louis.

  • HATH had me charmed from the very beginning!

    by rwilliam23 on 3/28/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

After seeing HATH at the Duck Room in Blueberry Hill this past summer, I had very high expectations for another fantastic show come March. I wasn't sure if it would even be possible, but HATH exceeded my expectations! From the moment they walked on stage and began their set, I was enthralled. This band means more to me than I could ever explain; their beautiful harmonies and unmatched energy on stage just gets me every time! Whether it was a new song I had yet to hear, or an old favorite I knew every single line to, I was nothing short of entertained the entirety of their set. If it were possible, I'd go see them at every stop on their tour- HATH have a very special place in my heart.

Cheap tickets, great venue, solid warm up bands, and The Head & The Heart delivered the show and quality I hoped for. Perfect night!

Great time. Thanks for revisiting St. Louis. The music and energy was outstanding.

  • An excellent group

    by oldhippie99 on 3/27/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Vocal harmony is magic and is sadly underused in the Pop music idiom these days. This group really does it well. Their band was also awesome. Great original songs well performed. I think these folks will be around for a while.

  • Awesome show!

What an awesome show! Can't wait for them to come back!

  • by ddanforth01 on 3/27/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to several shows at The Pageant, including Mumford & Sons and Bon Iver, but this one is right up there with those "bigger names" as one of the most memorable for me. The cohesion between the opening acts and the headliner was fantastic...all three bands performed incredibly well, even joining each other on stage at times. But it wasn't just that they were performing well that really made it so great, but rather that they were playing wholeheartedly. You could tell that everyone was up there because they truly loved the music they were playing and that they were just having such a great time playing it. It was so joyful and fun, and the entire audience joined into that. I wanted nothing more than to jump on stage, grab a tambourine, and join their happy family--but being front and center in the audience was just as good. It was an incredible show.

  • Best. Concert. Ever.

by aluck on 3/27/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

After enjoying the opener bands in the pit, I found my way to the front row of the pit when the Head and the Heart came out. They were absolutely amazing and an unforgettable experience that will encourage me to listen to my favorite band for many years to come. CANNOT WAIT until their next album comes out and looking forward more to when they return to St. Louis.

  • Great show!

by Anonymous on 3/27/12The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Great to see the comraderie between the 2 opening bands and the Head and The Heart. Awesome show and extremely talented musicians. Went in with mediocre expectations and became an even bigger fan! Would love to see them again. The only bummer was that the header did not come on till quite late but that is pretty minor.

  • by Anonymous on 3/26/12The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

This show was great-close to home for 2 of the band members, so the audience was really loving everything.

  • Top to Bottom Great Show

by Nitenite on 3/25/12The National - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

The show was opened by a Richmond based band called Black Girls. From their opening note, they had the sell-out crowd rocking! With stellar vocals, awsesome guitar and keyboard work, and anchored by a dynamic rythmn section, these guys were the perfect opening act! On the second to last song called "Get-Off", the other acts came on-stage and provided addition rythmn and vocals to send the sell-out crowd into a frenzy! Their album called "Hells Dragon" is a definite jem. I would see this group live anytime! The second group called Drew Grow and the Pastors Wives were great musicans but lacked the raw power the Black Girls provided. The Head and the Heart were headliners and did not dissapoint! This is by far the best band no one ever heard of! Slick four part harmonies, stellar keyboard and guitar work and backed by the best drummer you have seen in a long time! They had the crowd singing from start to finish. Go check these guys out when ever you get a chance!

  • by MrPinky on 3/25/12Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The two openers that played for about an hour each were not that good. The first band's singer was completely drowned out by the music, which wasn't even that good in the first place. The second opener did some very good experimental stuff, but for most was just too outlandish. I loved the steel guitar and the early pink-floyd they tried to channel, but went a little too far. When Head and the Heart came on, the music was so much better than their recordings. That was how great they were. They thanked the audience, looked like they had a great time, and made the concert an unforgettable one. THEY WERE AMAZING!

The Head and the Heart was awesome times infinity!
