About

When The Fray first burst onto the scene in the early aughts, the Colorado-bred band introduced the world to a profoundly life-affirming form of alt-rock: timeless but inventive, arena-sized in scope but firmly rooted in raw emotion. Over the coming years, their soul-searching songwriting and high-powered sound led to earning four Grammy Award nominations, scoring a multitude of Billboard top 10 hits, and amassing a passionately devoted worldwide fanbase. Their single "How To Save A Life" spent a staggering 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the "unofficial theme song" for Grey's Anatomy. Rolling Stone praised their "stick-in-your-head hooks and eloquent narratives," while the LA Times called their music "melodically rich." The Fray's debut album How To Save A Life (2005) is certified double-platinum in the US and has been declared one of the best-selling digital debuts of all time.

  • The Fray was really great.

We had lawn seats and after Jack's Mannequin they opened up several sections of bleacher seats to the folks on the lawn and just about everyone got a better seat.

  • Thumbs up The Fray with Jack's Mannequin

by drmquen on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing 4th of July celebration and both Jack's Mannequin and The Fray really put on a fantastic show. They both seemed very grateful to be playing and really thanked the crowd for their support.

  • Jack's Mannequin was TERRIFIC

by Aaron on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

The show opened with some very unknown band that was not so good. Their music was to show tuney. Jack's Mannequin was superb. They handled the stage well and Andrew was AWESOME on the piano. The Fray was lack luster and rather boring, that played their well known HIT and that was the high moment during The Fray's performance. The rest of their songs were annoying and not catchy.

  • The Fray w/ Jack's Mannequin= the best concert yet

    by Heidixx33 on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The concert started on time with a great opening band before Jack's Mannequin came on. Jack's Mannequin played very well and the atmosphere in the theater was electric. The Fray was amazing live and I can honestly say it was the best concert I have ever been to.

  • The Fray at Summerfest

by Keierleber on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The concert started off with Jacks Mannequin doing an amazing preformance ending with Tom Pettys, American Girl. After they sang they signed autographs for the crowd which was really cool. Then The Fray started. They put on the best preformance I've ever seen and the stage lighting and setup was amazing. They sang all of their best songs and it was a concert that you will never forget. Isaac, Joe, Dave, and Ben basically made themselves part of the best band ever with last nights concert.

  • Best Concert I've seen in a long time.

by esatch on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Jack's Mannequin was unbelievable and the Fray was extrememly entertaining. I haven't been to a concert that fun in a long time! I'm so happy I went and can't wait to see them both on tour again!!!

These two bands are phenomenal and the Marcus Amphitheater is an amazing venue, on a cliff right next to Lake Michigan. I want to do it again

  • 2nd concert ever

I used to cringe at the idea of going to a concert. Simply put, I will be living at summerfest next year.

  • The Fray will never fray from my memory

by Jennhorwitz on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I am an avid summerfest-goer. I have seen countless artists at all of the stages, but this was my first time seeing a concert in the amphitheater. My friends and I got lawn seats just because they were the least expensive, so I was a little apprehensive about how great my experience would be-but was I wrong! Our seats were PERFECT! We had a view of the entire stage, and the mega-screens above the stage from a relaxing lawn-venue. We brought blankets to sit on for the pre-show, and then it was standing from there on out! We danced, sang and cried in amazment of how moving the talented group could really be. Each and every song was performed with the same intensity of their records, we honestly were so impressed. And just when they left off stage with out playing our favorite songs, they came back on stage for an impressive 4-song encore, including an amazing acoustic cover of Kanye West's "Heartless", and my personal favorite, "All at once". In addition to our amazement of how spectacularly similar their live performances were to their recorded ones, the intensity of their stage lights/effects matched each and every song. With out a doubt, this was the best concert I have ever seen, and in my opinion, one of the most respectable bands to ever grace the summerfest scene. They were humble, insightful, and an absolute honor to watch.

  • Young and Old Love the Fray & Jack's Mannequin

by Ramblezabbit on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I may have been one of the oldest guy's there 52.Ihave seen many shows and after last Nights show I'm a Huge Fan. The Music was amazing and full of energy. When Jack's Mannequin took the stage you knew it was going to be special. The fans of these bands are younger and know every word to every song.It was so awesome to see everyone having a great time. The Sound was incrediable. Light show Rocked. They could feel the thunder in Chicago. I bought 2 Fray CD's from Best Buy as soon as I got home. This Sow KICKED BUTT!!!! Having a young following was good for me no line for BEER!

  • Could it get any better??

    by peteee16 on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The opening act for Jack's Manneqin kind of sucked and no one knew who they were, but once Jack's Mannequin got on stage, the concert rocked! So much energy and good music. When The Fray took the stage, OMG!! The lights were awesome and The Fray rocked it out. I would definitely go see them again without hesitation.

  • My Two Favorites at Once = Win.

by konfuzedwithaK on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show with 2 amazing bands on 1 ticket. Jack's Mannequin is still a small name but they happen to be my favorite artist and I suggest their music to anyone who already loves The Fray. Andrew McMahon (their singer/pianist) is a high-energy, emotional performer who is exciting to watch and adds to their already great songs when playing live. The Fray themselves have a great concert (it is my second time seeing them) and this time was even better than the first. They sounded great and played a good mix of songs from both their first and second albums as well as their recently released cover of Kanye West's "Heartless", which I did not expect. The light show added well to the experience. The only complaint I have about this show is that The Fray did not play "Look After You" which I was suprised at. Overall it was excellent and I would definitely suggest the show, they are one of the better live bands I have seen :)

  • Amazing!

by JacksFan on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I mainly went to the concert because Jack's mannequin was opening. Jack's was amazing as always and even played an old Something Corporate song. Not only that, but they offered an autograph signing after their set. The Fray came on strong and played for an hour and a half. The lead singer sang wonderfully, with no flaws. It sounded suprisingly like their CD. I really enjoyed myself

  • Jack's

by Mousemel on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 2 out of 5

I was glad to a band that I liked, but because they were the opening band, the tv screens displaying the stage were still and a bit far away from the band. I was far away and could barely see the stage with my own eyes, so I thought that they should have put more effort in allowing us to see them up close via camera. The Fray was next and they had all the fancy lighting and awesome camera moves. Why couldn't the opening band at least have a little more camera coverage? Who knows.

  • The Fray!!!!!

    by Dkozy605 on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

They were alright, I personally think they should have played some more songs, the show was only about an hour. I saw Gavin Degraw the night before and thought he put on a way better show for free. Now I am judging based on a lawn seat and front row so that isn't really comparable. But they sounded AMAZING, same as the radio, I would recommend them if you want to hear some good music.

  • Went for Jack's, stayed for The Fray

by AbsolutJacks on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

After the energetic piano playing of Andrew Mc Mahon and the great stage show of Jack's Mannequin, The Fray was a let-down. Not bad music, just boring stage show, even with fancy lighting. I would still go again to see Jack's; I'd just hope they'd be solo at a free stage or headlining at the Marcus Ampitheater next year.

  • The Fabulous Fray

by Poeartemer on 7/5/09Marcus Amphitheater Summerfest - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Jack's Mannequin were excellent.....but the main attraction was by far and away the BEST! Thankyou FRAY for a wonderful night!!!
