About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

They sounded better live than they didon their records and that's a pretty spectacular feat. Go see them.

  • Dixie Chicks in Great Form

by Musicnut on 6/23/16BB&T Pavilion (Formerly Susquehanna) - CamdenRating: 5 out of 5

It was so great to see the Chicks back in the United States! They sounded great, no issues with the sound system, and they had their standard backhanded appreciation for US politics. We didn't see the opening act, so I cannot comment on him other than I hadn't heard of him before.

  • LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS!

by CEMD on 6/21/16BB&T Pavilion (Formerly Susquehanna) - CamdenRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I waited 10 long years to get the opportunity to see the Dixie Chicks in concert and we were NOT disappointed! What a fantastic night!!! These are three seriously talented women. They were amazing. The setlist was so long though I wish it could have gone even longer. There were a couple of favorites I would have liked to hear, but they can't sing everything! We had great seats. I loved the set and especially when they made the stage seem more intimate with the curtain and they all played and sang sitting down. Made it feel like a whole other concert.

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

    by 2MaineFans on 6/21/16Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 5 out of 5

There are no words to sufficiently describe this event! Pitch-perfect, both musically and culturally, this concert hit the mark! The Dixie Chicks have not lost one fraction of their powerful vocals, dramatic excitement, or political edginess over the years! in fact, they have honed their amazing harmonic/instrumental skills, and humor to an even finer degree. We were both delighted and honored to be in the audience... BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • Dixie Chicks sound better than ever!

The Dixie Chicks were amazing--they looked great and sounded better! What a great show--way too long to have waited to see them again!

Poor performance. Way too many political references... took away from their music and talent.

  • Good seats/music, but the VIP package was a joke

    by RobS123 on 6/21/16XFINITY Theatre - HartfordRating: 3 out of 5

I paid $700 for 2 tix. The seats were really great, 8th row, but the fact that I couldn't sell the tix and the less than exciting VIP package has left a bad taste in my mouth. If we could go backstage and meet the artist for a few minutes or maybe get free parking close to the building or some other perk it would have been worth it. All we got was a pass to go to a private area with other VIP ticket holders (big deal) , a water bottle and a string backpack, both worth maybe $15. Underwhelming, and Live Nation definitely got the better end of the bargain here. Never again with the VIP package.

Great concert and love the venue! Drove from Maryland to see them and it was well worth it! Also liked Anderson East, great set!

  • Wide Open Spaces!

    by macmar71 on 6/21/16XFINITY Theatre - HartfordRating: 4 out of 5

The girls were electric! They have not lost a beat since being off tour for ten years. They sound as tight as ever. I enjoyed hearing all my favorites, Ready to Run, Truth No. 2, Top of the World, Cowboy Take Me Away, Landslide and Wide Open Spaces. It was cool they did a tribute to Prince as well.

  • Welcome Back Ladies! OH how we have missed you

This was a fantastic show. It was worth the rain and they sound fantastic and I love the covers and all of the musical instruments, music styles and issues that take place on a DCX stage.

  • Phenomenal -- World Class Concert Event!!

by candco on 6/20/16XFINITY Theatre - HartfordRating: 5 out of 5

DCX are straight-up class. Superb musicianship -- they're better than ever. The show was first rate all the way -- production, concept, music selections, wardrobe, relevance. Plus, fantastic engagement with the audience throughout. You could tell that all three were thoroughly enjoying themselves and that they wanted nothing more than to entertain. They honored Prince. They honored the Orlando victims and rights for all humanity. I go to a lot of concerts of all kinds, and as of this moment, this one tops the list. If they're coming your way, or even if you have to travel -- absolutely NOT TO BE MISSED!!! Best $$$ I've ever spent on a concert. I would attend the exact same show tomorrow. Opening acts: Josh Hebert -- OK. Anderson East -- these guys were great, but the lead dude's negativity ("I know you don't want to sit through our set") and commentary spoiled what they offered. If he'd been upbeat, etc., people would have joined in. They should "buck up" and make the most of this opportunity to be seen by a larger audience and expand their fan base. They're incredibly talented.

  • DIXIE CHICKS ROCK!!!

  • HORRIBLE

    by axid123 on 6/20/16DTE Energy - ClarkstonRating: 1 out of 5

Hands down the worst concert I've ever been to. And I've been to a lot of concerts. They played WAY too many cover songs... it took until the 7th song in until anyone even knew it. I was sooooo excited to finally hear them live but I spent way too much money on these tickets. And they brought their political crap into it again. Let's just say I will never go to another Dixie Chicks concert again and there's a reason they stopped touring.

  • Amazing!

This was my first time seeing the Dixie Chicks and they didn't disappoint!

  • The Chicks still got it

by RichSad on 6/20/16XFINITY Theatre - HartfordRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Dixie Chicks 4 times now. I've enjoyed every concert of theirs. This show wasn't the best one from my perspective. But they sounded great just the same. Natalie, Emily, and Martie were showcased as you would expect. What was lacking for me was the driving rock underpinnings that I remembered from their prior shows. Of course the three talented women should be centerpiece and their guitar/banjo picking and fiddling should dominate many songs. But I missed a more driving beat and electric guitar. Let me explain something unique to me and this concert. I went to three concerts in three consecutive nights this week. First Wednesday was Tom Petty's Mudcrutch at House of Blues Boston. Next day, Thursday, was Hall & Oates in Bridgeport, CT. Following night was Friday night with the Dixie Chicks in Hartford. I am a guitar player. I love nearly all music. But deep down I crave guitar driven rock music. Mike Campbell of Mudcrutch/Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was ON FIRE on Wednesday night and blew my mind with his guitar. Hall & Oates had Daryl, John and Shane Theriot driving their tube amps to beautiful tones. So let's be fair. Dixie Chicks are not a guitar driven rock band. Their country flavor was as delicious as ever. The political commentary was delivered primarily through the graphics (beyond the lyrics of a few songs). It seemed balanced. The press made a big deal of the devil horns on Donald Trump (which appeared for a fraction of a second) but mentioned nothing about Hillary and Bernie in clown costumes (all major candidates appeared in the costume as far as I could tell). Politics were not a huge factor in this show. Country music of the particular flavor the Texas band delivers was the highlight. My guitar distortion withdrawals aside, the music was delightful. We had a great time. Love the XFINITY Theatre in Hartford. It's an outdoor venue. The weather was perfect. A fantastic show. Hope they tour again. Hope we don't have to wait a decade again.
