About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • DCX - concert of a lifetime!!

by DaniDCX on 6/19/16Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 5 out of 5

If I never see another concert my whole life I will be fine. This was everything I was hoping for and more. I grew up listening to the Dixi Chicks and never though they would get back together so I could see them perform. They sounded better in person then the recorded songs. The show was very thoughtful and entertaining. All in all I would love to see them back in Maine next year!!!

  • Dixie Chicks Need a Sound Check

by Allaboutdabass on 6/19/16Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 2 out of 5

I love the Dixie Chicks and a big part of that is their nogreat voices and exquisite harmonies. Unfortunately we couldn't hear any of the voices due to the muddy sound of the band that really overwhelmed the voices. I could feel the bass and the bass drum, but they were way too much for the rest of the band and the singing. The fiddle and banjo were also missing in the sound. It got better during the acoustic portion, but still a little too much of the bass and rhythym. Visuals were fantastic! But I felt like I only got to enjoy half the show. We were in the 14th row and maybe things were better further back but I doubt it.

  • Dixie Chicks have no chemistry

by ac130120 on 6/19/16Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

This is my 2nd time seeing the Dixie Chicks, and I had really high expectations. Although they sounded great, their song choices were a bit limited. They sang a lot of their rowdy songs, mostly from their last 2 albums, and very few ballads. They actually threw in a Beyoncé song, which made little send to me. Their roots appear in no way similar to Beyoncé. My biggest issue was the obvious lack of chemistry, and complete lack of personality. It appeared to me, that the riff that tore them apart, never got mended. Natalie said very little on stage, and none showed any emotion. They don't seem to like each other at all, and don't look like they enjoy performing one bit. I'm not sure that reuniting works, when it's something you clearly don't want to do. I am a big fan, but not sure I would bother seeing them again on tour.

Amazing! I forgot how much I loved the Dixie Chicks! I left feeling inspired and empowered. Thank you for such a memorable night!

  • by dissapointed57 on 6/19/16Xfinity Center - MansfieldRating: 3 out of 5

As usual the sound mixer is deaf, the instruments volume over powered the great singing by the Chicks. The audience even after paying for seats felt it necessary to stand for the whole show.

  • DCX - late start

    by Samantha04401 on 6/19/16Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great once it started. I was not happy however that we were told the show would start a half hour early, at 6:30 instead of 7:00, then the band didn't come out till almost 8:30 and there was a long lapse between the Dixie Chicks and the opening band. By the time they started everyone was yawning and getting tired. Because of that the whole atmosphere during the show had changed. The show itself was very good but I was disappointed that we were left waiting so long that our excitement for the show turned into tiredness and annoyance and really ruined the vibe for the night.

    by Mblue1951 on 6/19/16Darling's Waterfront Pavilion - BangorRating: 5 out of 5

They played all their greatest hits and more. The large screen graphics were well done. A great talent was behind them. The crowd was so enthusiastic, it added to the excitement.

We saw the DCX 10 years ago & they are great. This show is even more amazing. The special effects were fantastic. They hit the stage at 8:40pm & played until 11pm.

  • The Chicks

by Bobby618 on 6/18/16Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Loved it, and Natalie didn't go to political. Only During ready to run was the background political but it was funny and hit both parties. Always wanted to see them, and glad I did!

  • Too Loud!!

by Miltonio on 6/17/16Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

it was an experience; but, it was so loud it was impossible to discern the words. it was also too much of a rock concert and not enough country. I listened to two of their CDs on the ride back home and would never have guessed I had been to one of their concerts.

  • DCX unbelievable!!!!!
