About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

  • unbelievable

The Guess Who were fantastic. I saw them 4 years ago when Carl Dixon was the lead singer, and they were great. They now have Derek Sharp as their lead singer. They couldn't have picked a better person. He blended in with the group very well. This band gets better with age. I highly recommend going to see this band.

  • Had a good time!

Show started off slow but turned into a phenomenal show! Lead singer a little strange but if you like the Guess Who you will enjoy the show.

  • Guess Who was at Twin River

and put on a heck of a show! I realize that the line up isn't the original band. The only remaining original members are Jim (bass player) and Gary (drummer), and Gary is out of action recovering from rotator cuff surgery. But the guys they bring in do justice to the original sound. It was a good crowd, the band seemed to be enjoying themselves, they played all the hits most people would have been hoping for (and some songs I didn't realize were Guess Who songs), and the sound was great. The band even came out after the show to sign autographs and pose for pictures. So, nothing ground breaking, but for anyone who was weaned on rock and roll from the late sixties and early 70's, it was a great time.

  • They were excellent!

All but 1 song was immediately recognized. Not all the original band members, but sounded just like the old albums! (albums!--lol) Truelly talented group, would love to see again...and again.....

The concert was great, the crowd seemed to rock right with the band. I never realized just how many songs they made popular. Just a great concert.

  • The Guess Who rocks on!

by Rockon1 on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

My girlfriend and I attended this event. The best thing was that the band encouraged the audience to get up and dance! This was not the case a couple of years ago at this venue; some audience got p...d off when you got up out of your chair. Of course, seeing the Guess Who outside at the Hatchshell was awesome!

  • Don't bother!!

by bcjd on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

This concert sucked! Burton Cummings wasn't even there! and the rest of the band that was there was more caught up in guitar solos and hard rock than doing the "good ole songs". My buddy and I were so disgusted that we left after only about 45 minutes. Never again.

The band itself was awsome, they played most of the hits, had high energy. The venue leaves a little to be desired, seating is all at one level so sight lines were not great. Also the seating chart did not represent the seat location so the great seat I thought I had was not.

The band had a great selection of songs but the music was too soft and the audience lost energy.

Great concert, they really played all the favorites. The lead singer was amazing. The really appreciated the fans and played to them all night. Great to have them back in New England.

  • Guess Who unchanged

by wizcrypt on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

I bought the tickets then i realized no Randy Bachman or Burton Cummings, tried to sell the tickets, thinking there is no way they would sound the same. Well i was wrong. Derek Sharp not only kept the original sound but added a charismatic personality to the band. They played for close to two hours with a short break for a drum solo. I was only disappointed that they didn't take a couple minutes to introduce the new band members with a short bio,but that's what the internet is for .It was all forgotten after they started the music. The Guess Who lives!

  • Terrific!

  • by ourpebbles on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are awesome. I always rate a concert to how close it sounds to the radio and even after all these years they haven't missed a beat. The coolest part? Seeing all the 40,50 and even 60 somethings dancing and rocking out to their favorite tunes.

  • Guess Who cranked out

by coyotigirl on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Thought they put on a good show and were present for the audience. Covered all the gems and less notable ones including Albert Flasher which is one of my favorites. Had some reservations before hand that soon gave way from the first song. Seemed like the vocals were drowned out a bit in the beginning, but were better than expected.
