About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • The Head and the Heart

    by zoso1977 on 6/1/14Masonic Auditorium - ClevelandRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen dozens of shows over the years. The Head and the Heart show at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland was great. The Auditorium set the stage for the night. It's grand charm reminded one of the golden age of cinema and its opulent theater's; which opened the doors for the band. Through the doors they came with abandoned. They opened the set with 3 tracks from there debut album and never looked back. They continued the show with songs from their latest release, interspersed with older songs. The show culminated with the final song, Rivers and Roads which brought the house down. The obligatory encores did not disappoint either which included a new song and closing with a fan favorite Down in the Valley.

Phenomenal performance and beautiful venue. Would do it again in a (Head and the) heartbeat.

  • Exceeded all of my expectations!!!

I have always liked the band, but seeing them live made me fall in love even more with their genuine sound, beautiful harmonies, and honest lyrics. The band brings an energy that is not always heard in their tranquil recorded songs. The music has a new life. If you have the chance, go see them!

Amazing Show. Awesome Venue. Lucius and The Head and the Heart is the best opener/headliner combo I have seen.

This concert was fantastic. They sounded incredible and played all of the favorites! The openers were great too. Would absolutely see them again in a heartbeat.

  • The opening act (Elliott BROOD) was amazing!

by GrizAndSusan on 5/30/14Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The energy and vibe were great. The venue was oddly laid out, but sound and viewing were great from near the stage. Elliott BROOD, the opener, was worth the ticket price alone. .

Both bands were so entertaining! The venue was outstanding! I loved that you didn't let too many people in there. There was the perfect amount of People. Thank you for offering a wide variety of drinks as well.

  • Head and the Heart were great!

  • by Anonymous on 5/11/14Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart put on a great show. Their stage presence was refreshing they knew exactly how to move. They played with much emotion and soul. There was not much crowd interaction as I thought there would be them playing in such a small venue but It still a great show.

  • SOOOOO GOOD

by jshao1996 on 5/11/14Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

They took their sweet time to show up, but when they did it was amazing. They sound great on their albums and sound even better live. Any doubt you could have possibly had in your mind of the show being bad, if you were stupid enough to have any, was GONE the instant Rivers and Roads came on.

  • Awesome concert

  • The Head and the Heart delivered!

by Anonymous on 4/7/14Englert Civic Theatre - Iowa CityRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart did not disappoint. They played all the songs one would want to hear from both albums. The sound quality was very good. They engaged with the audience. If you are a fan of their music you will not want to miss their concert.

  • Awesome!!

We had seen them at 2012 Hardly Strikly Bluegrass and they were great - but this show kicked ass. They created an intimate atmosphere that made the show very special.

  • Even better live!

by SomethingKristen on 12/30/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I liked The Head and the Heart going in to this concert, but after seeing them live, I am in love with this band! Their stage presence is enchanting, and their songs come to life even more in person. I strongly recommend seeing them live if you have the chance.

  • The Head and the Heart: AWESOME. Sound: FAIL.

by gbeddow on 12/11/13Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 2 out of 5

The performance by The Head and The Heart was absolutely fabulous. These guys can really entertain a crowd. The sound production on the other hand was miserable, and it's for that reason I gave this a "2" instead of the "5" it otherwise deserves. Numerous pops, cracks and squeals. Also, I love my music loud, and I love to hear bass. But we were seated in the balcony and there was so much bass it drowned out the vocals all night. Sure, there was sound when people sang, but it was impossible to make out any lyrics. And the volume in general was completely over the top. Totally amateur sound production.

  • Beautiful and Haunting

    by Wren14 on 12/10/13The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

They sound exactly the same in concert as on the album except you get a humanity that the album can't capture. Difficult melodies are done effortlessly. They make you feel as comfortable as a worn tee, but the music is complicated enough to feel timeless and transport you. Beautiful show. So happy we went.
