The Head and the Heart in Concert
With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.
The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

I honestly had a blast! Great location Good music Delicious food. Great security as well! Overall LOVED it had a good time.
The Kongos and The Head and the Heart were awesome!!! Can't wait for the next block party!
The music was great and the venue was cool. It was a beautiful day. only downside was there were people smoking (cigarettes and POT) in the crowd making it hard for me to breathe at times. And people crowd surfing and hitting people in the heads.
My friend and I went to this concert on Saturday - had a great time - not nearly as crowded as we thought it would be. However, the sun was BLAZING and shady spots were few and far between! We ended up sitting under the shade from the beer stand right up near the front by the stage. Seemed like it was a while after we got there that a band came on? Head & Heart was my favorite. Would recommend this free event and would go again - just remember to bring a hat!
Hands down a wonderful day with the family! The bands, atmosphere, and giveaways were great!
I had never been to a 104.5 Block Party Concert or to Festival Pier prior to this event. The concert definitely delivered music wise--the bands were great and seeing four performers for free, right in Philly was AWESOME! The venue was really cool and I would LOVE to go back for another concert, bring a lawn chair, and sit in the sand. I will never go back to this event because of the amount of young teenagers high on various drugs, drinking from the venue concessions, and literally puking or falling over. There was little to no police presence. It was disgusting. As a 26 year old female, I have no wish to be around drunk and belligerent children...
Great place, Great music... 104.5 put it on and did great. Went to their old venue once and this was far superior to that.
Thought the show was great. Perfect venue to have it at. Amazing atmosphere everyone was having a great time. Performers were great. Very good flow of music each band complimented each other. DJ in between set was awesome knew how to keep the crowd going. All and all great show can't wait for the next one.
Festival pier's renovations are really cool and made for a relaxed, comfortable, and fun concert viewing environment. I enjoyed the free ice cream and pictures and other activities as well. All great chill bands too. In total, a great Saturday! Can't wait for the next one in July!
Greta venue, easy acess, great price!!!!!!!! Was worth paying for.
We were some of the only 50 somethings in the crowd. We went to see the Kongos, and we weren't disappointed. The Head and the Heart were new to us but we'll be following them as well. The only way for us to see these great acts is in small venues since we can't handle these multi-day festivals.
The free concert was crowded as expected but fun and had enough space. The sand made it feel beachy. The lineup was good. My only complaint was that there weren't enough bathrooms.
The entire line up were excellent, great stage shows!
I had a great time. I will be going to another show asap. Great bands and a great event.
Amazing. Can't wait till next block party. I'll be so disappointed if they run out of tix.
My girl and I were a little late and missed the first two opening acts (I did want to see Bear Hands) but we both really wanted to see Kongos, we did, and they were great. The Head and the Heart were all right from what we heard. Personally I'm not a huge fan of them. I just wish there was a TV that had the Belmont on somewhere. Last month's show was at an apartment complex's courtyard and we were able to watch the Kentucky Derby on a TV in the bar while Phantogram played! Overall though, this concert was a good time!
Love the new look of the place. Lots of open space.
Bands were entertaining. Crowd control was good - good variety of good and drink. the Head and the Heart were amazing as always.
It was hot and crowded- Love the Piazza-not the Pier
I had so much fun! I loved the overall vibe and the bands were fantastic. Definitely continue to have these concerts. Such a fun experience.
