An evening of fun, beautiful songs and fun! Pure enjoyment! And don't leave early, the party on stage after the play is a blast!! Saw the show twice in one weekend and loved every second!

    The Bodyguard

by nghtmare on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

This play was one of the best that I've seen in a long time. The singing was excellent by all performers in the play who had singing performances. I would highly recommend this play to everyone. It is also age appropriate for most audiences.

    No Debra Cox

by Nottoooohappy on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I enjoyed the play but the unexpected noise in the beginning was heart stopping and could have traumatized someone with a weak heart. Also, I want to hear and see Debra Cox, not the backup to the backup.

    Meh

by CinM8 on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The dancing was lazy and uninspired, the singing was not as expected and Frank Farmer was so forced as to induce eye-rolling.

    The Bodyguard...meh

by Tlovey on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I was expecting so much more seeing that Deborah Cox was starring in this production. I know that she can really sing but I felt that she was really holding back. It's hard to do Whitney but I thought she could pull it off. She didn't. She looked really thin and her acting wasn't that good. The overall play was just ok. Not impressed.

    LOVED IT, BUT FELT TRICKED!

by DeborahWHO on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The actress that played the part of Whitney did an amazing job. You can truly tell she put in ALOT of work to perfect her craft of portraying people in stage plays and her voice was phenomenal. BUT, I feel tricked at the fact of NOT being informed that Deborah Cox would not be performing all the shows, including mine. I feel that was a HUGE let down considering that was our MAIN reason of attending, buying the best seats, adding on suite service and simply going all out to enjoy the show from DEBORAH COX. But then, to have that taken from you without your knowledge is truly unfair. I love the bodyguard, but I was even more excited to be seeing it played by Deborah Cox, every since she did the voice for Whitney's Bio on lifetime tv, and I did not get a choice in not attending because of not knowing the main character would not be performing. I feel as though that was very distasteful on Broadways behalf and very deceptive especially for people like myself who made a nice little trip to this show to see Deborah Cox. My suggestion for people who plan to still attend, call the box office before purchasing your ticket to verify that Deborah Cox would be in your musical line up. And again, I in no way want to discredit all the amazing work of the other actors, you all were amazing. I just feel Broadway should have informed people.

    Great Show!

by baumford on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I give the understudy to Debra Cox a lot of credit. Many fans were not happy that Debra was not in the matinee. Her understudy did not disappoint nor did the rest of the cast. We really enjoyed the show!

    The Bodyguard was fun

by Sturgeon69 on 2/7/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

More of a "show" than a play. The music was the headliner. Individual performances were not extraordinary. Overall, a nice place to be on a cold February night.

I thought the play was spot on with the movie! Deborah Cox can sing just like Whitney Houston (racheal Marron)

I enjoyed every minute of the play except the opening gun shot! It scared me because it was quite loud.

    Good singing/dancing, bad acting/plot

by SurlySeamus on 2/6/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The Bodyguard features capable singing and dancing which are the most enjoyable parts of the show. This should really be why you come, anyway. The plot is confusing, threadbare, incoherent, and the dialog forgettable to laughable. Wooden acting doesn't help, but these actors and actresses didn't have much to work with. Song and dance numbers sometimes start spontaneously with no lead-in or build-up like a normal musical. If you go, mentally check out of the plot and just enjoy the tunes. Just a word of warning, there are some gunshots during this show.

    Definitely A Must See!!!

Bravo! Great casting! Deborah Cox and Jasmin Richardson sounded GREAT! Not a dry eye in the audience. Whitney would have been pleased!

    We loved it

by BarbReichert on 2/4/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

It was was wonderful review of Whitney Houston's works. I did not think that Judson Mills was very authentic. He should have smiled more as Kevin Costner did. He seemed automatonic. But the work of the rest of the cast was evident. I wish them good luck on their tour.

RUN DONT WALK to SEE THIS SHOW! ABSOLUTELY AMAZIN

by GeorgeG13 on 2/3/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I was skeptical about a musical version of this incredible movie and taking Whitney Houston's part is a lot to live up to, but I was wrong. This was an AMAZING production, with great staging, and great cast and Deborah Cox was absolutely incredible. I never stood still in my seat the Music was awesome, the songs were just superb and at the end of the show the entire audience was up on their feet clapping and dancing with the cast. It reminded me of when I first saw Dream Girls many a years ago. I would highly recommend this show! Koudos to the writers, choreographers and musicians and of course the cast!
