About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Incredible evening

    by Sarah_beth on 10/11/19The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I had been trying to see The Head and the Heart for 7 years, and was finally able to at The Met in Philly this week. The show was well worth the wait. I appreciate any band who doesn’t rely on projection screens during live shows; The Head and The Heart’s music captivates thousands of people without it. The lighting was breathtaking, I cried along to my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands, and I still can’t believe how perfect everything felt. Everyone working at The Met was very helpful and friendly as well.

    by A. on 10/11/19The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Band was very good. Sounded great, cool light show, venue was amazing. Opening band (Illiterate Light) was incredible. Never seen 2 people produce so much energy.

  • Great performance, exceeded my expectation

Got offered free pit passes at the venue. Enjoyed the show

  • Great band at a great venue

by sb on 10/7/19Kings Theatre - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

This event was so much fun! The acoustics were fantastic and it looked like everywhere had a great view of the stage. The Head and the Heart were amazing to see live!

  • Should have been better

by Ben on 10/7/19Kings Theatre - BrooklynRating: 3 out of 5

This group has much talent. However poor sound mixing at the concert made them sound terrible much of the concert. Only thing worse than a bad bass player is an over-amped bad bass player. I had the best seats in the house row R center and the sound was muddy whenever the bass played. I would love to hear them "unplugged".

  • Great music, beautiful venue but beware where you sit

    by K. G. on 10/6/19The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The Head and the Heart gave a great performance, even with the mix being a bit off. The venue, the Anthem, is beautiful. But, beware where you choose to sit. We were in a third level box, front row. When we selected the seats, it looked like an amazing location. When we arrived we found that the railing was so low, in front of our seats that we, and our neighboring seat mates, found it quite unnerving to stand up during the performance to dance. The low rail provided for a great, unobstructed view but really does seem like a safety risk. Also, there was no where to sit a drink. When a couple drinks were spilled in our row, inevitable at a concert, we later were told that the liquid was dripping on the guests in the box below us. The Head and the Heart is an amazing band and you want to dance! Unfortunate that we could only dance in our seats.

  • Top of their game

by Drewman on 10/4/19Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart have found their perfect groove. Great band, great vocals, great venue. Perfect night weather wise and a superb setlist.

  • It was alright

    by A. F. on 10/4/19Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

seating for the event was good and sound/venue are nice. We just thought the overall music was not as good as we were expecting. We will go back to Red Hat in the future but The Head and the Heart were not very energetic

  • Incredible Show

by Patrick on 9/30/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Moondoggies were a great opener, and the Head and the Heart was stellar as always

  • The Head and the Heart - perfect harmony!

by Gina G on 9/30/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Great night of music from this band as well as the opener, which I was not familiar with, The Moondoggies. I love the beauty and history of The Tabernacle but next time I go to see a show there I will get seats instead of GA mainly because the sound can be spotty if you are underneath the floor above. I've noticed this several times at The Tabernacle so I don't believe it has to do with the band(s).

  • GO SEE THEM!

by M. on 9/30/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great event. The venue was great. I did the VIP parking which was amazing. Park inside and take an elevator straight into event. This is one of the best live shows out there today! I had amazing seats in the balcony and could see the entire stage. Sound and lighting were amazing as well.

  • Great venue fun times

  • At least a got a CD with my ticket

by Nola girl on 9/27/19Fillmore New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 2 out of 5

Don’t say 7pm show if the opening act isn’t hitting the stage until 8pm on a Tuesday. People work! Only positive was the venue. It was impeccable.

  • Saw them at Summerfest too - and would go see them again now

by Cage on 9/22/19The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and The Heart is an extraordinary band - their music is amazing, their stage presence is fantastic, and the crowd was rocking!
