    The Bodyguard

The entire show was excellent. Best show I have ever seen. My only criticism is that in this environment, the opening moment should be changed.

If you did not have an opportunity to see this play...you missed out on something so wonderful and spectacular. This was absolutely an outstanding performance by Debra and the other cast members. The storyline and the musical performances kept me engaged throughout the production. This was definitely a 5 star performance.. I would unquestionably go and see it again, if it returns to the Chicago stage in the future..

    Amazing music!

by Flygirlual on 2/15/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I had seen this show in London with a different cast and really enjoyed it. This version which starred Deborah Cox was also very enjoyable. I probably would've raved more but I saw Hamilton last weekend . I saw Deborah Cox in Broadway's "Aida" years ago and she never .disappoints. The catalog of Whitney Houston songs on the show alone is enough to make it a must see !

    The Body Guard was OK

by bobbobarebob on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Although the substitute cast did a fair job, the play was mediocre without the main cast. It is suspected that the major cast did not want to perform twice on a given day, which resulted in a second hand performance. The price did not cover a second hand show!

Not the worst I've seen but damn close...

by unclerouse on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Wow...not sure where to even start with this hot mess! Firstly though let me give kudos to Deborah Cox - that woman has got the pipes and does Whitney justice...BUT this show is just a mess; the acting is absolutely some of the worst I have ever seen - sadly, Deborah included. The dancing is equally pathetic. The show so shamelessly exploits the Whitney catalogue of music to no avail. Whitney would not be proud. The story line is extremely weak - and at one point almost entirely skips over the fact that an integral murder occurs to a major character (one of the few who actually acted and sang well). The young man who plays Fletcher is out of his range in the acting spectrum - he was overacting and over-singing his part which was clearly above his vocal range. Perhaps the worst part of the show were the little snippets of the stalker/murderer appearing for a brief few seconds onstage in spotlight in ridiculous poses and even worse actions. It came off as sadly humorous instead of horrifying! The supporting characters: her publicist, manager, etc. were probably some of the worst actors I have ever seen - and I've seen ALOT! I cannot recommend this show to anyone - especially Whitney fans - it desecrates her memory.

    Wonderful Show

by McDSt21 on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Wonderful show, a little disappointed Deborah Cox could not perform but many times singers voices can't handle the routine of theartical performers, her understudy voice was a bit soft at times, but I felt she truly channelled the spirit of Whitney. Jasmin Richardson, the sister, on the hand blew the showvoutbof the water and I was pleasantly surprised by the son's voice. The cast as a whole did an excellent job. Would definitely recommend it to others. Just remove Deborah Cox name from the billing.

    Mediocre understudy for lead

by jenniferc21 on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

It was cute, but the understudy for Deborah Cox was mediocre so that made the entire show disappointing. Meanwhile, the actor who played the sister totally outshined the understudy & was amazing so it was even more disappointing because I kept wishing she was the one filling in for Deborah Cox. The storyline put to a musical needs strong vocals to hold up -- the lead's songs are what would make this production-- and sadly, it just didn't have it. Hopefully, others had a better experience with the true lead present.

Slow to start, second act was better

by zimmerman80 on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The show was slow to start, with both plot and singing. By the second act, however, both were decent and the show was enjoyable.

    THE BEST

by ziecorp on 2/14/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The best, Had a hard time staying in my seat with all the music. The replacement for Debra Cox was fantastic I think her voice was better then Whitney Huston. I would see it again.

    A great night!

by Luv1ski on 2/13/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

How were they going to take an awesome movie and put it on stage? They did it and did it quite well. My disappointment for the night was that Deborah Cox was sick and the understudy performed quite admirably. Other than that, the score, band, and the story was excellent. Had a great time!!

Debra Cox did sing the lead

by Concertgirl2906 on 2/13/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

It was really fun to hear the music but the we did not know until we opened the play bill that Debra Cox was not playing the lead and no t singing at all! The girl who played the lead was a poor choice........her voice was great don't get me wrong but it was not anywhere near Whitney. The girl who played her sister had the much better voice that resembled Whitney. Most disappointed that on a Friday night the lead singer Debra Cox was not in the play. It why we bought the tickets.
