The Moscow Ballet was beautiful and stunning. This is my favorite Christmas gift ever to see this ballet in El Paso.

Terrible!
by Anonymous on 12/18/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5What a joke! When you hear Russian ballet you think top quality, unforgettable performance, and a great experience! WRONG!!! There were no props, ancient backdrops and worst of all local "talent" used during most every dance. It was as if all of the dancers had to "dumb down" their dance just to make it fit with little 5 year olds! Now don't get me wrong, if that was what I had PAID for it would have been adorable! But at 70 bucks a ticket I paid to see top ballet dancers preform a spectacular tradition and I feel it was falsely advertised! The Arabian Dance was spectacular but you know it was bad when the prima ballerina got a half-hearted ovation!

this ballet really disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, the starring dancers were great, but the story was changed and there were too many little kids that gave the ballet an unprofessional look.
Dancers were truly amazing!
by Anamar on 12/18/12The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5The professional dancers told the story through their dancing and expressions that truly touched the audience. This was my nine year old granddaughter's first time and she loved it. My only concern was the little ballet dancers at one time almost ran into the dancers and were a bit distracting, didn't care for that.
Moscow Ballet dancers looked bored + lacked umph!
by rikv on 12/18/12The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 2 out of 5This rendition of the Nutcracker was a snooze fest. It was a shame that the dancers were either tired or bored and the production team was obviously on auto-pilot. This must be the most lame Nutcracker I have ever seen in my forty years of watching this every Christmas.
The performance was encredable
by Shell00 on 12/18/12The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5The dancers were amazing. The costumes were perfect and the kids were so cute on the side.

The Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker was truly beautiful! The costumes and staging were impressive...and in addition to the exquisite professional ballet, we really loved seeing the children and young people from El Paso involved in the production, also!
Performance was Average
by RamaBama on 12/18/12Plaza Theatre - El PasoRating: 3 out of 5The score was recorded and there wasn't an orchestra. The performance seemed less than professional. Me and my wife went to the Moscow Ballet Nutcracker because we thought it would have been better than the local city ballet performances. We will have to try other cities next time. Also, the El Paso Plaza Theatre seating was too tight, sitting elbow to elbow, with people having to squeeze by to get to their seats. The place looked a little old and run down. You would think El Paso would have some place nicer to put on shows.
Excellent performance
by Drusilla42 on 12/18/12The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5The show was fantastic! There were some changes made (no Sugar Plum Fairy, etc...) which made me uneasy, but even so, it was supremely beautiful and well worth seeing again. The only downside was the theatre itself - a lovely venue, but they continued seating latecomers (a LOT of latecomers) well into the first 10 minutes which was obstructing, distracting, and generally rude.

Beautiful performance! Loved the children performing
a new experience
by KLCar974 on 12/18/12Harrah's Resort Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5I've never been to the ballet before but I thought it would be a fun outting for the ladies in my family. I took my grandmother, mother, aunts and cousin. We enjoyed the music and the elaborate costumes very much. However, my cousin is a dancer and she was disappointed with the lead dancer who played Masha. She was sloppy and fell several times during the performance. I had noticed some of the more obvious errors but being a dancer she noticed even more. The rest of us still found the show to be amusing and entertaining.
Had a great time!
by ab3ballet on 12/17/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5The ballet itself was most enjoyable! Proper edicate was not practiced by many. The theatre let people come in late up to 30 minute after the show has started. The couple siting next to me on one side and a couple sitting on my daughters side spent half the time talking, kissing and snuggling, so much so that the man siting next to me decided to take his seat and half of mine so he could flirt and kiss his girlfriend more. They were a HUGE distraction. The theatre was decorated well and staff were friendly.
Excellent Nutcracker
by lisbybea on 12/17/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5Overall the show was amazing. We attended a matinee with lots of children in the audience. They were enthralled by the entire performance, especially the scenes where there were young dancers.
Amazing Performers, But No Orchestra??
by Anonymous on 12/17/12The Wiltern - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5I was once again amazed by the Dancers in the Moscow Ballet, but was also saddened to see that they no longer use a live orchestra in the performance of this beautiful piece of music. (The Nutrcracker), particularly the suite by Tchaikovsky. I saw this same group do the Nutcracker about 12 years ago at the Pasadena Civic Audiotorium with a live orchestra (The Moscow Symphony) and the performance was impeccable. What a dissapointment that they can no longer afford to bring live muscians on the road and must instead play recorded tracks throught the PA. How cheesy! I've done my best to embrace change in this ever-evolving musical world as we know it, but the exclusion of live musicians on this timeless masterpiece was a bitter pill to swallow. What a tragedy!
Nutcracker was enchanting!
by Snowflake8 on 12/17/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5The show was enchanting: the set, the costumes, the music beautiful and the dancing exceptional. This was my first ballet performance and I was very happy with the entire experience. Our seats were very good. A delightful change from our usual Christmas venue.

Moscow Ballet was disappointing
by Anonymous on 12/17/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5The music was beautiful, but much too loud. Mediocre costumes and scenery. Dancing not inspired.
I've lighted the Nutcracker 238 times
by LightingDesigner on 12/17/12Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5I've lighted the Nutcracker 238 times, so I should know what's entertaining. My Daughter and I have worked or watched together for many years; we agreed this is the best!
