About

THE FAMILY STONE IN CONCERT:

During an era of injustice and inequality, living legends the Family Stone broke down barriers with their psychedelic funk and powerful lyrics. With original founding members Cynthia Robinson, Gregg Errico, and Jerry Martini as part of the lineup, the band performs Sly and the Family Stone hits like "Everyday People" and "Dance To The Music" with the same enthusiasm as they did in the ‘60s and ‘70s. The Family Stone and friends always have fans coming out in droves to their thrilling performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Family Stone consists of funk-soul icons from Sly and the Family Stone, a legendary band that defied pop culture with their racially mixed lineup. During their prime the group played a pivotal role in the music of the '60s and '70s with their expansive collection of hits, which included three No. 1 albums and three No. 1's on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts. Embodying the sound that defined an era of radical social change, Sly and the Family Stone influenced other iconic acts like Michael Jackson and The Temptations and were heard by hundreds of thousands of fans in attendance at the monumental Woodstock festival in 1969. Today the band includes original founding members and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson, and Gregg Errico. The Family Stone carry on the legacy of Sly and the Family Stone when they take ticket buyers higher and higher on their hit-filled tours.

by Tenorman1 on 5/19/15Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

Jerry, Cynthia and Grepg are my age and the energy they expended was awesome. I was tired standing, singing and dancing and they just kept going like the energizer bunny. Had a great time and could feel the love in the band.

    Funkaliscious

This was our 2nd time we saw the Family Stone. We love them. We know the base player from Hawaii, so we feel connected. He's an outstanding bass player and music director. It's so much fun to watch Cynthia and Jerry playing the brass together. They are having so much fun and their funky vibe carries into the audience. Let's not forget Greg banging away at the drums. It's unimaginable talking to these folks that were on the stage at Woodstock and they're all Rock n Roll Hall of Famers. Sly's replacement couldn't be any better. He has the look, he has the funk and his vocals make the band complete. And what a surprise to now have Sly and Cynthia's daughter singing in the band. Her voice is fantastic. Not only would I recommend this show, we brought a couple with us that wouldn't of ever thought to come and they had so much fun. Doesn't hurt to have front row seats where we could dance along all night. Every song in their set is memorable. People don't remember and ask, that was their song? We would definately try to see them every time they're in the area. Thank you, Family Stone. You funked it again.

In the beginning there was too much talking. The concert evolved and got better. It was nice to know that Sly's daughter and some Grammy winning members are still in the band. I Thought it was a good show once it warmed up. I am really glad they put the band back together. Sly is one of the great funksters.!!!

Being a Sly and the Family Stone lover, having The Family Stone was like being back in 1970 when they played Summerfest. Who doesn't love all of their songs. And The Family Stone delivered to the Max. Vocals were great, Music was tight.. It was hard not to stand up and dance through the whole concert. Hope they come back

    Tight & Solid

    by JDawg99 on 2/9/15Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

The Family Stone's performance was tight and solid. Excellent music, lots of memories and the words they sang are more relevant today than they were back in '67. All of the singing was perfect and the man taking Sly's place had a very similar voice. This show is worth seeing! Great group. Very polished.

    The Family Stone is AMAZING!

by dancing27 on 5/4/14The Cabarrus Arena and Events Center - Concord

Keeping this short: I go to lots of concerts and have for many years. This was one of the best I've been to. The crowd was small, but the band played as if we were the biggest audience on earth. What an honor to find myself dancing to these songs live after so many years of dancing to them around the house. The crowd was sweet and the band got them involved. I would see them again and again!

If you loved this band 40 years ago, you'll love it even more now. They nail every song, and the replacements for the original members bring a freshness to the timeless music. The funk is still alive. Be ready to dance!
