    Fun Day Out!

by Babybun on 6/14/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Transportation from Midtown Manhattan relatively easy with direct train to Belmont from GCS. Entry to Clubhouse and Grounds organized and well staffed. I wish I could say the same for the concessions. It was clear that they didn't have enough staff for this event. My husband managed to get the last remaining beer at one concession so we split it. We would have gladly had several drinks but the hassle wasn't worth it. We wanted mixed drinks but signage and lines were long and not clear so there was mostly just a mob of people at each concession. Hopefully, the reconstruction will allow for more sufficient staffing, line management, and a nicer experience. We will return in a few years when it's complete. The trains home had long lines but they did a good job of filling up the trains and keeping the line of people organized for transportation back into the City. For once, the MTA did something right! Overall, had a great time. Probably better that we couldn't get drinks.

    One For The Books!

by Steve on 6/14/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Arcangelo, the first Belmont Stakes entrant to be trained by a woman, delivered a heavenly performance, closing the book on a great day of tradition and excitement. The performers and musicians also did a great job, which made me wonder why a 6-star review isn't a thing, because this year's Belmont certainly deserved it!

    Wonderful time

by Warty on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Had a wonderful time, but no seat cushions that I purchased or commemetive ticket holder that I purchased. Otherwise had a terrible time.

Good time but food does not live up to event

by VinnyA on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Food choices at Belmont were terrible. No variety and number of food stands to support large crowd was insufficient. Doesn’t even come close to variety of food choices at other large scale sporting events.

    Understaffed

by BT on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

1 hour wait in line to pay for a cheeseburger. Get more staff to process payment. People started walking away without paying. Poor traffic control for those driving back from event. Took over 1 1/2 hours to turn around and head in the right direction to get back to NJ. People stared making U-turns in middle of road out of frustration- further delaying traffic. Just these two problems alone equals 2 1/2 hours wasted. Enough said.

A great day out except for the drink lines

by Marie on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

7th year in a row and it's definitely improved: more food trucks in a much better area than last year. Drink lines outside not too bad although they did run out of a lot of things. Musicians were great. Drink lines on the third floor were terrible - we must have waited at least 40 minutes and then the tills were down so it was cash only. Sort this and its a 5 star review!

    Great horses, bad food/drinks/wifi

by Stino on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

If I wasn't in line for the food and drinks for so long (at concessions that were already primarily SOLD OUT so early) I would have experienced the horses more! The wifi and service also didn't work so it was nearly impossible to find the people I was with if we ever wanted to split up

    Bullied at belmont

by CC on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Event was wonderful and fun BUT.... everytumw we left our seats to walk around, there was someone sitting in them when we returned. Also people who obviously did not pay for seats stood in aisle and along rail so we could not see.

The long lines ruin the experience

by Srod on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

The event itself (Horse racing) and the DJ were great. But the food and beverage lines were 1 hour and longer. On several occasions in the afternoon we would make it to the front of the line after waiting only to find out that they were out of almost every beverage. At the end of the event we were starving but couldn't fathom standing in line for yet another hour to get food. It's a shame that we left there thirsty and starving, They need to increase the number of people serving and add more stands of food and beverages and they need to stock up properly.

    Line city

by Mike honcho on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Reminded me of the south park episode where cartman bought his own amusement park just so he didnt have to wait on line anymore. It was cool being there but god forbid you want to get a bite or a drink because you will be on line for a hour to get each.

    NYRA needs to wake up

by Vince on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

I have gone to the Belmont Stakes since Stage Door Johnny defeated Forward Pass. There were very few that I have missed. NYRA has allowed a day that they could show off how good they were slip away again. If they hadn’t brought in food trucks, there would have been a shortage of food and drinks again. The only track that they make sure is stocked is Saratoga. They have lost their way and no longer respect their fans,

The Horse Racing was great but the "reserved seats" were not

by BansheeBob on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Reserved seats were not protected from squatters as in the past. No monitor at top of section for entire day. Young men and women (20's/30's) were simply drunk, profane and rude. Climbing over seats, cursing passing out. Ladies rooms were a mess (goes with the drunken and high youth that attended I guess. Really sorry I purchased these seats and will not be doing so next year.

    Painful

by MGW on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

After hosting the race for probably 100 years the management still hasn’t figured out how to sell food and drink smoothly and efficiently. It was almost like it was the first time the Belmont Stakes has ever taken place. 45 minute line to buy a signature drink, then they run out 3 hours before the race.

    Badly run by NYRA

by Tom from Brooklyn on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

This was the last Belmont at the now to be old track. It will be town down and a 'new and improved' venue built. NYRA could have held off construction until after the race. The infield was a mess and cranes were working as the races were being run. Betting was difficult with not enough tellers and topped off with bad cell reception so you could not even use a phone to place a wager. The only real place to buy food were at a number of food trucks on the bottom floor. I could go on but it was disgraceful. A poor performance all around.

    Belmont stakes - great racing

by Arrogate on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Fantastic day of racing. Pros: The viewing of the horses was great. Belmont has one of my favorite paddock set ups. I hope it doesn’t change w the Reno. Staff by and large were very nice. Cons: in spite of food trucks the food was not so good and wildly expensive same for the drinks. If the speed of service could increase more meals and cocktails could be sold at better prices. I had to wait 20 mins to get a 6$ bottle of water ( criminal!) … I spent close to 200$ on a ticket and when the big race was on the aisles filled up w general admission ticket holders who blocked the view of the horses….

    Meh!

by BH on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Nicer outside, but bathrooms are still poor and lines to bet seem longer. Biggest issue in reserved seats is the people who come up during the day and stand in the way. Ushers do nothing to move them. Why pay a $100+ for an obstructed view. Surely NY State can do better.

    Good but room for improvement

by Living Large Lee on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

Ticketing was quite easy. But digital only ticketing without the option to print out a hard copy for admittance is a crock. And what are you supposed to do if the battery in your phone dies and you can't provide a bar code? Totally sucks!

    Maybe I'm Just Getting Old...

by Philly Cheese Steak on 6/13/23Belmont Park - Elmont

My wife and I first attended the Belmont Stakes in 2007. Our last attendance was in 2019. Since then they built the UBS Arena which took away much of the backyard, reducing the overall footprint and limiting capacity. We did notice improvements related to UBS such as the new commuter train station, paved parking lots, better signage, etc. Getting there and into the grandstand was easy. It's when the 20 somethings started showing up in the latter half of the afternoon that I felt old. These rookies don't appreciate the sport and came to drink. The "music" of Diplo was more like a rumble than anything resembling melody and song structure. The bus situation after the race was horrendous, as the kids acted like they were trying to get on the last helicopter out of Saigon.
