From Tony®, Grammy®, and Academy Award® winner Elton John, Tony-winning director Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County, Steppenwolf Theatre), and Tony-winning producer Kevin McCollum (In the Heights, Avenue Q, Rent, and this season's hit musical SIX) comes The Devil Wears Prada, The Musical.
Runway magazine. The supreme authority of the high-fashion world, and the new home of assistant Andy Sachs. It's a position a million people would kill for, but under the sharp stilettos of Runway's legendary editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, the job is no dream. Up against Miranda's blistering leadership and stratospheric expectations, Andy is pushed to the edge, forced to choose between her career and her own happiness.
Based on the hit film and featuring an all-star creative team led by Elton John and Anna D. Shapiro, with lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub (Suffs at The Public), a book by Kate Wetherhead (Submissions Only), choreography by James Alsop (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), and music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo (Waitress), The Devil Wears Prada, The Musical is a glamorous and hilarious story about finding your place and discovering what matters most.

Great concept for a musical & some good things. Couple catchy numbers, good staging. Costuming is weak & the show, especially the first act is lacking. They need to tighten this show up or it’s DOA on Broadway.
First; what I loved; Nigel! Amazing singer and a beautiful voice! Great actor. You just felt him. So naturally talented! Loved his look, and he made the songs his own.I loved the dance number he was in, in the beginning! And the back up dancers and singers were amazing! Dance choreo and costuming was exciting! Loved the tall blond with the long legs, she should have been in it throughout the músical. I know she was but in a different costume, The set changes were incredible! The Eiffel Tower was outstanding! Loved all the back up dancers and singers. Costuming for them was eye catching. But dance choreo after the begging was only ok. Barely spins, leg kicks, how about some snoody pirouettes? Emily was perfect in her role, vocals, expression, acting, hair, makeup, costuming, all, spot on!!! Loved her!!!! Andy vocals-great, acting-great. Loved her soulful voice. A few songs brought you in but sad to say, the other songs she was given, where “yawn” 😒 I didn’t know she could dance till later in the show. She should have danced more early on! Who ever dressed her should be fired, or made to wear what she wore, and see how they would have felt. I’ve been an extra 8 or more times in Chicago and my clothing was way more exciting! The first outfit with the thigh high boots was cool! But after that, she looked like she was 40 and going to church. “Lord, let us pray, lol”. The dance part when they put the black hat and jacket on her, why black? Um black absorbs light, how about vibrant color like the dancers??? Perhaps go to some Chicago Drag Clubs, Untitled, etc… to watch their shows for ideas? Her boyfriend had great vocals but his acting wasn’t convincing. Loved Miranda, don’t get me started with her clothing, and she’s supposed to be the the fashion police??? Come on!!! Loved her acting and vocals All in all, I am super happy I went, great date with my daughter and I did love certain parts!
Outstanding! Great singing, acting, music and staging. My sister and I had a great time.
Seats were great. Lauren Hunter or Taylor Man Jones (she was black))-I think the program has 2 people listed-- was tremendous and full of energy..Nigel was very good as well. I thought the boy friend was a prop unlike the movie. She could have had her two best friends and that would have worked too. The friends were fine. The movement and the changing of the scenes was flawless. The Amanda Priestly role was ok not quite prop like --maybe one more songs could be sent her way. I love Elton and his Lion King music was spectacular. The music for this show was ok..There were almost too many songs and unlike the Lion King which has 2-3 memorable songs in it ==that you could put in your iTunes library--that is one of the critical missing pieces from this show---not one or two songs that stick in your head. I think the premise is great-I'm glad I went to see it but I hope they work on it before opening on Broadway.
After reading mediocre reviews, I was afraid the show wouldn’t be very good, but I guess I should have had faith in Sir Elton! It’s actually very good most of the time and, in a couple of moments, tremendous. The actor playing Nigel is clearly outstanding, but the rest of the cast is quite good. The worst song in the show is the gratuitous “The Devil Wears Prada.” It has stupid staging of Hell and is just a dumb number that could be cut. Overall, I think the show will be a huge hit on Broadway with just a little tweaking. And no one who sees it will ever feel the same about “cerulean.”
Great experience. From ordering tickets to seeing the show. No problems, having the tickets on my phone was easy. Was able to transfer 2 tickets to our drivers so we could all get in and seated before performance. Play was great, music was wonderful. Very enjoyable.
Wow! What a production and clever interpretation of the movie. The actors and actresses are top notch, particularly those playing the roles of Miranda and Andy. The supporting cast, especially those playing Nigel and Emily, were standouts as well! Absolutely loved the set, including the transformation of the beams into the Eiffel Tower. Kudos to cast, crew and artistic directors!
We just LOVED this play! So much fun! Great sets too! Our family had a wonderful time. BTW that theater is a knockout as well! Gorgeous!
I really liked the play. The only criticism I would make is the main character could have had more stylish clothing. You didn’t get the feeling that you did from the movie based on her appearance. Also, the relationship between the main character and her boyfriend never seemed charismatic. Miranda and Nigel, and even Emily were amazing and we had a lot of laughs!
Charming, fun, and surprisingly funny! Loved the musical numbers and big thumbs up for the amazing sets! Elton John’s music was a perfect fit, although no big hit number stood out. Might not hurt to tighten up parts of the second half, but overall, a delightful theater experience. Best of luck to this show!
It was a cute show. Nothing memorable. I didn’t leave singing or even remembering any song in particular. It definitely needs some work.
The next day I could not remember one song. The supporting cast seemed an afterthought and did not impress. The Emily character was the standout of the show. The sets were very good. The fashion costumes seemed to mock haute couture, rather than celebrate it.
The musical was good, not great. There were some fun numbers. I didn't care for the way it ended with her just sitting at the desk. I like when they have a fun, upbeat number at the end. I had high expectations for this show and was a little disappointed.
I'm so glad I got to see this show! Taylor Iman Jones was wonderful in the role of Andy, and Beth Leavel was perfectly cast as the evil Miranda. The costumes were amazing, the set design was impressive, and the choreography was unique, energetic and fun! My only complaint is that it wasn't in Chicago long enough to recommend it to my friends to see. Would love to see this again once it hits Broadway!
Pretty disappointed, actually left the show early…. I’ve never done that in my life.
An absolute miss — wish we could get a refund. Show was abysmal, we left at the intermission.
LOVED to Costumes... the set .... the music ...need one more strong number in the 2nd act (11 clock number)
We enjoyed the show very much, very entertaining. The character of Niguel did an excellent job as well as the lead actress Andrea. Very similar to the movie story line but with a lot of songs and dancing. Enjoyed the music by Elton John very much.
Show was great but we were unable to decipher lines of everyone except Miranda. Her diction was excellent. Loved the show anyway. Getting Ticketmaster loaded and deciphered took two horrible hours. Not organized well or predictable.
