About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Amazing show!

by Derek Chamberlin on 8/4/25Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront - RichmondRating: 5 out of 5

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time despite all of the river. Such a great performance always from The Head & The Heart.

  • Fantastic!

by Crabby on 8/3/25Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Music wonderful as expected. Met Jon after the show. He hung out having conversation with all those that stayed. He was genuinely engaging and invested. Wonderful experience for me and my family. Love this band!

  • Great band but the venue sound was bad.

by Rob on 8/3/25Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The sound was too low and wasn’t mixed well. You could hear people in the crowd talking really well because the overall sound levels coming from the speaker arrays was so Low

  • Front Row in the Rain

by Centerstage Tonight Bob on 8/2/25Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Heavy rain during the opening act didn’t dampen spirits for an electric live show by the revitalized band. The new songs were a high point and Matt was flying around the stage all night was highlighted by him jumping into the soggy crowd to lead us dancing to “Missed Connection”. The CENTERSTAGE TONIGHT experience was capped by Jon personally greeting us unexpectedly after the show. Check out videos on YouTube.

  • Awesome band, bad venue

by LBC on 7/23/25The Andrew J Brady Music Center - CincinnatiRating: 3 out of 5

The band is awesome and they put on a great show. I dont like the venue and wont be back to see any shows here. The balcony seats are very odd and all you hear is bass if you aren't on the ground floor. I have been to multiple shows here and can't go back

  • Excellent show - Excellent venue

    by Mike E on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen The Head and The Heart many times before and every show always seems to get better and better! Their energy is always off the charts and it's so great to see how interactive they are with their fans! Will always love THATH and will be counting down the days to see them again!

  • Great time!

What a great show! Sounded good at my favorite venue!

  • The Head and The Heart - Louisville Iroquois Amphitheater

    by D2 on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and The Heart were absolutely amazing!! And Wild Rivers and Marfa were incredible opening acts!

  • Rivers and Roads-AMAZING Evening

    by P.E. on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart never disappoint. They put on and energetic show with incredible sound and energy. The Iroquois Amphitheater was a great venue that felt small and intimate, and as if you are out in the woods at a summer camp. I have seen them three times and they always end with the song Rivers and Roads, which is a spiritual experience to hear live in person. So much of what I love about The Head and the Heart is how their music invokes nostalgia and taps into your emotions and feels.

  • One of The Best Live Performers Out There Today!

by Bob on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We have now seen Head in the Hart three times in three different venues, and they always bring their A game! This one started off a little different because they were promoting their new album and I had not had a chance to hear it yet, but we were with people that had never even heard of them and they were very impressed even though they didn’t know the music. Their vocals and harmonizing are always top-notch, and they are masters of the crescendo in almost every one of their songs, giving the audience everything they want and more. The other nice thing about Head and the Heart concerts is that the audience is an eclectic mix of generally very nice people. Even though we’ve seen them in Louisville/Cincinnati/Atlanta, it is always a very well-behaved and fun crowd! We will definitely continue seeing them when they are in shooting distance, and I would highly recommend checking them out, even if you don’t know their music!

  • Never Disappoints

by Shannon on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart never disappoint. Hearing their music live is an amazing experience. Their harmonies gave me chills. I’ve seen them 6 times and will continue to attend their shows in the future. A very satisfying experience.

  • Awesome concert

by Kicker on 7/22/25Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and The Heart put on a great show and we really enjoyed Wild River also. The only thing that needs improvement is the venue itself.. more bathrooms, more than 1 food choice needed, and more than 1 craft beer in the whole venue needed as well

  • Great & bad

    by Speake2me on 7/19/25Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

Overall I loved the show because I love the band, seen them many times. That said, I think the sound guys were asleep or something. Some parts were so loud it blew over the singing and it was difficult to make out the individual instruments. Lots of people were mentioning this.

  • The Head and the Heart

by BM on 6/27/25Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

3rd time. Best one yet. Played around 25 songs. Great energy and sound.

  • Excellent experience

by John Lewis on 6/22/25House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the sound of all 3 bands were excellent, but it could’ve been a little louder for the first 2 performances. The head and the heart were a lot louder.

  • Amazing night!

by SGM on 6/22/25Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

I adore this band. Such a wonderful night at the Uptown. Loved seeing them again in such a great venue. They played all of my favorites. I can’t wait to see them again. 🫶🏻

  • Triple Magic!

by Momkim on 6/21/25Uptown Theater - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

1st act Anna Graves, tiny package with a beautiful voice! Very engaging, so glad we were there early for her performance! 2nd act Futurebirds! Holy moly! I had never heard them before! Three amazing lead singers, such great energy! I ran right out and bought their t-shirt! They just acquired a new fan! 3rd act Heart and the Hand! Stellar vocals, great ending to a night of magnificent music!

  • The Head and the Heart

by Dan on 6/18/25House of Blues Houston - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the concert was great. Great sound and they played all our favorites. Definitely a must see.

  • Exceeds all expectations

    by JD’sMusic on 6/17/25South Side Ballroom - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Aperture gives us the best music from The Head and the Heart in years, defining tracks, several perfect THATH songs. The chance to hear the new music live is a must (although Finally Free and Pool Break were not in the Dallas set). The Dallas show opened with Anna Graves displaying her songwriting talents to a receptive early crowd and Futurebirds who crushed their set, getting the packed crowd amped for the headliners. And no disappointment, the set song collection, the arrangements, the connection this more deserving band delivered out did my already high expectations. Simple - a must see show.
