About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

  • The Guess Who Rock AC

For the most part I enjoyed the show which brought back many fond memories of the late 1960's. I was a little disappointed that only two of the original members were there. One thing would have made the show better. There was no need for the long instrumentals during several of the songs, especially American Woman. This way the band could have performed 4 or five more songs. I did enjoy meeting the band after the show.

This show was unbelievable! Their sound was incredible. Better than any other band I have heard live in a while. Their music has stood the test of time and any one of their hits could be a hit again today. Amazing sound mixing! Loved it! The venue was great, too. Real up close and personal! I would definitely see them again!

  • One of the worst shows ever

by griffo on 5/30/10Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 1 out of 5

I guess I should have expected it. No Burton Cummings or Randy Bachman, it was like watching a bad Axl Rose imitator singing some Guess Who songs. Then the seating was the worst. Seems like half the tables were double-booked, people fighting over that and the ushers clueless what to do about it. Needless to say, never going back to this place or to see this band with this lineup again.

  • The Guess Who awesome show!

Had the audience out of their seats and rockin! The music was incredible and the classic songs of The Guess Who sounded amazing!

  • Phenomenal

by Rosko on 5/30/10Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the original members AND the newer recruits. All were super talented musicians who brought us back to the 60s and made us feel young again. I sang and clapped and danced at my seat all night. Every song was a hit. While it would have been nice to hear the original lead singer, we were not disappointed at the vocal powers of his replacement. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing them to Resorts and at prices we could afford.

  • Guess Who was fabulous!

The Guess Who put on a great show at Resorts Atlantic City. They kept the crowd moving to the music and memories. The only regret was that the show ended too soon!

  • Guess Who was terrific!

Great time at the Guess Who/Foghat concert. Lucky to have awesome seats and enjoy the concert with another fan. Heard all the songs I wanted to hear and loved seeing young people singing along.

  • Loved The Guess Who - Awesome

by Sensy on 5/10/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the funnest and most entertaining concerts that I have been to in a long time. The energy shown by the Guess Who was contagious. The crowd was excited, but respectable. There were no bad seats in the house and the acoustics were great. I would go to see them again in a minute!

  • Guess Who and Foghat were exceptional.

by Anonymous on 5/10/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands, Foghat and Guess Who played exceptionally well. They both played hard and both lead singers sounded exactly like the original musicians. We really enjoy the venue at Black Bear too, because it is such a nice place to hold concerts....You're up close and personal. These older bands bring out the average aged individuals so they are a typically mellow and more enjoyable crowd! I REALLY liked these two bands. They gave an awesome show!!

  • Guess Who/Foghat

by Mislis on 5/10/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 4 out of 5

We were in second row ,dead center. It was great! The bands were fun and interacted with the audience. My friend got a drum stick autographed by Foghat and I got a guitar pick from The Guess Who. Lead singer Dexter from Guess Who sounds just like Burton Cumming! I would go see them again!!!!

  • Great bands, venue, and people

by Purds on 5/10/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

I'm used to spending thousands for front row seats for stones, AC/DC, Clapton, etc. I was in the eighth row (for about $50) for this show and we were right the stage. The bands, although not truly Foghat or The Guess Who, were both fantastic in their own right. The venue was terrific too...I will be back there for sure. The native americans have it down man...they have figured out how to provide the entertainment, and how to treat their customers.

  • A great time!

by CrazyMama2Four on 5/9/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

Had a fabulous time, the guys were great...Foghat was okay, but Guess Who was superb! We had great seats too. It was a great way to redeem what otherwise had been a pretty crummy week and end it on a positive "note!" Loved it!

  • Better Than Expected

I liked everything about the concert except I wish Foghat would have played longer...The Guess Who was better than I expected.

  • The Guess Who with Foghat

by Cadsamd on 5/8/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 4 out of 5

I wouldn't waste my money on Foghat again. I thought they were a real disappointment. The Guess Who was fantastic! A little too much guitar for me. The singer was great! Also felt that 30 minutes intermission was too much. ON WITH THE SHOW!

  • Foghat rocks!

by aer64 on 5/8/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 3 out of 5

I really liked Foghat...Guess Who was fun too, but I liked Foghat a lot more. I have never seen so many old...I mean old people at a rock concert! They were not there just growing older...they were partying like a rock stars. A fun night for all! Can't wait to do it again

  • Not impressed with Foghat

by oldladyrocker00 on 5/8/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 3 out of 5

This was our first visit to the Black Bear Casino Event Center. We have seen the Guess Who in concert before in other venues. The opening act - Foghat-was a BIG disappointment. They spent way too much time "jamming" - I felt it was because they did not have enough familiar songs to play. If they had paid attention to the crowd - they would have seen most of us waiting for them to get done & get it over with! The Guess Who would have been better without an opening act. The Guess Who had lots more energy & were enjoyable. The speaker system at the Event Center left a lot to be desired - when the band members spoke, we could not understand most of what they were saying. And if we had not known the words to the songs they would have been to garbled to understand. Don't know if we will go back - Foghat & the speaker system were the big disappointments of the evening.

  • The Guess Who rocked!

by Bralor on 5/8/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

Foghat was good, but The Guess Who blew me away with their showmanship, the way they engaged the audience, and their great appreciation for the crowd's obvious enjoyment of their show. Foghat fans got what they wanted, but probably not for as long as they wanted. Their gig was hardly 40 minutes. My only negative was that their guitar solos were too long and too much the same old stuff. Good though, especially the big hits "Fool for the City" and "Slow Ride". Frankly, I couldn't think of too many Guess Who hits before the concert, but their show was one smash after another. They were incredible! Furthermore, their very length yguitar solo (actually two guitarists trading licks) was a most enjoyable 4-5 minutes, and the 5- minute drum solo was a great way to lead into "Amerian Woman". Awesome performance.

  • Guess Who was a great concert.

by 1concert on 5/8/10Black Bear Casino Resort - CarltonRating: 5 out of 5

Guess Who Concert included a good mix of songs and very good performance. Great instrumentation with sax and guitar performances that rock. Vocals that reach out and beyond.

  • Guess Who Rocks

    by CoCowboy692000 on 5/8/10Red Rocks - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

One of the most under rated bands of all time. I have followed The Guess Who all of my life and I have seen them live in concert no less than 6 times. The only time I had any qualms, there were only 3 of the original members (downtown Denver open air concert). The very best show I ever saw with these guys was in the early half of 2000's at Red Rocks Ampli-theatre outside of Denver. Joe Cocker opened for them (can't recall the other band - most unfair for them). The show was nothing short of spectacular. Randy got back together with Burton for this show/tour. I would see them again in an instant !! Absolutely amazing performances which included some of the work Bachman did seperate of The Guess Who... Nobody who decides to see these cats would be disappointed ! My recommendation: If you get the chance to see them - DO IT! Worth every dime... with Burton and Randy.
