About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

    A great discovery

by iDrinkMusic on 5/19/11Mercury Lounge - New York

The Head And The Heart sold out the Mercury Lounge for their very first headlining gig in New York and everybody agrees to say that the show was amazing. The packed room was either singing along and clapping during the most upbeat tunes and equally respectfully listening during the quietest ones. The band from Seattle, who also performed Late Night with Jimmy Fallon the following day, even played a brand new song. Hopefully they will come back to play in New York again soon.

    AMAZING!

by DustinBro on 5/19/11Mercury Lounge - New York

The album these guys (and gal) put out was amazing to begin with. BUT nothing comes close to the energy the bring performing live. They talked and joked with the audience through the show combined with the small venue made for an intimate show.

    the head and the heart

by ski2sky on 5/3/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

The band sounded great and the harmonies were awesome. But at the end of the night the band was just a little tame for my liking.

Outstanding show from the first note of the first band to the last note of THATH's encore!

You know it's a good show if the entire crowd sang along with the band for the entire set. The Head and the Heart in Portland was that show. It was beyond amazing.

I didn't love the opening bands but The Head and The Heart delivered a terrific show! I also really liked the venue!

The Head and the Heart blew me away!

by WebHedon on 5/3/11Wonder Ballroom - Portland

They keep coming around through Portland, and every time the crowd gets larger, more enthusiastic, and sings all of the lyrics to every song! This was such a great experience - they played some new songs which were amazing, as well as a "T is for Texas" cover - I believe they said Jimmy Rogers that was done very well. I really feel they are like one appearance on the Tonight Show away from being HUGE. Such good singers and songwriters, with great stage presence, and a total command of their instruments and the crowd. Loved it!

    Great Band, Average Venue

by QuiteConterrie on 5/3/11Wonder Ballroom - Portland

First off, I was already a fan of THaTH and they did not disappoint! The band has amazing energy and the crowd was into it. There was one drawback that was definitely not the band's fault. The Wonder Ballroom acoustics were pretty bad. I don't know if they couldn't make the adjustments the band was asking for (you could see various cues from the band over and over again regarding mics etc) or what but I was bummed because THaTH's biggest strength is their harmonies which were lost in the venue. Plus, something about the shape of the room amplified the random drunk sing along and muffled the band itself. I saw them at the Doug Fir just a few months ago with a similar sized crowd and they sounded exponentially better. I gave 4 stars this time: An average of 5 for the band and 3 for the venue

Head and the Heart amazing! rest of show...eh

    by pkgg21 on 5/3/11Wonder Ballroom - Portland

HATH were absolutely amazing.. My problems with the show were the start time and the fact that there were two opening acts, neither of which were particularly catching. It was on a Sunday and the show didn't start until 9 and ended around midnight. That would be fine for a weekend show but a little late for a Sunday show. HATH really only played for a little over an hour (although played through their entire album plus some new songs and covers). To make it a perfect show I would've like to start the show to start at 8 instead of 9, and have only one opener.

    Going to be huge

by Anonymous on 5/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

The Head and the Heart are the first band in a while that I have liked immediately after hearing them. Their stage presence is awesome, their spontaneity is excellent, and the show was a blast with the whole crowd dancing and shaking the dancefloor! I am going to try to see them live as many times as I can.

    Hottest new band from Seattle

by saltyd on 5/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

This band puts on a tremendously entertaining and high energy show. You can see that they have gotten very tight over the last year and seem to really enjoy playing. I love their new CD but my wife wasn't all that hot on them until she saw them live. Now she loves them. I like the different movements within each song which adds an intrigueing texture to the songs. Even the ballads have high energy moments. They sold out their first scheduled show in Seattle in less than 17 minutes and then added a 2nd show in a larger venue that sold out in 20 minutes. Get your tickets early.

by JeniAngel on 5/2/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I have seen The Head and The Heart (THATH) so many time around Seattle in the last year. They never disappoint. They gave Seattle exactly what we wanted-beautiful music you can clap your hands to with lyrics that touch your heart. They has really refined their set and are absolutely flawless. Amazing performance.
