About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

I didn't expect this concert to be as entertaining as it was...the band really appreciated playing for the attendees...highly recommended!

  • Guess Who was great!

I really enjoyed the show and going back to my childhood. Not to thrilled with the Twin River Center however. I think they try to fit as many bodies in there as they possible can. Also having all the seating on one level is not good either. I would go see them again as long as they were playing somewhere else.

The last time my husband and I saw The Guess Who Band was in 1986 at Rocky Point in Warwick, RI. We absolutely loved them. Now, 24 years later, I can honestly say they are still great!!! Even though some of the originals are no longer with the band, they still put on a great show.

This show was incredible. They were spot on and played all their hits. I have been telling everyone that if they get a chance to go see The Guess Who, they should!

  • The Guess Who was OK

by Murphmama on 2/1/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

It was a good concert. Not great. Too much talking. Didn't need the politicians up there either! Went there to hear songs. What they did play was very good. Miss the original lead singer.

  • The Guess Who was absolutely amazing!

This concert was unbelievable. I was somewhat skeptical that everyone would be in good voice, but they blew me away. And not just with their voices--the music was phenomenal...Awesome musicians!

  • The Guess Who

Great showmanship. The interaction with the crowd was very nice. The passing of time seemed to have stopped for a few hours at Twin Rivers on 1-29. The vocals were clear and crisp; the guitar work was fantastic!! It was so good that if I were 30 years younger I would quit my job and either become a roadie or simply just follow the tour. DO NOT MISS this tour.

  • The Guess Who Rocked

by bonnie6662 on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

The band was phenominal, the lead singer was hot and sang like a dream. The 2 original band members could out play the best. What a great night we had and I believe everyone there would have said the same.

  • Not the original members but sounded good

by Anonymous on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

If you like the tunes then you will like the concert. No frills in this one. It felt more like I was at a school dance. NOT the original signer. Does'nt look like the guy in the photo ad either. But he sounded a little like the original. The songs stayed true to the sound tracks so everyone could sing along.

  • Guess Who was Very Good

by greentbird on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

It was the first time I saw this group. Even though only 1 band member was original; the others did very well. The singer was a screamer but his voice was really good. He did alot of interaction with the audience which made it alot of fun.

  • Not Burton Cummings/Randy Bachman, but they rocked

    by Michael2131 on 1/31/10Twin River Casino - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

I saw them almost 40 years ago and loved the song then. Needless to say, it's not the same band now but I really enjoyed them this time around as well. The original drummer (one of 2 original members) was out with surgery. His last minute fill-in from Las Vegas did a good job. This was their 1st concert of 2010 and the first time they had been in the Providence area in quite a while. It seems to always take a while to get the crowd started at Twin River, but playing "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" early was the spark for me. Other favorites - especially American Woman carried it through throughout crowd. It didn't look like a sellout - too bad. Those who didn't come missed some pretty good music. If you like the songs - go see them. It's not Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman, but you won't be disappointed.

  • was like watching a tribute band

by phoney on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

The band was very good musically. But did not fit the part of the guess who. They were entertaining but for the money not worth it. A tribute band at a local club would have been just as good. The sound at twin river is not the greatest another venue might have been better.

  • great show !!

by jojo2525 on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Show was great - venue was big, but not too big. Security was a bit power-hungry, but all in all, an enjoyable night at a reasonable price. Wish they had sung longer and with more of their standard hits, but I digress.

  • Guess Who was fabulously nostalgic

by CVme on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

The band was so much fun. The audience was enthralled the entire time. Twin River is a terible venue,

  • Incredible talent,great show!!

by Anonymous on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

First, I highly recommend the Twin River event center as a concert venue, it is small enough to be intimate but the sound it awesome. Secondly, The Guess Who still has IT!!The selection of songs was fantastic, just what we wanted to hear, all their classics and perfomed impeccably. Lead singer Derek Sharp's voice was incredible, could have listened to him all night. The guitar/bass/keyboard/drums performed beyond expectations, really took me back to younger days...don't stop playing, don't let this sound pass away!!! Loved, loved, loved this concert!

  • Good Show, But...........

by GoesToEleven on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

The band played all the favorite hits and had the crowd singing along. Original drummer Gary Petersen was unable to play due to surgery, so the only original member was Jim Kale on bass. He played and sounded great; I always preferred his bass parts to those of his replacement Bill Wallace. The musicianship level of the band is solid, and they play all the songs in their original keys (I'm a musician so I take note of these things). The singer hit all the notes without straining; he's very capable but vocally he has more in common with Brett Michaels than Burt Cummings. The keyboards were excellent. Though the guitars were played well, they had more of a heavy metal sound to them. Between the vocals and guitars the band's presentation sounds like '80's "hair metal", whereas the Guess Who were blues-, folk-, jazz-, old-school rock- oriented in their day. They were never a metal band, so this show left a bit to be desired in terms of musical atmosphere. I saw the "Running Back Thru Canada" tour eight years ago with Bachman/Cummings/Petersen/Wallace/McDougall and that blew me away. I was expecting a bit more of the old Guess Who sound/atmosphere and I felt a bit underwhelmed in that sense.

  • The Guess Who?

by pizzzzzz on 1/31/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 1 out of 5

Total disappointment. The band was lousy and even was the venue. Don't fall for this.

  • Guess Who wasn't

by GuestT on 1/30/10Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 2 out of 5

The Guess Who concert at twin rivers wasn't a concert by the Guess Who - only 2 of the group were there, no idea where the lead singer of last night's concert came from, but, don't think he was born when Guess Who were in the peak popularity! Twin Rivers Event forum was awful, seats were crammed in together, not stadium seating so you couldn't see whenever anyone in front of you walked by - it was the worst place i've ever been to for a concert (and that's over 30 yrs of concerts)!
