A world where the critics are in awe, the audiences are in heaven and the neighborhood is buzzing with excitement. Welcome to THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, the new musical comedy that is swooping into town with tons of laughs and the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway! It all begins when a die-hard musical fan plays his favorite cast album, a 1928 smash hit called "The Drowsy Chaperone," and the show magically bursts to life. We are instantly immersed in the glamorous, hilarious tale of a celebrity bride and her uproarious wedding day, complete with thrills and surprises that take both the cast (literally) and the audience (metaphorically) soaring into the rafters.

The title fits the play and one I won't forget.

    by Teach5 on 1/17/10Stranahan Theater - Toledo

It was FUN!! The talent was amazing, I would go see this again. The people we were with saw it on Broadway and loved it. They loved this production, too. Yes, it is farsical, but what a great way to spend and afternoon. You have to keep in mind the era in which it takes place and it all makes magical sense.

    Great show!

The musical numbers were very entertaining. I especially enjoyed the "Drowsy Chaperone" and "George." It was well-acted and is a great farce of a musical!

    Drowsy Chaperone was hilarious

by mugee on 1/16/10Stranahan Theater - Toledo

While there was a key charactor narrating, the storyline didn't dwell on him (although he was hilarious). The entire show was well timed and interesting from start to finish.

Loved the choreography in "Toledo Surprise!"

    by prkguy10 on 1/16/10Stranahan Theater - Toledo

It was a very entertaining 2 hours. The cast was one of the most adept at handling what they were given to do as any I have seen in secondary national tour companies. Acting is making your audience "believe" and despite this being an extremely over-the-top assignment, were absolutely believable in what they were doing., I guess I thought the Man In The Chair bit was carried WAY too far, but a very clever way of introducing what was going one. I just thought his timing was not so good...too many LONG pauses and the speeches could have been much shorter. Every single actor was well suited for their role, right down to their body style and appearance. We have decided to perform the show next season in community theatre...and look forward to attempting to do as good a job.

An show that leaves you with a smile.

by cmern on 1/13/10Capitol Theatre - Wheeling

The play takes you by surprise with humor. I didnot expect the narrator to be such a big part of the show but it truly played well. I enjoyed the music and loved the expression of the characters. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a smile and to escape a little. the only thing I did not enjoy was having good seats and the Captial in which I saw it placed the drummer and a giant gong in from of our seats. They would assist in accomidating us to really be able to view the show better so this took a bit of our enjoyment away.

    Drowsy Chaperone was disappointing

by Me2see on 1/11/10Von Braun Center Concert Hall - Huntsville

Maybe I was expecting too much since it had been recommended by a friend. It had its moments but none that took your breath away. The story line was weak and the songs and scenes only average. It would be more of something I expected to see at the local theatre than on/off Broadway production status. The cast did the best they could with the material but I left feeling that I was over charged for what I received.

It even held the attention of my 12 year old. Great acting, tapping, singing, and dancing. The orchestra was the best part.

by runefun on 1/10/10Von Braun Center Concert Hall - Huntsville

Drowsey Chaperone was very entertaining and whimsical. The singing and dancing were good, the man in the chair was awesome, the lead female singer had great range of singing. Overall I'd recommend seeing this broadway show.

I've seen the show before in Tampa and it's hilarious! I will say that the sound quality at the Lakeland Center was very poor - microphones were going in and out all night and there was feedback on the speakers, etc. that made some of the songs and dialogue very difficult to understand. Plus, the show started late. But other than that, I thought it was a decent show. The one I had seen on its original tour was much better.
