About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Good Vibes in a Great Spot

by Ste F on 10/17/19UPMC Events Center - Moon TownshipRating: 5 out of 5

Illiterate Light opened the show with an interesting set; their duality was played up by the genres of music that the weaved in and out of. The Head and The Heart did not disappoint, playing a generous listing of their music, saving "Rivers and Roads" for the encore. The UPMC Events Center was an inviting and comfortable venue; the only downside was the close proximity of seats on the floor level.

  • Great song set, mediocre acoustics at best

by Ricbar on 10/17/19UPMC Events Center - Moon TownshipRating: 3 out of 5

Acoustics were no good at venue. Nice size venue but not good for concert.

  • Terrible sound

by Feel ripped off! on 10/17/19UPMC Events Center - Moon TownshipRating: 2 out of 5

They played all the hits and really had the energy and talent to make it an awesome show. The venue sucked. I will not be back there to see a band again.

  • Relaxing night of live music

by Grace on 10/15/19Red Hat Amphitheater - RaleighRating: 3 out of 5

I went to the Head and the Heart with my best friend. It was her first time seeing them her favorite band. I was looking forward to hearing some new music, but was also looking forward to seeing the opener, Hippo Campus, one of my favorites! Alas, they did not perform. Truthfully, I was disappointed. The actual opening act was Moondoggies, who I enjoyed, but it wasn't quite the vibe I was expecting. The whole concert was very chill and relaxing, not my norm because I want to dance, but I still enjoyed both acts very much! Head and the Heart has great music and performed very well.

  • Brilliant Band but not so much the venue

by Lis on 10/15/19Agganis Arena - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I love Head and the Heart concerts and always get excited to see them live. However, the arena was probably one of the worst venues I’ve been to. Logistics and service was great but the sound in this place is kinda terrible. I didn’t know before I went but afterwards I heard from a lot of other folks that they thought the same. Unfortunately that had an impact on the show but nevertheless I loved it because of the band.

The performance was filled with energy, talent and genuine appreciation for the fans in attendance. Our group of four had a memorable time.

  • Venue seating/experience a bit off

    by E. G. on 10/15/19Agganis Arena - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The Head and the Heart is/was great. The seating chart/actual seating experience was a bit unexpected. It didn't appear when purchasing the tickets that the first row would be at the same level as the floor. It might be helpful to update some kind of language to help explain that.

  • SO GOOD!!!!

    by K. N. on 10/15/19Agganis Arena - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The opening band was good, not really my style, but that's okay! The Head and the Heart, however, were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing Show!

    by basie9 on 10/15/19Agganis Arena - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was an all around amazing show. The band was superb, the venue was comfortable. The seats weren't ridiculously small, the beers weren't ridiculously overpriced, and the sound levels weren't deafening, like other venues (*cough* TD Garden). We throughly enjoyed our concert experience!

  • Great show at the Toyota Oakdale Theater

by JV on 10/14/19Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart put on a fantastic show. They played everything that we wanted to hear and more. They sounded better live than they do on the radio. If you have the opportunity don't pass up seeing them live.

  • great music, great venue

by Karren M on 10/14/19Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great, everything from opening act to the display on stage for the show. I always forget how great the sound is at the Oakdale. Anywhere you sit is great for acoustics and visibility.

Head and the Heart make great sounding music. Hearing them at a smaller venue at The Palace made the experience that much better.

    by M. on 10/11/19The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The venue acoustics and view from the seats were fantastic! Beautiful theater! The Head and the Heart gave An excellent performance! Besides the “noise” from the opening act, this was one of the concerts I’ve seen in awhile.

  • Awe inspiring

by Lei on 10/11/19The Met Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Im the type of person that wants the best seat possible so i tend to always buy tickets right behind the mixing booth to get the best quality sound and visual experience and couldnt have asked for a better show, they are such amazing performers all have a genuine love for what they do and their fans and it was so nice to see performers with that mindset rather than a concern with money. Do yourself a favor and see them!
