The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.
The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.
The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.
With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

One word "Awesome"!! I really enjoyed it and would consider seeing them again.
Although only one original member was present, the musicians were terrific and there was some fantastic guitar solos. Of course we got the great songs from the past - American Woman, She's come undone, No Time left for you etc, but I believe any rock fan of any age would have loved the performance. They treated the crowd to three additional songs as the crowd screamed for more.
We were totally disappointed by this show. We saw The Guess Who in Cape Cod with Burton Cummings and it was amazing. This was a misguided cover band. The lead singer, while talented, was unable to rouse the Nam-era patrons who were smothered by a rather large elephant in the room- the striking difference between this front man and the other band members. We left eager to play our CD in the car and restore our treasured songs in our minds.
Great night @ Twin River with the Guess Who- 2 original members (drummer Garry Peterson was not available for this gig), but great renditions of their 60's-70's hits. A must see for those who enjoy re-living the era of awesome music. Nice segue into American Woman from the drum solo, some terrific guitar work, vocals were spot on. Venue complaint: Parking lots are not marked, so when you come out in 12-degree weather with only an idea of where the car is parked... ouch! It took us a while in the freezing cold to figure out where we were parked. Plus there is no signage to get you out, no Exit signs with arrows, no directions to get you to 295... Get with it twin rivers
With two original band members the Guess Who played all the songs we wanted to hear!! The new guitar players were great they really jammed!! The singer was spot on!! Awesome jam with dueling giutars led into a super version of American Women!! Penns Peak is always a great place to see a band.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, we would rate both the show and the venue 100!!!
The guess who played the old and some NEW, who would have thought. They were great, fabulous, seen them before and can't wait till the next time. Young and old alike were up on thier feet rockin' like the old days!
Drove down from Lockport NY. We seen the group perform at Artpark in Lewiston on the Niagara river back in July and wanted to see them again....There were four of us and we started with dinner upstairs, excellent service and food. I would recommend to anyone going to the show to start by eating upstairs. The show was outstanding the crowd was fun. The whole band signed autographs and my wife now has fully signed shirt and picture....Outstanding night....
Great show, very good seats, easy to get to. Music was Exceptional.
They were great with Carl Dixon (so glad you're doing okay and good luck with your solo career), but Derek Sharp is the StarBaby!
I thought the show was fantastic and the lead singer is as good if not better than the original.
The band was great and played all their old hits and a couple of new songs that they just recorded. We stood right in front of the stage in the pit area and caught 2 signed pics from one from Dexter and one from Laurie and also caught Dexter's sweat towel, which all the band members autographed for us after the concert. Penn's Peak is a great venue for seeing concerts. I prefer it to Wacchovia or any other venue in the Phila area. It is small and therefore provides a more personal concert experience. The band met with fans and signed autographs after the show. They were really friendly and gave a wonderful performance. I would definitely recommend seeing The Guess Who in concert.
This was one of the best concerts I have seen. I hope that they will be back next year because I will DEFINITELY GO TO SEE THEM AGAIN! I felt like a teenager again. PLEASE DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THIS GROUP IF THEY'RE IN YOUR AREA. FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show was great .Penns Peak is a great place to see a show. The Guess Who include the adience.I would definetly go see them again.
given the fact that there is only two of the original band members i wasn't expecting that much. the lead vocalist was really good and over all i think the replacements did an excellent job. ONE OF THE BETTER CONCERTS IV'E ATTENDED
Had a great show. Will see them again. The seats were perfect
How you can present that band as the Guess Who without Burton Cumming in the band is beyond me. Just having the original drummer and base player does not make it the Guess Who. It was one thing to not have Randy Bachman there but to have him and Burton Cummings not there is a farce.
This band should have been called a tribute band because there are only 2 original members. If you closed your eyes, it wasn't bad, but the lead singer with his long blonde hair and chest exposed just ruined the mood. We didn't feel it was a good show and we go to a lot of concerts. We would not recomment going to see them. It's too much money for the show you get.
The Guess Who brought almost 50 years of rock to Penn's Peak on Friday, September 11, 2009. There have been numerous changes since I saw them at the University of Scranton in the mid 70's. Most noteably, my waistline aside, the absence of Burton Cummings. Derek Sharp fills in adequately on lead vocals. His stage presence, however, seems out of sync with a band as "vintage" as The Guess Who. That said, I was impressed with his musicianship. I was also pleasantly suprised by a few stellar guitar jams with the band's newest member, Laurie MacKenzie. Leonard Shaw, a band member since 1991, capably fills a variety of rolls on keys, flute, horn, and vocals. Rounding out the lineup are original members Jim Kale (Bass) and Gary Peterson (Drums) who bring credibility to this version of The Guess Who. The band clearly knows what it's audience came to hear and delivers with enthusiasm. Guess Who staples such as These Eyes, Laughing, No Sugar , Clap For the Wolfman, American Woman, and a host of other hits rocked the venue. Probably the biggest disapointment of the night was our seats. Elevated slightly and to the side of the hall I found myself seated with a support beam directly between myself and center stage. In my opinion Penn's Peak owes it to it's patrons to include a warning of an "obstructed view" along with these seats. I was forced to stand in order to get a clear view of the action. Overall I thought it was a fun night of classic rock from these Canadian rockers. With concert ticket prices skyrocketing in recent years, this proved to be good "bang for your buck."
the guess who really thought about the order of the songs they played. they kept everyones attention and were as talented as ever. the new lead singer has a good voice, but at times he looked bored, which was a real bummer. penn's peak is awesome, i'm so glad it's 2 minutes from my house!
