The Head and the Heart in Concert
With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.
The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

Band fabulous!!!! Sound system a bit too loud. Lead-in bands worst I ever had to sit thru! I am not exagerating. GOD AWFUL.
This was my very first introduction to this group of musicians and I was quite impressed. I went on the recommendation of a friend. I was even mesmerized by the very talented drummer in the group. I thoroughly enjoyed their amazing ability to harmonize voices and the very diverse amount of music that I witnessed. I promptly went home to download my first load of The Head and the Heart music from iTunes. I look forward to their creation of more in the future. I expect them to be rising STARS!
They put on a great show. Only complaint is that I wish they played longer!
Love the Head and the Heart. Poignant lyrics, total professionalism in stage show, and fantastic musicianship. The two opening acts were talentless and completely boring; a thorough waste of two hours of my life.
opening acts were horrific and The Head and the Heart didn't go on until after 10pm. Sound was bad, stage was bad. Overall bad.
The bands performing at State Theatre were incredible. Unfortunately, many obnoxious people in the audience nearly spoiled my experience (Talking loudly during the performances, jostling for position in front of the stage and generally being rude). Head and the Heart made my angst disappear with their incredible vocal harmonies and stellar performance.
Okay, first of all, The Head and the Heart are quite good...what sucked about this show was the State Theatre kept turning up the volume until it was completely unbearable. The first two bands were absolutely rotten...screamers, not singers. When The Head and the Heart came out it was so much better until the piano came in and was obviously louder than the rest. Instead of toning down the piano, the mixer amps everything else up. It was ridiculous how The State ruined a good show. This place has natural wonderful accoustics and they need someone that knows that.
This group is unbelievably talented and amazing live!! I would have paid 5 times the amount of money I did for my ticket. Unreal night -- I feel badly for anyone who wasn't there.
I really enjoyed the headlining band, they sound just as good as their studio album. I just wish they had performed longer. I did not enjoy the 2 opening acts...they were loud and just not very talented...in my opinion.
I really enjoyed The Head and the Heart. However, the opening 2 bands were painfully loud. I have never needed earplugs at a concert in my life, however I had to purchase earplugs in the lobby to prevent my nerves from unraveling. I could barely hear the singers voices over the loud sounds. I might have enjoyed their music more if I were able to actually hear it. I don't know if this was a fault of the bands or of the State Theater. The people around me were equally uncomfortable (putting their fingers in their ears). Loud does not mean good.
My husband and I traveled 2 hrs for this show. It was worth every second and all the planning required to unload the kids for the weekend. The venue was amazing. The crowd sang along to more than 1/2 the tunes and the energy was high. I have seen the Head and The Heart before, but not like this. The momentum is definitely building and I'm so glad I was there to witness it. Shows are selling out, so get your tickets early. You won't be disappointed.
The bass was a little overbearing at first and vocals were quiet (and their vocals are what they're about).... But after a few songs they turned down bass and turned up vocals :-)
I didn't think it was possible to love TH&TH more, until I saw them perform in concert. They have a selfless and authentic passion for their music, which is truly infectious. I really enjoyed their new material, and am eagerly awaiting the release of their next album. Would absolutely see them again live!
Not only did the Head and the Heart sound wonderful, they were obviously having a great time. Loved when they brought the opening acts onto the stage to share in the songs.
Intricate and melodic harmonies often play well on CD, but flop in a live concert. Not so here. The Head and the Heart did not disappoint! Voices and instruments were all beautiful, and they sang and played with emotion and enthusiasm. They seemed really into it and seemed to be having a lot of fun. I enjoyed it all, but thought it was particularly nice when the opening bands ran on stage to join --- all dancing around and singing! Encore was great too!
Absolutely, by far, the MOST AMAZING live show I've seen...and I've been to a LOT of awesome concerts. Their harmonies and foot stomping enthusiasm energized the entire sold-out crowd.
I've heard all good things about this band live and they lived up to the hype. The harmony was SO good and reverberated through the concert hall. The vibe was great and I loved how they rocked out on stage & had a big dance party at one point. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN.
It was the best show ever. Incredible sound. Very passionate.
What an amazing show. I love them even more after seeing them live.
Using their words from the show...... Best. Show. Ever. The crowd loved them and they loved the crowd. Such a good energy from the band. One of the best small venue shows I've ever seen. Cannot wait to see them again.
