About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

by Jackie B on 9/24/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been a Chicks fan for nearly 30 years. I’m not that familiar with their new stuff. It was powerful music. Great, great vocals and supporting band. Loved it.

  • Perfect show, perfect night

by Courtly on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks emotionally move me with their excellence live performance skills and the power of their music. Merriweather is an en excellent venue that is big but built to make it easy to navigate without being stuck in traffic to get in and out.

Terrific concert by super talented trio of women and strong supporting band. A thrill to see them in person.

  • I had a great time!

by Elyse on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Love the Chicks! So much fun. The only glitch was that due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control the show had been postponed from August. Knowing that I was going to be beyond tired the next day did not deter me from going. They put on quite a show!

  • Great time

by Mama chick on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

Merriweather Post Pavilion was a great location for our concert. We had lawn seats. 1st time on the lawn. Wish we could have used our beach chairs. The Chicks were great.

  • Takin the long way…

by Mandi on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The show was rescheduled from August due to illness. Wow, was it ever worth the wait! Natalie can sing her face off and Emily and Marty amazed me with their talents on multiple instruments. They played all the hits and some phenomenal covers. Who doesn’t love a Patty Griffin song? Wild Rivers were also great. I’ve been listening to them on loop ever since.

  • Great show!!

  • Amazing music - horrible parking

    by Cork58 on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The chicks are such an amazing energetic band. We loved their performance! Two venue complaints… - We left right at the end of the performance and got to our car. We drove down two levels, and then sat there for 45 minutes! No movement. Nothing. With a real damper on a great time. - I guess this is less a venue complaint and more an attendee complaint. Why do people think it’s more fun to stand for two hours to listen to a concert? I don’t mind standing when there’s something exciting going on, but the whole time?. Pretty annoying. Really turns me off to wanting to attend big venue concerts like this.

  • Great time with The Chicks

    by KG11 on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert! After so many years you can tell they still enjoy performing and want their fans to have the best experience possible

  • The Chicks never disappoint! Loved the show!

by Sarah C. on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks and their band put on a fantastic show! They were so energetic and I loved everything about the performance. Still one of my favorite bands ever! Merriweather Post Pavilion is not my favorite venue. They need to create more bathroom space for women at shows that have a majority of women. The parking situation is horrendous and of course it took an hour just to get out of the parking garage. A ticketholder shouldn't have to give up the last few songs of the night just to be able to get out of the parking garage in less than 30 minutes. Loved the Orange Crush and pretzel but the pub cheese was gross. The video on the screens within the covered seating wasn't lined up with the audio so it was too annoying and I couldn't watch it.

  • Good music

    by Tg122 on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 3 out of 5

Wish they would of done more old stuff. They played and sang- no frills

  • Amazing show, horrible parking

by Nancy on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I love the chicks and will see them anywhere however, we had to park almost a mile away and walked back in the dark. It was not safe.

  • The best! The Chicks always put on an excellent show

by Kim K on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks put on a great show in Maryland. They are A+ entertainers and I can't wait until I can see them again. I wish I could go to Australia and see them with Elle King.

  • Literally best night ever—living out my childhood

by No L on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

The Chicks were incredible!!! Had the best time—definitely a lowkey, traditional concert vibe. played for about 90 mins, no encore, but they definitely played the classics and the new jams.

  • A Waste of Money Thanks to an Inconsiderate Fan

by Disappointed Fan on 9/23/23Merriweather Post Pavilion - ColumbiaRating: 2 out of 5

The young woman behind us either "sang"or yelled "woooo!"all night. This drowned out Natalie, the lead singer. During "Landslide", a beautiful, quiet, song, the woman was all we could hear. Six people near us left early because of her and we did as well. We wasted over $225.

  • Best concert ever!!

It was our first time at this venue, it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, great selection drinks. The Chicks were so amazing. We will definitely go back.
