About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

  • The Guess Who still rock!

by Sariey on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

The show started out a little slow as the majority of the audience were baby boomers who were not quite booming. Luckily Derek Sharp invited us to get up and dance and join him at the front of the venue. Derek played the audience well getting us all booming, even if we weren't born pre-1960. The show only lasted 1.5 hours and since there was no opening act it ended up being an early evening. Best for those who needed to be home by ten! The musicians still played as though they were still in their twenties, they still know how to rock. All in all it was a great show thoroughly enjoyed by all.

  • Great time @ Twin River!!

by Anonymous on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

First of all, the venue for concerts at the Twin River Casino is outstanding, it is small but creates a close atmosphere, I felt embraced in the music! This was my second time seeing The Guess Who here and I would go again. The band members put on an incredible show, playing the songs that I remember from teen years, bringing back memories and creating new. Derek Sharp's voice is outstanding, what a gift he has, all the favorites, "American Woman", "No time", "Laughing", "No Sugar tonight" and on & on, playing their hearts out for over an hour and a half. I would like to thank them for a truly memorable 33rd anniversary celebration for my husband & I, please bring them back to Twin River again!

  • See The Guess Who if you can!

by DBrunoMax on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I saw The Guess Who at Twin Rivers Event Center on Sat. 3/19. Have to say, when I realized there were only two original members, and Burton Cummings was not one of them, I was doubtful that it would be anything other than a tribute band. Was I wrong! The singer is very good and added his own spin to the songs, but was very true to why we loved them in the first place. Band was great! Performed all the hits and then after the show, they met with everyone who was interested in meeting them. They played for about 90 minutes. Great show! Highly recommend it. I'd go again in a minute!

  • Travel back in time with great music

by JJspirit on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Fun Fun Fun! Brought back lots of memories and the words to the songs came back (mostly!) Great jam too - those boys can really play!!! Lots of us older folks there but we were up and moving before too long! Would have liked to have heard more songs - was only 90 minutes long - even with the extended endings :) If you are thinking about it, just go. You'll be glad you did!

  • The Guess Who was the best!

by Rhiannon71 on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

I would see them again if I had the opportunity. The show brought me back to the early 70's....they kept the music alive and didn't stop for a break. Wished the show was longer.

  • More than just nostalgia

by FairMass on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

Very energetic. Extremely tight , professional playing. Played all of their greatest hits and more. Improvised and stretched out several songs. (trippy and pscychodelic late 1960's.) Great party atmosphere. Crowd was in to it. Nice place to see a show.

.......even without Burton Cummings, this band still rocks! Great show, only complaint was wish they had played longer!

  • Forgot how many great tunes they had....

by WhoFan4Ever on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

I remember hearing these guys on 8-track tape when I was probably 10 or 11 in the back seat of my brother's car. These songs sounded uniquely good back then (1970), but thought they sounded even better today, especially live. I wonder if any "modern' bands today could every play this well.

  • A Band for the Ages

by lomls on 3/21/11Twin River Event Center - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

For a bunch of 50, 60, and even 70 year olds these guys really rocked the house. Hits from 1965 to 1979 - all the favorites that we wanted to hear...just outstanding in every way!
