When did Pinkalicious become an obnoxious brat?!

by bcpixton on 2/18/14Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

This musical had so much potential. Sadly, the actress playing the title roll has one level - cheese gratingly loud. Her voice is brassy, nazal and even in the balcony, we cringed with almost each note. A simple correction from the musical director would have saved us all the trouble. Also, what is one of the cutest, spunkiest characters in contemporary children's literature has somehow been turned into an obnoxious brat, consistently defying her parents and trouncing about the stage. The acting is barely better than roadshow quality - Peter was the most natural with a fun character. Save your money or go see a touring Broadway show instead.

    Good for Girls

by threegirlsandaboy on 2/18/14Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

We took our 8 year old boy and 5 year old girl. They were very excited. My boy was pretty bored with the play, and my girl was into it until about 15 minutes before it ended. I enjoyed it. It had some humor in it that the kids didnt understand, but was funny for adults. It had a mom and child point of view.

Little girls under 10 seemed to find the musical delightful. Maybe not as much for 10+ years.

The seats on the main level (orchestra) are definitely worth the $5-9 increase in price rather than being up in the balcony! Great performance as well.

    Annie: felt like home; NYC!

    by Jess1229 on 10/21/13Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

Being from NYC I was brought back to my roots and my love for broadway type shows. The acting was remarkable for these young girls and everyone else. I teared up at the first "Tomorrow" since I grew up watching this movie with my grandpa that's no longer with us. The NYC accents were exaggerated but tasteful!!

    Peter Pan was magical!

    by SassyMom3 on 4/25/11Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

We took our 4 1/2 and 3 year old kiddos to see Peter Pan, it was a great adaptation! I was worried some of the parts they were looking forward to from the movie may not be included in this shortened version (crocodile, mermaids) but everything was there. My daughter was in awe, and excited to see all of Tink's friends were there, too. A wonderful first experience with the Children's Theater - we will definitely be back!

    Peter Pan

by gribs on 4/16/11Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

The show was OK. It departs heavily from the traditional PP with less music that we know. At times the condensation of the story makes it difficult to keep the storyline together unless you're a true "believer in faireys" of the original show. My grand "pixies" were very happy with the show but they knew it departed from the story they have seen done almost annually by the fifth grade music students of their grandmother's elementary students. Wish she (and our local public school) could get $20 per ticket (plus handling charges) for those performances. We love Cincy Children's Theatre and wish them well.

    Peter Pan

by floridagranny on 4/11/11Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

I grew up going to the Taft in Cincy to attend Childrens Theater, Our public schools took us yearly. Now my grandchildren are at the age where they love books and by seeing the stories on stage is the greatest treat! I purchase ticketts for events in the City so they can enjoy and gain from the background knowledge they build in the Arts! Their favorite will always be the time we all sat in the front row at the small theater in the Aronoff and watch the Sound of Music come to life before their eyes. My granddaughter was the show stopper with her BIG Sigh! at the right moment!!! These programs give young families the opportunity to have lasting experiences! They did call me the moment they came out and said they loved it and could I get them box seating for next year, all the shows that will be available. So yes we love your programing! Grandma in Florida, see you in the summer! Cincy will always be home!

Very cute play and good acting!

by forcats on 4/11/11Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

All in all it was a great play. Our only complaint would be the screaming kids all around us! We realize that it is a children's theater, however, the parents can't be enjoying it either.

Peter Pan Jr. - great for kids AND adults!

by thejenami on 4/11/11Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

All of the actors did such a great job. The adults, the children, everyone was enthusiastic and in character. Kari Keeler's (playing Wendy Darling) vocal performances were outstanding. The sets were well done. Very believeable and the transitions between locations were flawless. I thought the length of time for the show (1 hour) was perfect for a children's theater production. This was my first time at the Taft and I will definitely go again. Great job!
