About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

The Dixie Chicks are the best no matter what a bunch of narrow minded folks think.

Great concert! Natalie's voice sounds so good live and the covers they sang were awesome! Hope it's not another 10yrs before they come around again cuz I'm ready to go now!

The Dixie Chicks started out with songs most people didn't know. However, a handful of songs in they started playing the songs we had all come to hear. They really didn't try to connect with the fans which was disappointing in many ways. Exiting the venue was a complete nightmare. So much so, I will not be going back there for a concert.

Wonderful concert. Sunlight Amphitheater needs to change their beverage selection though. This is the PNW, please serve local!

Great job Dixie Chicks. My favorites were the oldies!

  • Overall Okay

by DCXFan on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 2 out of 5

I have seen the Dixie Chicks twice before and so maybe my expectations were too high. Their opening acts did not get anyone fired up for the show. The first guy Josh Herbert had a really nice voice, but the music was set too loud and overpowered him. I thought that he was a better fit for the show than Anderson East. It seemed like Anderson East played a lot of covers and it was just a weird opening act for the Chicks. He has a great voice though. Overall the Chicks still sound good, but it just isn't the same as it used to be. I have seen the Dixie Chicks twice before and so maybe my expectations were too high. • Vancouver WA show

by BrianLan on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

We were really pleased with how well they still sounded, & the musicianship was excellent just as before. Been 10 years & a lot of life changes in between, glad to see them back. And the turnout was outstanding as was audience participation, that was heartening with all the Chicks have been through. They must have felt the love too as they were clearly enjoying themselves & were very engaged with the audience. Sounded just like they never took any time off. Sure hope they are now inspired for some new material, they have a lot more left to say I would think. Excellent show if you are a Chicks fan & if not, come with an open mind & an appreciation for excellent musicianship. Visuals were very good also. Country radio stations need to get over their politics & just play the great music the Chicks have made. Crazy & a long time ago, besides the Chicks were right! Sunlight doesn't have great acoustics, so even though we were straight in the middle, the sound was a bit muddy. I wish they would upgrade & work on that. As usual traffic just sucks when leaving this place, but we were still feeing good about the show, so didn't mater.

  • The Chicks Still Amazing after 10 years!

by ChicksPDX on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

So glad that the Dixie Chicks are touring again! Tons of energy, incredible musicianship, and many of the old favorites. I love the Taking the Long Way album, so I was ok with the larger proportion of songs being from it, but I could tell others may have wanted more of the older stuff. The Bluegrass set was amazing! But unfortunately the sound guys really messed up the mix after the stage change, and their voices were kind of drowned out by the guitars for the rest of the concert. Would I have liked the encore to end with a Dixie Chicks song, like "I Hope", rather than covering "Better Way"? Yes, they probably could have gotten across the same message with a familiar song geared more toward their unique talents. But it was still great!

  • Dixie Chicks were amazing!

It has been 10 years since they have toured and it was definitely worth the wait. They played for 2 hours and sounded excellent. I loved the show. Go see it if you get the chance!

  • Must see!

Best show we have gone to in years! If you have the ability to go to a Dixie Chic concert this year GO you will not be disappointed:-)

  • Love the DCX!!

    by JCW4 on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. True northwest experience complete with rain and wind in July. I was amazed at how good Natalie's voice is live. They all did a great job. I Went with old high school friends and it was awesome singing along to our favorite songs from back in the day. Very fun moms night out. Only downsides: Lines for food and beer were super long and slow moving. Getting out at the end of the show also took awhile. The park and ride probably would have been a better option.

  • Dixie Chicks sounded great!

Fun show! Music was what I expected from them. They totally delivered!

  • Sounding Good !

    by Fritziebaby47 on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

Yes, the Chicks are older, and yes they use a little more make-up, but the sound is still just as good as it was 15 years ago. They have not diminished at all.

  • Dixie Chicks were great, the venue not so much!

by Anonymous on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 3 out of 5

The Dixie Chicks performed for a solid 2 hours. Very impressive. Unfortunately for the first half of the concert the folks on the lawn couldn't hear very well. We think some of the speakers weren't on. We had a great time at the concert, but it was very frustrating to learn when we got to the gate that the rules had been changed and we were not allowed to use our lawn chairs. According to the website our low to the ground chairs were allowed, but not when we got to the venue. It was raining and lots of people just ended up on wet grass. Fortunately we had a tarp. And getting out of the parking lot was a nightmare. We did not move for at least 45 minutes. We made the most of a concert that we were really looking forward to, but I won't be returning to Sunlight Supply Amphitheater again.

  • You have to see them!

by Anonymous on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

The talent that these artists possess is incredible. As if hearing Natalie sing wasn't enough, watching Marty play the fiddle and Emily pick her banjo is so mesmerizing. I took my husband (who is into Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden) and he LOVED it as much as I did. Totally entertaining from start to finish. A must see concert. You won't be disappointed!

  • DCX World Tour MMXVI rocked!!!

  • Hands down- best concert, ever!

by LonaPete on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

Even the PNW rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the Dixie Chicks. The ladies still put on an amazing show. They're upbeat, liberating, and hilarious. My girlfriends and I felt like we were 25 again!

  • Great Venue

    by ColdplayFan1000 on 7/12/16Sunlight Supply Amphitheater - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was very good. Anderson East was an entertainer and the Dixie Chicks were great. I especially enjoyed the covered amphitheater keeping us out of the rain. Long lines for drinks. Convenient restrooms.

  • Dixie chicks - meh

Seemed almost robotic. Exact same set list at all their concerts. No interaction with crowd.
