About

The Gilmour Project Live in Concert

In lieu of Pink Floyd is the recently launched Gilmour Project, a psych-jam group named for the one and only David Gilmour. Together, the prog/jazz/jam/psychedelic supergroup reimagines classic cuts and deep-catalog material from the beloved '70s act.

Conceptualized in 2020 and comprising guitarist Jeff Pevar, keyboardist Scott Guberman, bassist Kasim Sulton, drummer Prairie Prince, and guitarist Mark Karan, the Gilmour Project is much more than your average tribute band.

Pevar has spent time playing with Crosby, Stills & Nash; David Crosby; Phil Lesh; and Ray Charles. Meanwhile, Sulton has contributed bass and vocals to Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, Hall & Oates, Cheap Trick, and Patti Smith. Prince is co-founder of the Tubes and has played drums with Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship and Phil Lesh. Karan has contributed guitar and vocals to Bob Weir, RatDog and The Other Ones, and rounding out the band's considerable pedigree is keyboardist and vocalist Guberman, who has played with Phil Lesh.

Though the Gilmour Project was initially forced to press pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they officially launched in mid-2021 with a livestream performance from San Francisco's Great American Music Hall. Later in the year, they organized a Thanksgiving-themed performance, "A Dark Slice (of The Moon)," where they reimagined Pink Floyd's 1973 classic album, plus additional material from Floyd's famed 1972 tour, "The Dark Side of The Moon: A Piece For Assorted Lunatics."

In 2022, the Gilmour Project organized their debut tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of David Gilmour and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, where they performed the album in its entirety, plus rarities from Gilmour's solo catalog.

    Waste of Money

by Dino on 5/15/23The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino - Verona

This was a garage band at best. Spent good money to see a band that was just terrible. When you go to see a cover band you don’t expect them to sound perfect, but these guys had no clue. Singing was very bad. Music was worse. Saw Britt Floyd and Australian Pink Floyd. They both were great. Everyone should get a refund for this show we left about an hour into show. Just terrible

    Great time

    by A. N. on 4/28/23

These guys were a great cover band. If you go into it with that attitude, you won't be disappointed. They played Echoes and No way out (DG solo) along with plenty of other great songs.

    Don’t bother

    by Kenny on 4/12/23

As a Floyd fan I was looking forward to seeing these guys. They struck me as a bunch of musicians that want to make money so they picked Pink Floyd because of their popularity. None of the vocalists sound remotely like David Gilmour. The guitarist had to read lyrics from the monitor. Left early

I meant to leave 3 stars

    by FloydFanPerry on 2/16/23

And I want to add that the 2 vocalists, while not the best vocal choices for this brand of music, were very good musicians.

Keep an open mind for a Jazzy Side Of The Moon

    by FloydFanPerry on 2/16/23

Well, I must say, based on higher expectations due primarily to the misleading title, my wife and I were disappointed. We just plain expected a much higher level of quality in everything from the sonic quality to their versions and iterpretation of the songs. With all due respect to the bassist and secondary guitarist, neither has anywhere near the vocal quality needed to be singing the songs of the Dark Side LP or any other Floyd LP. It really casts a negative shadow over the show right away from the moment they opened thier mouths. The lead guitarist, keyboardist and drummer are really good, even great at times. Bottom line, get some.good singers, abandon the Jazz infusion, and live up to the show as billed. If not, change the title to: "The Dark Side Of Expecting The Dark Side Of The Moon".

Best way to spend the summer

by Traci on 9/20/22Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic City

The band was excellent. Ive seen the show before, and like a fine wine they get better as the age together. These guys are tight. Did an excellent job. And they were the only band to stream for free all summer. You MUST see this show!

    A must see

by Salmarcus on 9/20/22Resorts Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Was not expecting to be overwhelmed as I was. An amazing show with some great musicians. Very impressed. Would definitely see them again and have already recommended others to see them.

    Disappointed.

by Myra on 6/10/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

I was disappointed because the concert was billed to perform one set of the entire Dark Side of the Moon and the 2nd set would be assorted Gilmour pieces and some other Pink Floyd selections. The entire Dark Side of the Moon was NOT performed. Furthermore, the performance lacked the necessary instruments and vocals to perform Dark Side of the Moon. They played the sax part on an organ.some parts were canned. It was more like something I would expect to see in a festival. The musicians were excellent, but 5 guys just can't make the sound. Had they actually done the whole album, I feel more forgiving. They shouldn't advertise to do what they aren't going to do. I travelled all the way from Costa Rica to see this. Very disappointing.

Not what I expected from an event at Symphony Hall

by Kyanite on 6/9/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

The lead guitarist and keyboard player were good. Could barely hear the vocals over the instruments most of the time, though my partner says that was not a bad thing. I had earplugs in because it was so loud, so the issues with the music that my partner noted were not as obvious to me. Overall, it was rather mediocre. Brit Floyd was a much better show.

    Mixed review

by J on 6/8/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Guitarist was great. Vocals were average. They played entire Dark Side of the Moon which was good. I would have expected a few more of Pink Floyd's post Roger Waters hits versus some of the songs they played.

    Great musicianship. Weak vocals.

by Tarkus on 6/8/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Overall, an enjoyable experience. The musicianship was excellent, especially Jeff, the white-haired guitarist and musical director. His Gilmour-inspired solos were exhilarating. The video graphics in the background were also well done. The vocals were just okay and did not come close to the sound of the originals. Still worth seeing.

It was ok. Guitars carried the night! They need to find a lead singer though.

Good musicians, not great vocals. Played some of the obscurer songs. Would rank them third behind British and Australian Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd Cover band. With some very talented people.

by CHEAP CHEAP on 6/5/22NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

We had a great time at the Westbury theater. I really was not sure about going to see the Gilmour Project. But, soon we found out how great they are. They played a large selection of Pink Floyd music from the early stuff to the 80s. Awesome show!

    Didn’t go

by Ripped-off on 6/5/22NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Didn’t find out until last minute that it was a David Gilmour cover band. Tried to sell tix on day of show thru Live Nation website. Jumped through all the online hoops to try to get a sale. Not possible no matter how many times I tried.

    Terrific song selection

by Bob on 6/4/22Birchmere - Alexandria

Have seen a few Pink Floyd and Waters concerts. This was not at all disappointing. It was easy to get used to the slightly different voices. I would have liked to know how much influence Gilmour had. It sounded like an exceptional tribute band, much like Government Mule. Light show was good and the musicians were super. Bring 'em back again!

    Badass!!! Amazing!!!

by Amy on 6/4/22Birchmere - Alexandria

The Gilmore Project was outstanding!!! Was a first concert for my 17 year old son who is a budding Floyd fan. The Birchmere as a venue was perfectly intimate to be up close and personal with the band! Scratched our itch for a live Floyd concert! Can’t recommend enough!
