About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

  • Wonderful show. Very cold

by Classic Motown meets 2024 on 10/2/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

You can see the song list on setlist.fm. Great show - added a few extras of Sign of life album songs. Had tickets for cancellation of their last tour over Covid. Will see again… will be 4th time

Great Show at a great venue. Event was well organized from beginning to end and the event staff were attentive and friendly.

  • Amazing even in a downpour

by rukhimonster on 9/30/22RBC Echo Beach - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Watching The Head and the Heart perform live is an experience that's definitely worth it. I simply can't get them out of my head and my heart. I loved them before I heard them live, but now I feel something beyond love. Looking forward to the next show!

  • Review of venue

by Ted on 9/26/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Took my son to this show. Music was good, but not bands I typically would go see. My 5 star review is of the venue, which is fairly new, and of the seats I bought which were in the mobility accessible area. The staff took excellent care of us, and I will return to this venue based on that treatment alone. This area is to one side, raised so that we could see even if people were standing in front of the stage, (and of course they were). I was very happy with the seating arrangement, and this made the show more enjoyable. Wish I had the names of the security person who worked the area in front of us, and the folks who seated us and controlled access to rest rooms and the concession area. Super nice people, made our visit that much more enjoyable.

  • Lawn Improvements

by Pmart on 9/25/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Lawn tickets. The cocktail/drink booths on either side of the front of the lawn are extremely bright and distracting after dark. From the lawn, these bright lights drown out the view of the stage. Have seen several shows at this venue, including the opening weekend (Widespread Panic 2021), which did not have the booths, but they’ve been there in some form at every show since. There have been a lot of improvements since last year, but this continues to be a glaring issue. Great venue, great shows… but this really interferes with the lawn experience.

  • Great show, terrible venue

by LBBB on 9/24/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 1 out of 5

The Head and the Heart did not disappoint. They were amazing. Bass was ridiculously high and couldn’t hear the much of the signer, but still great. The venue, however, is just awful. While the bathrooms are amazingly and beautifully clean and the attendant is the sweetest, it doesn’t make up for the fact that there is one. There are no monitors/screens, so if you’re on the lawn you can forget about seeing anything. The seats are not any sort of graded, all equal level, so unless you are up front and the show opts to not to have a pit, forget seeing much from the seats either (which are not cheap). Speaking of seats, no numbers. You have to count, which leads to mass confusion, especially when alcohol is involved. We chose to eat at the concert, a mistake. While there was an amazing variety to choose from, the fun part is, once you order, there is NO WHERE to sit and eat your goodies-unless you go to your seats which are crammed so tightly together that you are shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor which is all fine except when you’re eating a taco and said neighbor gets your elbow in their face because you’re eating off your lap! While most of this can be forgiven, I will not be returning until there are some screens. It’s just not worth the $200+ to not be able to see anything even from a decent seat.

  • Awesome show!!!

by G-Bad on 9/24/22Live Oak Bank Pavilion - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Fiancé and I loved it! Would go see them again and again!

  • A Near Religious Experience!

by Michael C. on 9/24/22Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I had seen Head & The Heart at a KROQ event about 3 years ago and was very impressed. To be able to come back and see them as a headliner was a near religious experience. I went into the night expecting to be mostly sitting in my seat enjoying some chill music but found myself on my feet moving and dancing for much of their set. Counting Crows are my favorite band and became that after the first time I saw them live back in 1999. I had a very similar reaction to seeing Head and the Heart headline this show at the Greek. I am now a full time fan of this band and will seek out any future live shows they do in my area. So excited to see them again!

  • Awesome Show

by D on 9/23/22Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Band was lively and entertaining. Played everything I wanted to hear.

  • Amazing Show

by Rockmom on 9/23/22Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and The Heart put on an amazing show. Shaky Graves was great also. Had great seat and the night was perfect

  • Loud/Distorted

by KO on 9/23/22Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 3 out of 5

Shakey Graves sounded WAY better. THATH were extremely loud, distorted, and every song sounded similar to the others. I blame whoever was running the sound board, as every concert I’ve seen at this venue sounds crystal clear and perfect, except these guys. My ears felt like they were bleeding, and I couldn’t make out the guitars from the keys. And we were in the front/middle of the lawn the entire show (and almost every show I’ve seen here).

  • The Head and The Heart!

by Stef on 9/23/22Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second time seeing The Head and The Heart this tour and they were just so damn good. They sound amazing live and I can't wait to see them again.

  • Great band; muffled sound!?

by VB on 8/27/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

I’m not sure what happened but it felt like the sound was often muffled. Sometimes, the mics were clear, but often they were not and it was disappointing considering the talent on stage!

  • Too blue

by adhoc on 8/26/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

Dawes gave a good, albeit pro-forma performance. It must be tough at 7pm with seats only filled to 25% when they're used to filling larger venues. At least they were in tune! The Head and the Heart? Owwww. Too much weird lighting and smoke but even that was preferable to the often off-key performances and missed harmonies. The acoustics at Humphreys really need help. As do the women's restrooms. I think the venue has jumped the shark.

  • Amazing! We love Humphreys!

by Sam Dream Weaver on 8/26/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The sound is always incredible, easy access to food and drinks everyone is always in the best of moods.

  • So fun!

by Em on 8/26/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the show and the venue. Dawes was great. The head and the heart had such great energy. I came away with new favorite songs. Super fun night with great seats and perfect weather!

  • Great band, great venue

by Big Old Mike on 8/25/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

We had our first experience at Humphreys Concerts By the Bay. I can see that parking on Shelter Island could be an issue, but we stayed overnight at Humphreys Half Moon Inn, so we had parking and an easy walk to the venue. We have seen The Head and The Heart before, but the experience in such a small venue was great. The sound was good but not deafening, The venue does not use monitors because everyone can see the stage very well. One extra is that they provide cocktail service to your seat. Of course there could be more restrooms for intermission, but nothing is perfect. We had a great time, and will look for opportunities to visit Humphreys Concerts By the Bay again.

  • AWESOME concert at an AWESOME venue!

by Tracy on 8/25/22Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The Head and the Heart were great...played every song I wanted to hear - I may have cried during Lost In My Mind. Also, the song they sang and dedicated to Charity's newly married sister was lovely. You can't beat the intimacy and vibe at Humphrey's....it was a lovely night!

  • Great ahow

by Chris on 8/23/22Greek Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

THATH have really matured as performers. They were great 5 years ago but today they have such great stage command. The chemistry is excellent and they played so well.

  • I'm still singing the songs

    by The_fierce_siren on 8/23/22Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - BerkeleyRating: 5 out of 5

If the hallmark of seeing a truely good concert is that the band's songs are still in your head days later, then this hit the mark. The sound was great, the crowd was into it. 5 stars for The Head and the Heart♡
