The Guess Who are a Canadian rock band formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The band released eleven studio albums, all of which reached the charts in Canada and the United States. Their 1970 album American Woman reached no. 1 in Canada and no. 9 in the United States, while five other albums reached the top ten in Canada. The Guess Who charted fourteen Top 40 singles in the United States and more than thirty in Canada.
The band found their greatest success in the late 60s and early 70s, under the leadership of singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, with hit songs including "American Woman", "These Eyes", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", and "No Time". With Randy Bachman's exit in 1970, Kurt Winter joined the band and The Guess Who would go on to release the band's top selling album Share the Land. Songs such as "Hand Me Down World", "Hang On To Your Life", "Albert Flasher", "Clap for the Wolfman", "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon", "Star Baby", and "Glamour Boy" would follow.
The Guess Who officially broke up in 1975 with the exit of lead singer Burton Cummings. Cummings. Members of The Guess Who reunited a number of times over the years, with their last concert being in front of 450,000 at the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto SARS benefit concert.
With Randy's powerful guitar work and Burton's distinct vocals and keyboard mastery, the duo continues to capture the spirit of what made The Guess Who a household name. They are more than just former bandmates -- they are ambassadors of Canadian rock, whose influence can be heard in countless acts that followed in their footsteps. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Guess Who were pioneers who dared to dream beyond their borders--and succeeded on a global stage.

Overall, the show was amazing! There is so much talent in this band, and they did the Guess Who songs perfectly. The lead singer, Derek, has an incredible voice, but what I really loved was his rapport with the audience, and his sense of humor. The only drawback to the show was the seating. Chairs were set up on a flat floor - which made it very difficult to see the stage. There were a couple of big screens to watch, but if I'm actually at a concert, I want to look directly at the performers, and not a TV screen.
Highly entertaining...all new members (of course) but sounded great. Couldn't tell the original vocals from the new ones. Would see them again in a heartbeat...
A great performance!! Enjoyed every second of this concert!
I was excited to find that the Guess Who was coming to a local venue . .. .. and was really looking forward to a great show. Seats were good, program was good, but the sound quality of the show was pretty bad. Terrible at times. The band was way too loud for the venue. Lots of reverb and the vocals could hardly be heard at all on several numbers. People around us got up and left before the show ended, and although I don't know for sure why, I suspect it was due to the poor sound quality. I've attended other shows at EPC, so I think the fault was with the sound engineers and not with the EPC itself. Too bad. It could have been a much more enjoyable show.
This is the third time we’ve seen Guess Who and just like the first two times it was really good! D# brings such humor to the show along with his ability to interact with the audience leave’s everyone feeling NOT their age! His musical talents with the talents of Leonard, and the two Michael’s make for 90 minutes of pure entertainment!
Love the small indoor venue at EPC. The band was so much better than expected! Would love to see them again. Great vocals!!
This was one of the fastest 90 minutes of a concert I’ve been to. Entertaining w excellent music and audience participation. Guess Who did not fail to entertain us all w excellent music from the past.
The Guess Who concert at Effingham Performance Center was super fun and fantastic! Fourth time we have seen this group and they just keep getting better! Sound great and very energetic!
They were good doing Guess Who songs. Too much playing new stuff that no one knows or cares about. Lots of original Guess Who they could have played. Playing new music to appear relevant when they only a tribute band.
Been a fan of the Guess Who for many years. This group needs to tone down the instrumentation and do more vocals. They have good voices, but the instrumentation overpowers it
Very well done. Would have been nice to know that the only original member was not performing. The drummer was very good but it was obviously not Mr Peterson
This was a great concert. The venue was intimate, which allowed for a wonderful experience. The band members were all so lively and engaged the audience. Regardless of age, which I will add that my husband and I were a few of the younger ones, this was a fun time for all!
One of the best shows that I have ever been to! Lead singer gave some history of the band/songs and engaged the audience.
These guys are NOT The Guess Who. None of them are original members. You'll be buying tickets to a tribute band.
A magical night... from the great staff at the Golden Nugget to The Guess Who - who's performance was super amazing. The songs sounded fantastic and we were having... you "guessed" it... an AMAZING time.
Great songs that we all love BUT no original members left in the band. How can they keep performing with no ORIGINAL members left. They might as well call them selves the Guess Who tribute band. We seen them many times over the last 36 years. Love the music but this band should stop touring-under the Name GUESS WHO since their are no more original members
For those of us who grew up with The Guess Who, this was a marvelous concert and the showroom was great. Yes it was loud but that was the acoustics and the small venue. It held a lot of people, but it was quite small. The band played all their hits and then some. There was a little bit of comedy comments but mostly playing songs and singing. It was great.
Very good show. Without any original members I give it a thumbs up under the cover band category. The quaint venue made the show feel very intimate. The sound level was perfect and didn’t walk out of there deaf. Derek Sharp is an outstanding front man. Vocals were excellent and he didn’t try to impersonate Burton, though there were a lot of similarities. I would definitely see these guys again. If you like the songs, definitely take in this show.
Great show! Sang along to the songs like I was a youngster again! Brought fond memories of my friends and I singing at the top of our lungs!
