About

The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.

The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.

The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.

With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

  • Excellent Service

    by Grandma5225 on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I attended this show with my 5 year old grandson. Our seats were extremely poor. I asked a member of Production if he could get me better seats. He said that he couldn't but went out of his way to help me. He approached an Event Staff member and asked her to assist me. We ended up with the best seats I have ever had at any concert that I have attended. I purchased drum sticks for my grandson and he drummed and danced the entire time. He even got his sticks autographed. We BOTH had a fantastic time abd can't wait to go to another concert together. Rock On!!

  • Guess Who were great

by Guessw on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The band was very good and the sound was great for outside venue. The band gets a 5 star rating the venue gets 2 stars the seats are way too small. I am a petite person and could not sit in my seat due to the average and large size people overflowing into my seat. We stood the entire concert in the back.

  • The Guess Who really rocked !

by RockerCM on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Derrick was amazing great guitarist, front man, interacted great with the crowd. Loved the duo guitar playing. They were even better than expected. Even though they are considered an older band, I think they made it younger with Derrick leading them.

  • Great time was had by all!

by Magillicudy on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time going down memory lane with 8 other friends. The new lead singer did a pretty good job all around but did exceptionally well on 2. Everyone in our group was glad they went.

  • The Guess Who was as I remember from the 70's!

    by Chips52 on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We bad a blast! They sang all of my favorite songs and it was like going back in time for me. I was 19 again for a night. Derek Sharp was fabulous (and easy on the eyes). Would see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Guess Who wasn't there?

by prestopa on 7/12/11The Meadows Racetrack & Casino - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Concert was great, The band was tight & played with lots of energy. Played most of their hits plus a couple of new ones. But....Burton Cummings wasn't there! I was expecting him because of a review I read about an earlier concert.. Still, a very good show!!

My husband and I enjoyed the show and liked hearing the songs that took us back to our teanage years. We did feel that the band got off to a slow start but they did realize it and got the crowd up! Great time!

The band sounded great and the lead singer kept everyone rockin". It was great hearing the old classic Guess Who songs as well as a couple of new ones. The guitarists all did a great job! We've been waiting for the Guess Who to come back and we were not disappointed.

  • The Guess Who was amazing

I had a great opportunity to see The Guess Who last night with my husband at the Meadowlands Racetrack and Casino in Washington, Pa. The band put on an excellent show. The new lead singer Derek was so good that he sounded just like the original lead singer. The other guys who are the original band members were awesome. They can really still get down with the music even at their age. Their vocals and instrument playing are as good as they were , if not better, all those years ago. I think they improved with age. We had another little treat while we were there....we got to see Gene Simmons. He sat in the audience with the rest of us and got up in front of the stage and jammed to the songs like the rest of us. All in all a great night! Keep up the awesome concerts guys.
