About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

The Fox Theatre is an incredible venue first of all. Second the Head and the Heart was simply amazing. Already they had my heart with their great albums, but live they were even better.

  • Unbelievably amazing live!

The Head and the Heart is one of the few bands that sound even better live then on their fantastic album. I've seen them 3 times now and I always enjoy their excitement and genuine awe for being able to play their music to people that listen and love it. I also have to mention their first opening act was RayLand Baxter, this was my first time listening to him and I instantly fell in love with his music. I will forever love The Head and the Heart for introducing me to him. Can't wait to see them again!

  • THATH are incredible!

They are an amazing band. Their music is beautiful, their lyrics involve their audience and bring forward memories of their loved ones. I had an amazing time with someone very dear to me. Loved their show.

The band sounded good live, but you could tell they were just going through the motions. At one point they said they were going to play one song, but didn't play that song because obviously wasn't next on the set list. Which is strange because before they went on a crew member taped a sheet of paper (probably the set list) to the floor in each band members spot. The sound tech struggled all night in between bands to get the mics set. It took nearly 50 minutes between each band (2 openers and The Head and the Heart) to get them on stage. Venue was cool but not a single place to sit down (even along the outside walls) in the entire 3,500-person venue. Not a single chair to be found. We knew it was a ballroom and we were going to have to stand for a majority of the night, but over 5 hours on your feet is rough. Overall, I wouldn't go back to the Southside Ballroom and I would try to see the Head and the Heart earlier in the tour when they gave a damn during their performance.

  • Great concert

by Jakeus on 11/19/13South Side Ballroom - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed the concert. As a casual Head and the Heart fan and as the first time to go the South Side Ballroom. It was a large venue and every location offered a good view. The venue was packed but still easy to get drinks with 5 bars. The concert was great and I really enjoyed the music.

Head and the Heart give a great show. Good onstage and fun to watch. Crowds aren't too hipstery or too drunk, they're just the right amount of drunken and well dressed.

  • Head and the Heart are amazing

  • Holy crap!

They were ridiculously good. Great set list, great energy. I'll definitely be going to see them again.

  • Incredible Performance

by Daerfellow on 11/18/13South Side Ballroom - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent performance by the Head and the Heart. They played a nice mix of the old album and the new. They knew what the audience wanted from the old album, closing the encore with Down in the Valley. The new songs, which I had been sort of ambivalent about were given new life for me when performed live. I listened to the Lets be Still album the day after the show and honestly enjoyed the new songs much more. Onstage the band is great, good energy and no sense that they are going through the motions. Love catching a band on the rise.

  • Even bigger fan now!

by Hungoverashell on 11/17/13Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan since I first heard "Down in the Valley" on Pandora, and I've enjoyed several songs on both albums. However, after seeing them live the other night, I can honestly say I loved every minute of the show and every song they sang. It was a good mix of both albums and their energy during the show is rarely matched by anyone I've seen. They are definitely worth seeing if they are anywhere near you!!!

  • Head and the Heart @BuckheadTheatre was incredible

  • Great Indie Band

    by angelic143 on 11/11/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I loved The Head and the Heart. Their music, their energy and their songs were top notch. They all contribute so much to the sound of the band. The drummer, piano and bass player had tons of energy and a clear love of their craft. I'd go to see them again in a NY minute!!

  • The Head and The Heart

by SplendidHippo on 11/9/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The only complaint to be said about the event was the venue. It was tightly packed, sweaty, and the entire time I thought the floor was going to give in. Overall the experience was fun. Both opening acts were great, and the main act was exceptional. I would definitely see them again, maybe just in a new venue.

  • More beautiful and energetic than ever!

by Sjnnyc on 11/9/13Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Head & the Heart many times beginning before their first album release, but I had not seen them in many moons. This show was so excellent and beautiful! They have not remotely lost their verve or become blasé after years of success and touring. Every song was from the heart. Their musical skills are at virtuoso level at this point. And they brought crazy energy to both old and new songs. Fantastic!

  • by Anonymous on 11/8/13Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I think this was probably the best concert I have ever been to. It was spectacular, not just in terms of lighting and sound, but the stage presence was extremely powerful and it reached out to the audience. It was beautiful.

  • Awesome!

Head and the Heart is fantastic. I've loved them since their first album came out and not only did they hold up in a live show, but they far exceeded my hopes. I look forward to seeing them again.

A great rock band that has an amazing and unique sound (includes three great singers, a piano and a violin among the usual guitars, bass and drums). They combine meaningful lyrics with great melody. They put on a show!

  • Perfect!

The Head and the Heart is a great band. They had great openers and their harmonies were wonderful. Would recommend to anyone who loves indie.
